How have you guys learnt new languages? Have you gone for classes somewhere or learnt using CDs etc?

Thinking of learning French!

I was raised and talked this "special" arabic called Kabylian only in my family that belong to a special area of Algeria, beside the normal Arabic that is talked in my country of course, and because my country was a french colonisation until 1962 and even after that, its normal to speak also French in Algeria and it is taught since your third year in the primary school.I learned English alone because in my childhood I was so privileged to have a computer very early, so with the games, Mourinho's press conferences, the videogames and the movies on TV it came a bit naturally. Now i'm learning spanish using Duolingo and i'm only starting it.So globally i'm talking five languages without any education really, I learned French by watching french TV shows since I was born, and English just after that :clown:

Globally If you are willing to learn French 50 % of the words are similar to English, for example in this last line in French it is (Globally = Globalement, Similar = Similaire, Example = Example ! French = Francais, Line = Ligne :clown: ) so its 80% of it very close to English. The conjugation/Grammar is the difficult part, much difficult than English to learn the pasts forms for example.

Learning German at the moment. I'd also like to learn Arabic and Turkish.

If you want to learn Arabic I must tells you from now, it is the most difficult language in the world, you must be very determined to do it because it will take you a hell lot of time.

I started learning Italian last summer. by started i mean i followed a course on the internet for like 2 weeks. i learnt the basics, but because i only did for 2 weeks it didnt take too long for me to forget it.

now that ive finished uni im thinking of starting again. im going to go back to the course i started as it was actually really good, so im aiming to go through it and finish it then hopefully move on to other courses, can anybody reccomend any free websites that may help? this is the course i was/going to continue doing:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/

any advice or other useful links would be muchly appreciated.

another language id like to learn is German, simply because id love to shout at someone in German. But Italian is my priority, my partners family is italian, and although i dont need to learn it, i like italy and can see myself going there quite a lot in the future so i think it would be the most useful.

Thinking of learning French!

Well, it depens really and everything works!

1. Protuguese for obvious reasons.

2. Spanish because my mom is from Spain an all her family.

3. English because I lived in USA for 2 years and Brazilian schools teach it.

4. German because my University has a partnership program with some German Engineering Programs, so they give intensive classes for whoever wants it. Plus, I downloaded some Rosetta Stone CDs to practice my pronounciation.

5. French (not very good at it) lessons in High School, because I had to choose one language and basic English or Spanish classes would be absolutely boring.

6. Italian because French + Spanish + Portuguese = Italian, lol.

As you can see, very different ways, but all of them works. My Portuguese and Spanish accents are perfect, my English is very good and my German and French are beyound terrible! :)
