I don't think the aftermath of last nights game is the right time to dig at Grant, you can't fault him at all for last night....

However, i want this situation resovled sooner rather than later, we need to know immediately if he is staying or going, this has gone on long enough now..

dunno how most on here look at reports from posters saying their source in the club informed..

one of my mates on another forum said he read a poster claiming to have an inside source that rijkaard will be incharge by EURO kickoff..

now all of you may know i'm not the biggest fans of rijkaard.. so it doesnt change anything for me.. but its something nice for the gossip lovers

Grant is completely faultless for last night, but I am certain he will leave. In fairnes, the bloke has done very well. He could have made a name for himself in Chelsea folklore. Shame. Never was the right man for the job though, but he has 100% of my respect.

I don't agree Blue Lion, I think that as soon as Drogba got the red, Sheva should have been brought on for what would have been his Chelsea swan song. I know Belletti scored a pen, But Sheva could have possibly pulled it out of the bag. But after all is said and done, its not last nights decisions that he should go for, its everything. He was playing Jose's team and a trained monkey could have got us where he got us. I firmly believe it was the boys and Clarkey who so nearly won the league and cup for us, not Grant. Also he has all the personality of a frog having a shit.

Mate i respect you, you're a top member much older than me,and far more expirinced. But i must disagree,i doubted Grant as well for some time but he pulled us back, and we could have won at least 3 trophies but luck proved us wrong(The CC,UCL and Premier League).Last night defeat was caused only by unluck, simple as that.Grant will leave this season but he got 100% respect from me for what he's done for a short time he spent with us.

May as well put the boot in as well then! Hmmm where to begin. I've said for ages that I didn't think Grant was right for the job but I thought I would see what happens at the end of the season before I passed full judgement.

Firstly when all said and done Bombay blue is exactely correct Jose never lost a final and here we are at the end of the season having been in two finals and ending up trophyless, that is not good enough.

Secondly the Loss of the UCL was not really Grant's fault maybe he could've made some different changes quicker but it was a very tight game, and Drogba being sent of with 6 mins to go was a fucking disgrace. We may not have one it in that 6 minutes but once Drog got sent off we had no chance of winning it before the penalty shoot out.

Thirdly I don't think second in the league is bad at all, we should always aim to finish in the top two whilst recognising that we aren't going to win the league every year. Finishing third would have been really shit!

All in all Grant's tactical ineptness was the difference between us finishing with 1 or 2 trophy's and no trophies, when you put it all together and think about the season as a whole it has to be viewed as a bad season. If we had won the FA and Carling cups finished second in the league and just pipped to the UCL then I would say give the guy another go because that is a good season, unfortunately considering how close we were to winnning something and ending up with nothing is not good enough.

I think to say that this seasons was a "bad season" is doing the players a massive disrespect. Through a loss of manager, the ACN and a LOT of injuries we have had a damn fine this season and the players have given their all for us and come up just short, we cant expect to win something every year, there are too many good teams around for that to happen. We came within a whisker of a fantastic treble this season..........

Everyone knows Avram Grant is not good enough to manage Chelsea and no-one wanted him in the first place and he should never be given the job. And it is reasuring to see that it looks likely he will once again be moved upstairs to allow a proper manager to take us forward.

But you cannot use what we have achieved this season as a stick to beat Grant with because we have done fantastic. Even BEFORE Grant was appointed when Jose left pretty much everyone thought a top 4 finish would be about the best we could hope for even with a decent manager comming in instead of Grant.

Its a fine line, every team has had to cope with the ACN and injuries, TBH if we are going to whine about the ACN don't buy as many fucking African players simple as. I think the league was a good result and I'm proud of everyone at the club for getting to the UCL final and playing so well, but when you consider how close we were to winning a trophy, be it FA cup or Carling Cup, to end up with nothing is poor.

The players are the guys who have got us as far as they did this season I think most, bar Malouda, have given everything, the failure sits with Grant. At key times when we needed a tactical decision or word of encouragement or good sub we had the opposite which in all likelihood was the difference between winning something and not.

Maybe we can't win something every year but in a year where we were close to a treble, to end with nothing shows a lack somewhere. It's poor and to make excuses like ACN, Mourinho getting the sack or injuries detracts from the fact that Chelsea Football Club as a whole have made the choices which contributed to this season ending the way it did.

Yup, agree with that . Just because you're a billionaire, doesnt neccessarily mean you're intelligent.

Getting his mate Grant to ride the Chelsea wave is fine, but when circumstances in a match change, or you're in a silverware determining game -you need an experienced coach above all, someone who can motivate the players, and someone they respect. I think that's where the fine line between success and failure has been.

Couldn't agree more with this final analysis, the club contributed to its own downfall in many ways but principally with the disposal of Mourinho which then led to further upheavals thereafter. We were in with a genuine shout at three trophies (frankly we should have got further in the FA Cup as well) and we blew all of them. It's no good saying "well Avram almost got us there" for a club like this that's not good enough.

The harsh truth is no one remembers managers that "almost" got you something. They remember winners like Fergie, Mourinho et al.

The idea that Roman is blessed with grave intelligence just because he's made a billion here and there out of the oil industry in Russia is a bit of a misnomer too. As Mourinho once said "I wouldn't try to tell Roman how to run his businesses because he would be bankrupt and he shouldn't try to tell me how to manage a football team" or words to that effect. Roman should have heeded Jose's words, Roman may know his oil business and acquiring various friends such as Grant in the football firmanent but that does not make him some kind of all knowing football guru.

He should take a leaf out of the Glazer's books, never see them, hardly ever hear from them (Roman's got that taped at least) and most critically they give support and continuation to their manager through good times and bad. They don't pretend to know a lot about football management and leave it to someone who does.

This club jettison their manager for no clear cut reason of a footballing nature, no wonder the club is always in a state of constant flux and vexation - we just never damn well learn our lesson.

We could have really built something to scare Fergie with Mourinho but no we had to shoot ourselves in the foot over a personality clash and tear up the play house and now have to start building it almost all from scratch again.

Just stupid but oh so Chelsea!
