He aced it under Pep and he showed he can still do it wonderfully. How many times has he tacked, blocked, or forced an error from opposition to recover possession for us in the attacking half? A considerable number if I might add. Nothing wrong with Willian (except his inability to assist, score or do anything relevant at the edge and especially inside the box - which makes the idea of him being our best #10 laughable, but well, just different opinions) who's clearly still far from his best form, but he was the down side to our attack today. Costa made a few mistakes, but looked lively and dangerous, Hazard (who also missed an easy goal, although not a sitter as Willian) was more involved and Pedro was superb. An in form Oscar or Willian and our attack looks really dangerous (when will Mourinho stop insisting on Falcao? Even when the match was all designed for a player with Remy's pace and who's already proved himself in the past, Mourinho insists on his stupid and egomaniac attempt to make Falcao a star again... that's unfair, and there's only so much we can mildly complain about it, I was afraid he was going to be the reason for us dropping points today). I see a lot of people throwing stones on Cesc. While he was poor defensively, I saw the glimpses of the player from last season with the through balls and amazing vision. He's still out of form, he needs more matches under his belt, and he will never be a defensive prowess, but can we really talk only about him or mainly about him when we look like a league 1 (not even championship sides defend as bad as we do) when defending? Azpili was much better today than lately, but he's still not there yet. Matic has a whole world to improve. Cahill, Terry, Zouma all made mistakes, some small some big in those three matches and I refuse to comment on Iva. I can't wait until the time comes when he's not a regular starter for us and it gives me hope the board is refusing to give him further than one season contract as his current deal ends at the end of the season. We look clueless defensively, like we can't even do the basic well anymore. Every cross on our box - especially on set pieces leaves me with my heart on my mouth. We look shaky, vulnerable and easily beaten defensively except for our keepers who have showed some great work in those three matches. We need reinforcements, and we need them fast. I don't care if it's John bloody Stones or not. We need more depth and actually quality to start there. I hope we haven't put all our eggs in one basket as Everton seem adamant on not selling, but we can't go another season with those four. Only Zouma and Azpili are long term options and until we ace our defensive system again, Terry's slowness will continue to be exposed in a bad fashion, even if he's one of the best CBs in the world. Iva has to leave the team and so does Cahill and against fast attacks Terry. We need a reliable CB. José will never change 3/5 of our defense in one single season, but Iva, Cahill and Terry (JT only depending on the opposition) need to start making their way for better players. We overachieved defensively with those guys basically because Matic was incredibly effective protecting them, but also because we were lucky. We need to stop compromising the team fluidity (and right now even results) because of our reluctance in replacing soldiers that served us great well in the past, but that aren't that good anymore (Terry is still good, but only works well against some kind of teams). Really happy for Pedro and I hope the huge amount of goals, the numerous saves by our keepers and chances wasted by opposition will make the board and the club react about the defense the same way they reacted about Pedro. I said many times I didn't see much need of getting a better winger, but how wrong have I been. I have no doubt we still need a CM and CB - which have been the position I've been crying out for signings since the window is open.

That was his true reaction not deflection... He should have avoided answering the question, as he does when he wants. That's his one mistake here. He didn't blame her, he didn't deflect anything, during the actual post match press he acknowledged some things, he admitted the bad result. If he wanted excuses he would have mentioned the red card, which did cost us. Unlike many here he has a working brain, if he wants to find excuses, he'd given a buyable one, not some half arsed insignificant episode. Then the media and most people here transformed it into a circus. People criticize DM journalists, but they should have a reality check because they write even worse shit here and would do as bad if they worked there. Also, Mourinho's power in the club isn't what people make it out to be. He personally probably doesn't give two fucks about what she said, but in all honesty in the world, how many other docs and phisios in the last 12 months made it to the media in a negative way as Chelsea's? He'll be fine, just like the rest of the team. Mourinho won't move from 4-2-3-1, but a 4-3-3 with Oscar supporting him is still the system I like the most.

maybe, but seeing it in the video posted last page, it was weird. Oscar is always so happy and enthusiastic in his goal celebrations. I don't think it has any long term implication, but something was definitely off.

They just look stats numbers, money spent on transfer window, results and they get their ideas from articles by reading the title (from sensationalist tabloids nonetheless). I won't bother to read what's been written. I'll just say give him a break. He's not there yet, and he's not known to getting there really fast. That's the way he is, with the exception of the season he arrived here (I suppose he was running high in motivation back then after a big transfer to the European Champions - hello, Arsenal).

and many of them he wasn't even selected to play because of his illness. He played in UCL and also the domestic cups. Last season was atypical. He arrived later because of WC and drunk from winning it. He started a few matches and was subbed off, but the season prior to that he had enough chances to prove his worth. I wish he hadn't left, but he didn't want to stay. Also, even after he was cured from is disease, Willian was in much better form than he was. As I said he failed to displace players from the starting XI. Edit: from August to December he started 13 matches for us in addition to the matches he was brought in. can't stand seeing his face in the starting XI right now. But we're so short in defense that we basically don't have any other option. I still believe Mourinho made a serious mistake keeping him in the team last season without even trying for a decent streak of matches playing Azpi and Luís. And when he justified his choice he looked even worse saying Iva asked him to play at all matches. I also want to sit in my house every Friday instead of working, but my bosses unfortunately aren't Mourinho...

Schurrle played much more than one game here and there and 10-15 minutes here and there. Your memory clearly fails you. People were complaining about how many chances he received and now they're complaining he didn't receive enough chances. The common denominator here is only one: complaining. We can agree to disagree though.

we won't keep any player against their will. Andre wanted to leave, there was nothing that could have been done... He left as a bench player and he's still a bench player at Wolfsburg. If anything that's bad career management, not exactly man management. I don't think Mourinho made mistakes on how he handled the AMs in the team. I think he's been making mistakes for a while about the titular defenders and squad players for both defense and midfield. Those mistakes could cost titles, I won't deny the possibility and I don't have much hope Iva and Cahill have chances of leaving the starting XI. His mistakes there are clear as day imo and as long as he continues to make them, we'll suffer and only time will tell what's going to cost us.

Mata never fit, KdB showed clearly - even with his own words, Mourinho's and his current manager's - he doesn't accept not being a nailed starter, so he wouldn't accept even to sit down some matches. Schurrle could have been a different story and I'm sis biggest fan, but he's been way too inconsistent despite being given plenty of chances to displace anyone from the starting XI. He failed to secure is spot time after time. Mata and Kev may have a point if they complain about chances given (I don't think they have much), but Schurrle definitely doesn't.

and all of them without any exception left because they didn't want to continue in the bench... it's hard to balance those things out because quality players don't want to sit down most matches and with the starting XI we have on midfield, that's where they'd most likely be. We aren't at the same status as Madrid and Barça where players are happy to just be part of the team...
