Kaka is Oscar's idol both come from Sao Paulo FC and both Neymar and Robinho come from Santos FC and when he was a very young teenager, Neymar used to want to be the 'New Robinho' - except he's already much better and it was clear early he would turn out better,

You provided the video, but somehow I feel you proved my point further. Either you didn't understand what Tomo was explaining a #10 does in England or you're mistaking the whole thing... So again, what is exactly your point? That Ozil is more creative than Oscar? Everyone knows it for a fact. What makes no sense is telling that Ozil can make all the pressing, marking and defensive work Oscar does as you said he can do. He can't and he has never done it in a match I've watched. And we were saying that those skills are necessary for a #10 to be really useful in English football. So I still don't get you.... But here's a practical thing better quality vid of yours Oscar vs Sporting last week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rtaS9sixyA&list=UUXwtgFK_8wdpMZXmcZC0usg I would suggest you to count and compare, but I did the counting for you, so you can check if you want. I compared both videos and this is what I've got (Ozil x Oscar) Tackles in opponent half: 2 x 2 Tackles in his half: 0 x 3 Total Tackles: 2 x 5 Clearances: 0 x 1 Interception: 1 x 0 Pressing occasions: 1 x 3 Insistent pressing occasions*: 0 x 1 Aerial Duels won: 0 x 1 Chances created: 1 x 1 Clear cut chances created: 2 x 3 Pass before the assist: 1 x 2 Through balls: 2 x 5 Shots on goal: 3 (2 blocked, one wood work) x 1 (sitter saved by goalie) Dispossessed/turnover: 6 x 1 *when the player pressed once, twice, but didn't let go, keep closing gaps as the opposition exchanged passes - pressing more than on player in sequence. (take notice of how many times he was dispossessed, most of them didn't involve him trying to dribble, it was about first touch, ball control or being tackled by opposition) Sorry but I don't feel Ozil even close to Oscar in the work-rate department and to be honest, Oscar was better even in the creative part (and still there were people on the live thread saying Oscar couldn't pick one pass in the attack). What people are talking here is his tactical flexibility. In a normal day, where he doesn't have to play deeper, he'll do everything Ozil did defensively in that match and so much more. He puts pressure all the time, he presses many times during a match, he tackles, both in our half and the opponents half, he protects our box, he does the never-giving-up- kind of pressing. In the Sporting match as showed above he did all that and still got five through balls, created three clear cut chances plus another chance created and had the pass before what could have been an assist twice. I did those stats myself based on those two vids, instead of going to Squawka, for example. So I can only talk about I've watched... still this video by you doesn't prove Ozil can do even half of what Oscar does defensively/pressing and in that said match compared to Oscar's against Sporting, Oscar was better not only defensively, but also creatively. Which doesn't mean he's more creative than Ozil, he isn't, I'm just refuting your initial point.

Sorry to doubt your word, but you must be confused. I'd love a link to highlights or the whole match you're referring to. Ozil has NEVER done what Oscar normally does in terms of work-rate and pressing for two simple reasons: 1) he can't. He doesn't know how, he isn't capable of, it's not among his skills; 2) Mourinho never demanded it from him because he knew Ozil's limitations. I'm not saying Ozil didn't do better than he's been doing at Arsenal, because Mourinho would never accept him to do what he does under Wenger, but Ozil is lazy (mostly due to low stamina, but also he's that kind of player) and slow in addition to having technical limitations to mark and pressure. I really have no idea what you're talking about... Also people need to get a grip... Oscar was creative in both the matches against Bolton and Sporting. He created some of our best chances, he's doing better offensively. He could have ended up with more assists if we didn't miss so many goals. And he also created the chances for others to give the assist. I think he can improve his consistency, but if he keeps creating what he did in those two matches, we really don't need him to do much better. Against Arsenal he was fulfilling a tactical role he was probably assigned to. As José said he improved during the match as the time passed because as time passed he was more and more needed in the tactical function he had than being creative.

