that is just awful

I volunteered to do cover work or as it is called in the US substituting at my kids school and the head master asked me to come in and interview for a position in science. It will only be part time this year which is good for now, if it turns into full time the next year or the year after that would be good. I will be teaching one IB Chem and two 9th grade biology classes! It is the same way I ended up teaching in China! LOL We miss the pace of life in Shanghai and our friends. We just found out our closest friends are headed home to Australia, so I would have been very lonely after that. Of course this just means now I want to visit them! Of course now that we are back our families expect more regular visits... That will be an adjustment! My mom is doing better physically but mentally it is like she suddenly has dementia. She is hard to understand, her grasp on what is happening is not there. It is hard because it was so sudden. My dad has hired someone to help him with the household chores and take him to doctor appointments which will remove some of the burden from my sister (the only one of us to still live by our parents). Oh! Good luck on your exams! I know you'll do great! Looking forward to congratulating you!!!

she is okay physically just weak, but mentally she is not. When you talk to her she makes sense and then she is talking weird stuff that you have no idea where it came from or how she got there. It will be a long road and probably not a full recovery. No, I am no longer in China. We moved back to the US in March. That has been an adjustment but it is going okay. I miss Asia.

Thanks, life has been crazy busy with the move, getting the kids settled, accidentally getting myself a job for the fall, and my mum has been in hospital. I am ready for a vacation too bad now that we are back in the US those will be few and far between. How have you been?

Freaking overwhelmed my mom had a subarachnoid hemorrhage and has been in hospital. On top of the move, buying a house, getting the kids settled, volunteering to substitute and getting hired to teach in the fall! ... Some day the whirl wind will put me down again

Beyond unpacking boxes I don't have much of a life except our cars, the kids starting a new school, oh and getting my dog back!

It happened very quickly do to a retirement in my husband's company. They wanted him back in the US and we made the move in 3 months.

yes and no, Shanghai had begun to feel like home and the expat life has many perks that will go away now. We won't be able to travel as much now that we are back in the US. The schools aren't as flexible with taking kids out of school and the kids will be more active in sports which means they will need to be here for practices and games. Plus Memphis is horribly expensive to fly in and out of! I tried to fly to Detroit for spring break and the tickets were $567 per person for a two hour flight! That is beyond crazy to me. I am glad to be in my own house which has land with it (almost 3 acres) and to have my dog back In 52 hours my husband and daughter arrive from Shanghai! I am extremely happy about that! I don't think I have ever been away from her for that long! I have from Doug but it doesn't make it easier! How are things for you?

Yes, on Sunday. Our stuff arrived from storage on Monday but it will be 6 weeks until the sea shipment from China arrives. Lots of un packing and organizing to do

Lonely...missing my husband and daughter who are still in Shanghai for another week! Excited because we finally get the house this week! Tired from having driven to MI and back in the last four days!
