I think we can officially forget about this one. He has agreed a 5 year deal with City, as reported by Sky Sports and City's own website.
-
I know this deal is about as unlikely as they come because of how highly Bayern Munich rate him but my God this man is the perfect buy. Genuinely one of the very best central midfielders on the planet, no frills, no overhyping, this guy is the real deal. Tonight when the pressure was on for Germany, he produces, he does it in the big games, he is a leader and he is a top class footballer.
-
He can play either wing but he can also play behind a striker who is a position where his creativity would benefit Chelsea. Personally I've never been a huge fan of his, however I can understand why the club might make a move for him. He is fast, skillful and creative, all things that perhaps we could do with in the starting line up. Yes he would cost 30 million and upwards but at the end of the day thats how much any talented established player is going to cost, if James Milner costs 25 million then David Silva will cost 30+ million.
-
Easily my favourite non Chelsea player, since being moved into a central midfield role the man has flourished. The natural succesor to Ballack in the German team and potentially the Chelsea team, a very clever player who keeps a team ticking, has a great array of passing and has a creative touch about him, a real driving force in midfield. To be honest if I had one dream signing this Summer it would be Schweinsteiger.
-
To be fair he is well connected in Spain

12.40 Fascinating stuff from Guillem Balague on Sky Sports News just now. His understanding is that Fernando Torres has been made aware of interest from Inter Milan, Juventus and Manchester City but would not be interested in a move to any of that trio. He would, though, be keen on a switch to Chelsea. Watch this space... Balague is a decent source, this would make my Summer (and the whole of next season) if we could sign Torres, putting aside the Liverpool hate the man is one of the top strikers on the planet who would improve any team he is apart of, including us.

What is Your Chelsea starting line for 2011 season
The Big Drog replied to Jose M's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I think the signings of Benayoun and Srna look likely, personally I welcome the additions of such talented players into the squad as they are versatile and add some depth to it. Though I do expect one major big name signing(Aguero) -
Highlights of the season...

Drogba's freekick against Arsenal at the Emirates is probably my favourite moment of the season, the goal and the celebration just said so much about the man. Drogba vs. Athletico Madrid was also a big moment. Lampard's second goal against Liverpool really hit home just how close the Premier League was to being ours again. Drogba's first against Wigan, he clearly wanted it so much and it meant so much to him to win the Golden Boot. Drogba's FA Cup final freekick, watching the game with my 2 brothers (Man Utd fans) and friends (Man Utd fans). Hit the woodwork an incredible 5 times in the first half and it looked like it wasn't going to be our day, we conceded the penalty and I was suddenly mobbed with ridicule, Cech saved the penalty and I was relieved and then Drogba struck an awesome freekick to clinch it just two minutes after the penalty and then it was my turn to ridicule. -
He did and that it was a rather ignorant mistake on his part but in fairness to him in the same sentence while making the same point he refrenced the ACN and used the word "Africans" so clearly he didn't mean he is against the club signing black players, rather he is agains the club signing African players. I dont agree with the point that we shouldn't sign African players, its only one month once every two seasons and if Yaya Toure could help us to domestic and European glory, and I think he could, then I would be all for the signing.
-
Cant believe the negative comments Im seeing here. I would put Yaya Toure in my top 5 best holding midfielders list any day. I feel our midfield really does lack pace and drive and thats what Yaya Toure brings, the guy is strong, fast, good on the ball and versatile (played centre back in a Champions League final), I want to see a new striker and a new central midfielder arrive at the club in the Summer and Toure ticks all the boxes of what I think Chelsea need in a player. At 27 he is at a good age, not young enough to be considered inexperienced and not old enough to be considered past it. No offence to Obi Mikel because he is an ever improving player but a midfield of Toure, Essien and Lampard is formidable.
-
25 or 30 million is probably over the odfds but in the modern day transfer climate thats the sort of prices we are talking to secure a very good, promising player. I think a central midfielder is needed, at times our lack of pace in midfield has been exposed, the likes of Mikel and Ballack dont have the legs to get around midfield and the same goes to Lampard but to a far lesser extent. A midfield of Essien, Lampard and Milner would be perfect.