well I did write Oscar the first time around... and I defend him quite a lot, so if you ask me you were right to jump on me. I'm so used to typing Oscar, that my brain thought Hazard, but my fingers already have a will of them all. Oscar is barely an improvement to Schurrle, talent wise. He isn't too talented (although I think he's slightly more talented than Schurrle), but works a lot. Schurrle is smarter though. I still think André will end the season with more goals than both Hazard and Willian combined (except penalties - as Hazard is our #1 taker and we never know how many penalties we'll get). From open play I see André scoring more than both together. So it doesn't really matter if he's less talented than them, as long as he improves his finishing and keeps developing, he'll become more and more a goalscorer because he's smart, his movement is top class (only second to Costa in the current squad) and his runs are also very smart and supported by incredible pace. He's an important player to have and one we don't have in someone else. We have different positive things on Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Salah (and even Ramires, as Mourinho insists on playing him as a winger). Even if we sign Reus, he's still a different kind of player compared to André. In what he does well (run, smart movement) few players are better than Schurrle, but he has to back that up with good finishing and better decision making.

I meant Hazard, not OScar, LOL TYPO. I'm sorry guys!!!!!!!! Editing my original post.
-
No, Willian is definitely more talented. Actually I believe he's our second most talented player - only behind Hazard. He can dribble, pick a pass, finish a goal. He just doesn't have any end product to go with it. that's my opinion anyway...
-
LOL. Is it only me or does it look like he punched a brick wall? He really hit Brana, it wasn't a graze or something, and Brana doesn't even flinch. LOL As for Sánchez, I can't stand the cunt. I already didn't like him, then he went to Barça and now to Arsenal. He's a cunt through and through and a dirty one, that's why he chooses those teams to play for... our player or not, no one should get away with a punch like that. I don't think Costa did something like that, he was provoked, there was a two-side reaction from both players involved. Here Sanchez loses the ball and then just goes to punch Ivanovic. He should be suspended. Maybe Costa should have too, but just because we escaped it, it doesn't mean now we can't talk about it.

that's normally Oscar, but after two goals and working his arse off against Arsenal his scapegoat status was for there for the taking. Schurrle deserves some criticism, but also our support. He's a great utility player, a very smart guy. He's not nearly as talented as Willian, let alone Hazard, but it won't surprise me at all if he ends up with more goals than both at the end of the season. When you're smart about your positioning and has a fairly decent finishing, the numbers speak for themselves. We actually have a very balanced squad with players offering different options, which is every manager's dream come true. Some matches are much more suitable for André than the others, and having him only makes our arsenal (lol) all more threatening and dangerous.

People mention Hazard, Oscar and Salah's ages all the time and they seem to forget André is only two months older than Eden and only around one year older than Oscar. Why the other two have people defending they need time to develop and everyone come here and crucify André? He's only 23 and he's already a WC champion and he wasn't there only to collect a medal. That trophy has his name written with his sweat and hard working. He earned being a WC (although Germany is a great, great team). He's a hard worker, in and off the pitch. He has the best attitude about our club in our squad apart from the English players. He's a very positive player. He's been going through a bad finishing form and maybe a tad too selfish, but he's still worked his arse off every match. Sometimes the ball just doesn't go in. Nobody seems to give him credit for getting in those position in the first place. He can only miss a chance, if he's there to collect the chance. His positioning and runs - which have always been his forte - are still as good as always. His finishing has always had ups and downs here, but last year it wasn't much noticeable because we didn't have a certain Cesc Fàbregas leaving people in front of the goalie right and left. Last season Hazard and Oscar took turns creating things, and for a while at the end of the season, none of them did much of creating work. So he had less chances, not because he wasn't there, but because he didn't get service. how many times did we comment on a play where he was in a great position, outstretched arms and nobody passed to him? He's a very cold player, he doesn't fear the responsibility, pressure or the goalie, but his finishing isn't the end product yet, because the guy is only 23!!!! He needs support. He took his Twitter account to ask us to be patient with him, that the goals would come, can we just do something totally new as supporters and actually support a player that has been giving us his best ever since he's here? Diego Costa missed a sitter ineach of the last two matches he's played for us and 'only' scored once between those two matches. Should we start bad mouthing him too? I know Schurrle missed more, but he's younger, less experienced and while Costa is on his peak years already, André is only getting there. So let's try these new things called support and patience?

