  1. Do you know what makes me laugh? Fernando Torres €60m Porto and Benfica do what's possible to remain competitive and that means buy cheap and sell for millions. Unfortunately there ain't a Russian millionaire in every club on earth.
  2. Matiç won't leave Benfica for less than 40 €. The way things are here with all the pressure on the president and the coach... that would be the last nail on the coffin
  3. This lad has taken the portuguese league by storm. Incredible and I'm fully surprised. About this Partizan-Benfica-Zahavi-Chelsea situation Idk a thing and neither does any fan here in Portugal. I just hope he stays for a long time.
  4. Coentrao ain't the player he was before. I have to agree with you When he was a Benfica's player he was one of the best in the world. His confidence was at top and he was just incredible
  5. If you have an offer of 40 million and another of 20 I think that's an easy choice. Why blame portuguese clubs? We do whatever we can to remain strong and that means sell for the best price... Of course. If someone is willing to pay crazy money why refuse?? That would be poor management. On the other hand players that leave too early usually do bad at top clubs... (Quaresma, Simao - Barcelona; Anderson, Nani - Man. Utd; Hugo Viana - N'Castle etc.) Di maria hadn't a great season. He was a sub most of the time and didn´t have a decent run of games with consistency as he had for Benfica.
  6. That ain't true. Coentrao was a better player before leaving Benfica, he's lack of confidence at Madrid has accompanied him even in the NT. I guess the same applies to Di Maria. Hulk played for 4 years in Japan (!!) and when he arrived he was pathetic. His 1st season was terrible and Porto really made him the beast he is. Portuguese staff is among the best. With (way) fewer resources we are competitive in Europe and develop our talents good enough.
  7. That would be the best. He ain't ready for the Premier League (he wouldn't even be 1st choice in Benfica or Porto) but he shows a lot of promise. Btw Portugal has been knocked out of the U20 WC. Terrible defending pays off. Bruma, Joao Mario, Andre Gomes, Tiago Ilori and Joao Cancelo are excellent prospects
  8. I'm a Benfiquista But I do recognize talent where it's at
  9. In a nutshell. He's extremely fast and has great technique. I think he's turning out an excellent left winger although he's right footed. He cuts inside well enough and really has a nose for goal. What I think distinguishes him best from other past talented players that didn't make it (Quaresma, Fabio Paim...) it's his intelligence both in and outside the pitch. He's not selfish at all and has really improved his decision making in the past months. He clearly knows that staying in Portugal for a year or two is the best choice. He has been quoted saying that he prefers to extend his contract and stay here. This says a lot about his mindset. He's not money-driven at all but his agent is making it difficult for Sporting...
  10. don't get it. judging by the u20 WC english youth teams are utter shit and 18 year old english players are sold for far more than what is being quoted for bruma he's a regular for sporting and I've seen him since the beginning (youth teams, sporting b ). he's a prospect. the most promising portuguese winger since nani
  11. Big prospect... Atm he's in the u20 world cup and has 5 goals in 3 games
  12. but ofc! I won't even discuss that. I've said it here before - Matiç is the best player I've seen playing for us. Better than Di Maria, Coentrao, Witsel, David Luiz, Ramires... you name them He won't go for less than 40 million. That's for sure
  13. "shine against those shitty teams" you sound ridiculous. are you forgetting the last benfica-chelsea matches? chelsea may have won... but you do know which team played better 3 times in a row
  14. don't worry... Benfica has already signed Djuricic
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjPS6e4-tvU idk where else to put it. if you want to see some from matic.. recommend
  16. IMO he's already one of the top... I'm no Matic's fanboy. Every Benfica fan will tell you something alike... He's really a step above... Incredible technique, stamina, intelligence, strength, work-rate He makes Javi Garcia look pathetic in comparison really... the player he replaced
  17. From all the players I've seen playing for Benfica (including these) he's the one who's overwhelmed me the most.
  18. He is. In fact he's the best player I've seen playing for us > Di Maria, David Luiz, Ramires, Coentrao, Aimar, Simao, Witsel...
  19. I remember watching both games between Braga and Besiktas and thinking that Braga was far superior... The referee had a say in those games... In fact I'm not familiarized with your league, but I think you spend way too much money (Gala, Fener) for the end product you get. It's kind of odd that you can't compare the budgets, but we do really step up with fewer resources. You are right about the rest. Benfica and Porto usually dominate the league, but that doesn't mean the other teams are weak... Sporting finished 7th this season and they hadn't a bad team by any way
  20. I think he is one of the best LB's in the game. If he can straight up again I guess he'll shine. I think that Mourinho and premier league would do him wonders... However I can only hope that he returns where he belongs. Benfica
  21. not really. I guess you know your best teams don't stand a chance against Benfica or Porto Fener was outclassed in every way by us. And Trabzonspor didn't do better some time ago... Overall I think there's less young talent in your league than in ours. Although you have way more cash... btw I remember Yilmaz playing for Trab against us. Looked dangerous but not Chelsea material....
  22. Mangala is really tough. I guess he'd do better in England than in Portugal... He still has some problems with technical players... Although he's fast, strong and can jump higher than Ronaldo! You heard this from a Benfiquista. I guess he would fit perfectly in England
  23. Sources in Portugal say he's already a Benfica player. His manager has been quoted talking about the transfer... After Matic, Djuricic, Sulejmani, Mitrovic (a CB that has been confirmed today), Uros Matic (Matic's younger brother) that's the 6th serbian! Guess we're Serbia Lisbon and Benfica by now...
  24. Such a tough week to be a Benfiquista... Wish you all the best. Hope you don't want Matic back...
