Has anyone got the new PES?

After last years' disaster, I wasn't going to buy it but it has some exceptional reviews this year.

Like many I'm still looking for a football game that was as good as PES 3-6 were.

I'm on PS4 if that helps,

The game isnt great, acceptable at least, stil way too mecanic and contains too much bugs to think about buying it but I see them in few years producing decent football games, Konami need to add a lot of animation on players if they want to challenge EA. The past two years we are having very bad football games, FIFA 14 is a disaster, 15 a little bit less.

So completely realistic then.

Quite true!

Seems fun so far. Had an end to end Netherlands V Brazil.

The lack of licenses is hard to get back used to, especially since I think you can put option files on PS4 :(

Much, much better than 14 though.

PES 2015 is rough in some aspects, the graphics are not on pair with FIFA but its gameplay is the best of this "next-gen".

FIFA is that kind of game that seems suited for one specific playing style. Its a game based on lobbed trough ball. I lost many tough matches where suddenly from the midfield Modric just make a impossible pass to Ronaldo, who find himself in front of the goal free to score.

Not to mention the worst aspect of FIFA series: scripting. FIFA seems to force situations like last minute goals, last minute impossible saves or balls hitting the post. It seems in some matches the game won't let you win, or the game want the match to be exciting, thats why hitting the post is so common during a FIFA match (actually perhaps in 9 out 10 matches you play online the ball will hit the post at some point). Scripting is not a new thing in videogames. Since ISS from N64 it was not hard to realize that the CPU was cheating in some games, but that only happened in Player vs CPU games in hardest levels. In FIFA, even playing against real players I always get the feeling that the match was not natural as it was supposed to be. For example, it seems the game decides that in some moments the CB will be faster than the forward.

FIFA is also a beginner friendly game. FIFA is perhaps the biggest game franchise nowadays, so they must please the casual gamers. PES is a game that takes time to know even simple things like defending.

Tactics in PES really works. In FIFA even if you decide to park the bus and defend deep, you will realize that many times the opponent will find your defense wide open (or Ronaldo will receive that perfect lobbed trough ball free of marking). So, if your opponent decides to play an ultra attacking game, you will easily score in counter attack, while in FIFA playing ultra attacking football with Real Madrid is the way to go, since in EA game high pressuring is really easy, all you need to do is two buttons pressed and let the players do the work.

Defending is also really nice in PES 2015. Most casual football fans care little about tactics, defense and only care about scoring goals and fancy skills. FIFA 14 and specially 15 were designed to please those players. You never really controls your defense. In PES I always feel like I'm controlling my defense, and usually when the back four make a mistake, its my fault, while in FIFA many times I blamed poor AI.

But its far from a perfect game. GKs work 95% of the time, but on some occasions they will make really annoying mistakes. Konami doesn't have the huge licenses you will find in FIFA, but they MUST improve the kits and badge design. That kind of lazy work is not acceptable in a PS4 game. Since 2005 Chelsea is London FC, with the same awful badge that looks the work 8 years using Paint, not to mention the kits with lazy designs that made you feel you are playing a PS2 game. No to mention the few stadium options. I don't care if they can't use licensed designs, they must give us more generic stadiums. While in FIFA you get up to 40 licensed stadiums and 30 generic stadiums, in PES we have less than 20. Its unbelievable that in 2015 they are selling a football game with only 18 stadiums.

Including a generic german league is also a must. Lack of license is not an excuse for lack of teams or players.

Totally agree, Henrique.

While FIFA is - and will remain - the go-to football game, I can see vast improvements in this game as opposed to their recent PES titles. Last years variation was shambolic but this years iteration leaves me in a positive mindset as to how they may improve in the future. That being said, Konami being Konami will no doubt take this game and manage to take three steps back after this years instalment.

The main reason why I preferred PES over FIFA in the past was due to the enjoyment of playing against the computer. On FIFA, it offers nothing outside of Ultimate Team. (The best thing FIFA did was bring in Pro Clubs, but that's for another discussion, another day...) Whereas on PES, I can play Master League for hours upon hours and not get bored. Yes, playing PES is frustrating at times due to the licensing issues, but they have options to edit just about anything you want so you can really make the game yours.

It is far from being the complete football game, but if they can use this game as a platform and build from it in the future, they're more than on the right track. I will be buying next years instalment, for sure. I played the demo of this game and wasn't too impressed, but after borrowing a friends game for a week I simply had to buy it. It's a shame it sometimes takes a while to match-make as there isn't too many players playing multiplayer, but I also believe that the reason behind that is due to 90% of PES' fan-base being single player guys.