Isn't that what English humor is about? I found it hilarious

LOL, Lex!!!!! I'm choking on my spit

I meant the September awards, not August. Well, after he won it last month, he went to score a hat-trick and then again and again. Four goals in Sept as well as in August and one already in october. I see a trend
-
It's also worth mentioning he's been having very quiet games in terms of discipline. I think at least two of the yellows he's got so far were undeserved, but he's played Villa, Sporting and now Arsenal and no incident, nothing to worry us. I think he might be able to work around those suspensions if he keeps things like this. I was a bit concerned about us missing him in critical matches because of cards cumulation, but I think he's good, we're good. Everything is under control. He even fondled Flamini LOL

His description of his match today is priceless, lol, the kid wants to speak, he just doesn't know the words, lol http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x27bla6_oscar-the-team-played-so-good-hd_sport

“If I want to be one of the best, I need to be in one of the best teams, you know? I cannot be the best with just me; I need help and I need a good team. And that is what I have here [at Chelsea].” — Eden Hazard
-
Our fans that actually go to the stadiums are so frigging class!!!! no booing a club legend loaned to a rival and they can recognize when a kid gives his everything in a match, even if he didn't shine in the attack Literal standing ovation for Oscar when he was subbed (probably out of exhaustion). x

speaking of POTY.... when the official POTM thing is coming out? I haven't see the list for September or the winners...
-
have you missed the first posts? According to some here we were very disappointing offensively today. I swear to you I don't get those people. Maybe the 5 shots stats is bad, but we were composed in the attack, they pressed a lot before Hazard's goal and then they came back really hungry in the second while were spending time with ball wherever a quick counter couldn't be initiated. Hazard and Costa could have been a little bit more clinical, but who the heck gives a shit about it? They both scored, it's too much to ask them to have 100% accuracy. Oh and Cesc wasn't impressive, only had that one pass to Diego's goal - also something I read more than twice here today People are never happy. Arsenal, United and Liverpool fans would give a kidney to have the team and the manager we have...
-
Imagine if this was the what way around? I don't know, maybe I haven't read around too much yet and of course I can't watch English television, but there's so little being said about Wenger shoving Mourinho, but I have no doubts if it was the other way around all the headlines would be about Mourinho being disrespectful towards the specialist in failure... I'm as convinced about it as I am there will be a new day tomorrow. Still it's funny to watch Arsene completely losing it. He can't take losing to Mourinho anymore... it's too much for him, hahahahahahahaha. Take it, loser.
-
It's underwhelming to watch Azpilicueta (bless his heart) being the FB on his side of the pitch. Luís would be much better. But all good things come in time. For now we have the Champions League... He's the reason we won the match today. I'm absolutely convinced Arsenal wouldn't be able to keep pressing us like that for much longer before his goal, but still he took matter into his hands and made it happen. He was lively throughout the whole match and it was a great performance by him. I don't have a lot of problems (or any problem) with our attack as some have here. Arsenal were very good pressing and marking, then things were a little bit in the air after the first goal and in the second we defended properly, I don't think we attacked badly. We were taking our sweet time when we couldn't quickly link a counter and we had a couple of good counters, for example the Hazard x Costa exchange - first when Hazard almost led their defender to score an own goal, receiving a past from Costa, and then Hazard finishing a bit too high receiving from Costa as well. We had five shots, three on goal and we scored twice. That's incredible numbers and people are spoiled imo. I'd rather have those numbers than ten shots, none on goal. We could have attacked more often, we didn't need though. We could have done better with a few counters, but it was an amazing match by us. I seriously can't find anything to complain, but I'm always positive, so maybe there's that.

the formula keep working I swear I'll post this every time it happens. I'm not even embarrassed.

Well, Mourinho, myself and the FA (or whoever decides official MOTM) must have watched other football match if we chose him the best in the match and the most common opinion in this thread is that he wasn't impressive except for that pass. I'm not going to be a broken record for the 100000th time and go on about how his dedication, pressing, marking and running is overlooked and underrated in this forum. You'd think this is Arsenal Mania based on how downgraded he constantly is (although ofc, a lot of people praise him for his offensive contributions). I'll leave his words about us though. “I am with this fantastic football club, with great coach, great players, great fans. I want to win everything, I'm hungry. I really want to do well for this club and I hope I can make it in the future.” - Cesc Fàbregas
