LDN Blue 7,903
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011pwt6/Panorama_Undercover_Care_The_Abuse_Exposed/Truly been sickened by this. These people, the most vulnerable in society, have been abused in such a horrific way it made me almost sick. How people managed to do this, and get away with it for so long, only to be uncovered by a BBC documentary shocks me even more.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13617196Arrests have been made. 4 have been bailed too. Horrible state of affairs.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/panorama/hi/front_page/newsid_9501000/9501531.stmJoe Casey spent five weeks filming undercover in a private care hospital on the outskirts of Bristol after getting a job as a support worker. He was shocked by what he witnessed. My experience at Winterbourne View will stay with me for a very long time. The hitting, slapping, bullying, dousing with water, cruel and often pointless use of physical restraint on people - many with a child-like understanding of the world - all happened in front of my eyes.On a near-daily basis, I watched as some of the very people entrusted with the care of society's most vulnerable targeted patients - often, it seemed, for their own amusement. They are scenes of torment that are not easily forgotten. The targets had no way of defending themselves or speaking out. Anyone who questioned the abuse met a wall of silence. They spent most of their days locked on the top floor of a three-story non-descript building in a business park on the outskirts of town. We Hate Scouse 10,327
It's absolutely disgusting. The worst thing of all is you can guarantee it's going on in other places and unless they drastically change things it will carry on.
- 25 - 167
Horrific case, but I can't say I'm surprised. There's been a history of stories of abuse in these types of institutions over the years. Some people just can't handle being in a position of power.

Kojo 4,676
I forgot to watch that, i saw the previous episode which was actually about how corrupt Fifa is. But yes it's terrible, i know a lot of it is going on in old peoples homes to, they just drug them to shut them up and go downstairs and have a fag, don't even do there job or anything. There needs to be a system to control all of it to be honest.

Fulham Broadway 17,332
What is just as shocking was that the nurses in charge were just looking on and laughing as the patients were tortured. Also the nurse that blew the lid on the whole thing had THREE letters in which he highlighted the catalogue of abuse ignored by the regulator , the Care Quality Council. Imagine if it were your sister/brother/ kids in there you'd want to batter those responsible. and by the way Castlebeck the Private company that owns the place charges £3 500 per week for each patient that WE pay for out of our taxesAlso...is it a coincidence or not ??? on the same day 750 Old peoples homes run by Southern Cross, a private company who we pay for, are in danger of shutting down, because Southern Cross, sold off all the properties in the boom to make money for the shareholders, and leases them back. Now they cant afford the rents....The people that own the properties can repossess them at any time by law. Age UK have said if teh people are moved (31 000 of them) many will die. Yeah, thats privatisation of the Health Service by the TORY CUNTS.Dont get old whatever you do....
chrismada9 1,948
I watched a majority of this last night, it was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life. Seriously, how can this world be infested with scumbags like this, who have nothing better do but let defenseless people suffer at the hands of themselves. It's completely sickening. Ray. 217
I have a mentally handicapped brother who one day will have to go into a institution like this. At present he lives at home and needs 1-1 sometimes 2-1 care on a daily basis. My parents are elderly and have resisted for a long time my brother going into such a place on a permanent basis as they fear that something will happen to him in a place like this. We just have to hope this documentary has brought in a reform in the inspection process of health facilities.