Enough "reviewing" of the game, anyway...

I'm currently three games into the "Top Player" difficulty on myClub. I have Thiago Silva at the back, Willian CAM and Llorente as an option up top. I say "option" as he isn't that good at the minute and doesn't fit in too well with my current managers tactics. I am currently using some random 65-rated player as a striker as I'd prefer a quicker option up front due to my playing style.

Does anyone on here have PES? Or still play it, for that matter?

Im really late, but i started to play PES 2015 in the last few weeks, and i think this game is so much better, so much more realistic than FIFA, like the old days finaly.

I've played FIFA since 2010, and also this year i played it for 2 months until i had enough, because like always FIFA is too simple, doesnt feel like real football, you dont really control everything, goals popping up from nowwhere.. and Real Madrid are too damn good and i had enough playing against them when i chose Chelsea. I havent thought about PES because when i tried it in 2013 and 2014 i thought that while it was more realistic than FIFA is some aspects (the way the players touch the ball was always better in PES), it was a bad game.

Like i said few weeks ago i gave it a chance and i can easily say its the real deal. Its not perfect, its sometimes still a bit slow, and off course the lack of licenses is annoyng, but overall its football as it should be played. If you want the more "real" experience. Fifa is still more "Fun Fun Fun", but PES got back to be the hard-realistic game we all loved.

PES 2016

Features and release date (read also here)

Additionally, Konami has detailed lots of new and updated features for Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. For all details, read the uncut press release below:

‘LOVE THE PAST, PLAY THE FUTURE’: PES 2016 ANNOUNCED AS AWARD-WINNING SERIES RETURNS FOR ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced a September 18th release date for PES 2016, marking the 20th anniversary edition of the hugely successful football series.

From its humble origins on PSOne, the PES series has leaped from format to format, adding ever more realism as it evolved. This heritage has been celebrated in PES 2016’s new tagline ‘Love The Past, Play The Future’, highlighting the series’ recent return to core PES values in last year’s PES 2015 and focusing on the many new gameplay and presentational elements that will further establish the series as the definitive football experience.

PES 2016 aims to retain its title of ‘Best Sports Game’, as voted across the world at games shows and by major media outlets in 2014, by continuing to lead the way in the recreation of ‘The Beautiful Game’. The series aims to go back to its roots to create an exciting match between users, and proudly present PES 2016 to deliver quality gameplay as per KONAMI’s ‘The Pitch is Ours’ mantra. From further integration of the industry-leading Fox Engine to bring the on-pitch action to life and full commitment to centre the product around creating the best gameplay experience, to the full redevelopment of Master League, every facet of the game has been enhanced to deliver yet another outstanding product.

FRESH GAMEPLAY

Exciting advancements reaffirming the PES series as having the very best gameplay.

Advanced Collision System – The physicality of the modern game has been realised in PES 2016 with a significantly improved collision system, calculating how players interact and creating a unique outcome depending on the type of impact.
Aerial Strength – With the new physicality system, aerial battles are a completely unique experience this year. Use the left stick to battle the opposition or disrupt a larger, more powerful, player; or find the best position to make the header/volley.
1v1 Control – In PES 2016 the 1v1 player control have been enhanced, offering a wide range of movements within the existing control structure. Response times have been improved, allowing players to manoeuvre in tight situations. This also benefits the upgraded feint moves that allow sudden directional change that can cause defenders to lose their balance. The 1on1 situations now offer a great leap in exciting table-turning outcomes. Just as the real pitch offers opportunities for those brave enough to perform, in PES 2016 players can pull off precise action, manoeuvre flexibly and pull away from the defender. Technique and timing can see a defender lose his balance, and creates great chances just as you pictured.
Perfect Defence – Performing a tackle at the perfect time will powerfully shove the player out of the way to secure the ball. The ball will immediately be yours, creating direct turnarounds and counter opportunities.
Intelligent Player AI – 2-3 player combination play will be available via the improved concept of team strategy, which depends on the type of tactic you set for your team. Players are no longer reliant on manually triggering a one-two, with teammates intelligently running off passes into space.
Goal Keeper ID – In a bid to improve quality and add unique individuality in performance, new goal keeper parameters have been added that vary in Catching, Clearance, Collapsing and Deflecting. This adds character to the players, who you can count on catching the ball rather than punching, or are better at stopping close range shots.
Celebration Control – New for the series, players have full control over goal celebrations to maximize their excitement when scoring! Prompts appear after a goal to trigger a trademark celebration, or unique actions at the press of a button.

FUNDAMENTAL CHANGES

New significant improvements across key modes and features.

New Master League – The famous and hugely popular Master League enjoys a total revamp, allowing users to immerse themselves in the managerial world of soccer. Every element has been redesigned or reworked, from the vibrant and involving menus to the new and exciting player transfer system, PES 2016 see one of the series most integral modes redefine the single-player experience.
New Visuals – Incorporating the many advancements of the Fox Engine, the visuals have seen a huge upgrade. See the rain splash as players slide in to win possession, or the turf kick up as you strike the ball into the top corner. New night-time lighting and real turf textures are among some of the many improvements.
Dynamic Weather – For the first time in the PES series, dynamic weather has been introduced, with the chance of rain starting during the game. Combined with the ever more realistic ball physics, the rain changes how the game can be played with passes speeding up, and less skilled players likely to struggle with trapping. The defender taken by the 1-on-1 will also be more likely to slip and fall due to incorrect studs or blades. This feature is applied to all offline modes including the Master League, and is an important element to decide the outcome of the match.
Human Motion – Seeking to humanize player movement, 3x new animations have been added to bring the in-game superstars to life. Goalkeepers have seen an abundance of save animations added, while outfield players shoot, pass, dribble and tackle with incredible variety depending on the situation. Players complain when a foul isn't given, or lament a teammate when a pass isn't made when in open space. The new 1v1 control also benefits from this, with players being able to fool their opponents with shimmies and feints that can result in causing the opposing player to lose his balance and fall in the wrong direction!
New Ball Physics – The past few years has seen the series make huge advancements in ball physics, and for PES 2016 new levels of realism have been reached. Each spin, bobble and ricochet has been calculated using real ball physic data, helping keep every moment in every game unique and unpredictable.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS

Many important elements are upgraded per fan feedback.

myClub – Since the launch of the mode in PES 2015, myClub has been updated on a weekly basis, and has been further improved based on user feedback for PES 2016. The enhancement will introduce player level systems, and players exclusive to the mode. Use GP acquired through matches or myClub coins to experience realistic club management combined with players to strive to be stronger in your squad. Choose the manager, consider coaches, and build the strategy based on what you aim with your team. Build Your Team, Create Your legacy!
Dynamic Wide Camera Angle – The new angle gives you a larger field of vision, allowing you to better plan and adjust your players to compete in aerial battles, or see the intelligent runs being made thanks to Intelligent Player AI. Depending on where the ball is on the pitch, the camera will tilt and pan accordingly to make sure the user has the best view possible during the match.
Commentary – New commentators have been introduced for both UK and Germany, with Peter Drury and Marco Hagemann joining the PES team. A wealth of new lines and specific stories have been recorded dedicated for Master League, responding to player transfers, player growth and team performance.
PS4 Image Importing – Edit mode is synonymous with the PES series, and further updates have been made to this hugely popular mode. PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 users are now able to import images into the game, thus perfectly replicating any team kit or emblem the user wishes - including managers.

PES 2016 will also exclusively retain its use of the UEFA Champions League club competition, which was announced recently. This new three-year partnership allows KONAMI to feature both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League club competitions within its many options, with both featured as individual modes or within the larger season overview upon qualification - with the UEFA Super Cup featured within the iconic Master League mode

Further details of PES 2016’s content – including a rewards program for current myClub users crossing over this year – will follow, with new information and screenshots released at E3 next week.

Thoughts on PES 2016? I played a few games yesterday of the full PC version and I must say that gameplay is far superior to FIFA. You can actually play beautiful possession and build-up football instead of relying heavily on counter-attacking like in FIFA. Teammates seem to be far more intelligent, there is actual and working team pressing! And there are no massive gaps between defensive and midfield line, which was one of my biggest frustrations in FIFA - you can set up your tactics, but your teammates still play like morons and leave tons of space.

Looking forward to patches that update the squads, names and kits. Are there perhaps any available already?

From previous experience I know that Konami will release a few patches in regards to this.
Other than that, there are also fan created option files which are released by pesgaming.com and winning eleven blog.

Thanks for that. I can't rely on konami official updates as I didn't exactly buy the game.