3 years of demons summed up in John Terry’s post match celebration speech ended. A spectacular victory to end a spectacular season. A record smashing season, a defining season, a season of stability and the beginning of change. Carlo Ancelotti arrived in London from Italy a man with the reputation of being one of the best managers in Europe, though not a man to win you a league. Neutrals doubted the appointment, some going as far as to say he would only last 6 months in the Stamford Bridge hotseat, even certain sections of Chelse afans doubted the 2 time Champions League winner. Carlo Ancelotti’s cool, calming presence, his tactical noose, his man management, his faith in the players and his humility in putting the players before himself is what makes this Chelsea manager a great one. A landmark day for Chelsea as once and for all, the spectre of Jose Mourinho was wiped from Stamford Bridge by his rival Carlo Ancelotti. Didier Drogba was finished as a player. Not in Phil Scolari’s thoughts, age and injuries taking their toll, he looked a shell of the player who once ran riot against the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal. Enjoyed a resurgence of sorts under Hiddink but still they said his days as a top flight centre forward were behind him. How wrong they were, his greatest ever season, the Premier League golden boot winner and deservedly so capped off a career defining season with a hat trick. Jamie Redknapp said it after the game, when its all said and done, Didier Drogba will be remembered with the likes of Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer, how right he is, Drogba this season led the line of the highest scoring team in Premier League history. Frank Lampard has a horrid first half to the season, super Frank could not buy a goal from open play. The African Cup of Nations rolls around, Ancelotti switches to a 4-3-3 and suddenly the Frank Lampard of old shows up and shows up in a big way, having his greatest ever goal scoring season, Frank Lampard once again solidified his claim to being the finest central midfielder of his generation. John Terry went through personal and public hell this season but it has ended with him on the podium raising the Premier League high above his head. Terry has come in for some stick for his on field performances and while he did go through a rocky patch around the middle of the season, Chelsea fans will tell you that for the most part he has been excellent, a pillar of stability in an ever changing back four. Of course there were others who played a big role, Branislav Ivanovic was the undisputed best right back in the league, he stepped up to the plate this season in Bosingwa’s absense. Ashley Cole was magnificent, his best ever season in a Chelsea shirt. Alex established himself as the first choice centre back. John Obi Mikel had the unenviable task of replacing Michael Essien and he did a fine job. Florent Malouda had an all star season and became a key man in the Chelsea side. Nicolas Anelka played second fiddle to Drogba but for a man playing second fiddle he did it better than many others could. There was blips along the way, there is likely to be changes in the Summer as Ancelotti said and there is a very good chance of big money being spent. Farewell to Belletti and Deco and potentially Carvalho, Ballack, Joe Cole, Hilario, Anelka and Ballack. Chelsea are undoubtedly the deserving champions this season and for that credit must be given to the entire squad but not least of all Carlo Ancelotti, finally embraced by the Stamford Bridge faithful today, Ancelotti has truly made Stamford Bridge his backyard.

Stamford the Lion hates Chipmunk

This guy is so insignificant that he was performing in Waterford in a small venue a few months back (Waterford is my hometown and in Ireland) and he couldn't even sell out the place....pathetic. -
Frank Lampard gets my vote. Was buzzing about midfield all game, getitng into challenges, even in the first 30 minutes when things weren't going our way he was the one trying to turn the tide. When we did get on top he controlled the game masrerfully and rightly got the goal that sealed the game.

Well if I was nervous last night Im bloody sick this morning. Dropping points against the Scousers this morning would be the very worst way to lose a league, giving Liverpool fans and Man Utd fans a chance to gloat. Come on Chelsea, smash the Scousers!
-
Im quite nervous, need a big performance from the lads tomorrow but Anfield and Liverpool, no matter how poor a season they may be having, is never an easy place to go and pick up all three points. I pray to the footballing Gods that Michael Ballack does not start tomorrow, seriously against Gerrard it must be Mikel.

Tremendous accolade for a tremendous human being. The man is utterly dedicated to his charity work, his efforts to help those living in poverty in Africa is much needed and raises awarness of the problem in our countries. On top of his charity work and his work at home, Drogba is the face of African football at a time when the World Cup will be held in Africa for the first time, for the entire Africa nation is monumentous. On top of all of his good work, he is one of, if not thee, greatest striker on the planet and he uses his fame from football for very worthy causes. Congratulations Didier Drogba. -
Must be Drogba, a commanding, technically superb display.
-
Raging after the Spurds collapsed in typical fashion and Man Utd were granted their customary two penalties. Absolutely massive game tomorrow. Under pressure, two points behind, against a tough Stoke team and without our inspirational captain, time to show that we really want this league. Good boost to have Ivanovic and Cole back, not sure though how Zhirkov will do playing infield more.

No mate he is definitely out, confirmed by Sky Sports News.com
-
Good news on that front mate, Torres is out for the rest of thew season, he needs knee surgery.
-
A poor performance, ok a very poor performance still does not make the club captain a liability. Yes he had a rough patch after the Bridge scandal but in recent weeks the man has been a brick at the heart of the defence, he has been in stunning form. Terry has set his standards so high and our expectations so high that when he fails to live up to them (like against Spurs) its instantly recognisable. Despite his poor performance, Terry is a genuinely top notch centre back and arguably the greatest captain Chelsea have seen in quite some years. Far from a liability, he is one of our greatest assets.
-
Under the high throw and intense pressure Stoke bring to the table, I would like to see Ivanovic moved into centre back to partner Alex. I cant see Ashley Cole starting this one, against a physical team like Stoke it would just be too risky. I wish there was another option at right back but at this crucial stage of the season Ancelotti wont play Bruma and Im not sure how Belletti is doing injury wise so I guess we mya have to endure Ferreira again.
-
Really poor, really slow, just like against City and Wigan earlier in the season, the flaws in the side were really shown up yesterday against the Spuds. In midfield there is Deco, Lampard, Mikel(and Ballack when he replaced Mikel) on the wings were Malouda and Joe Cole. Id love to know which of thoe 5 players is the one who is supposed to inject a bit of pace into our play. Malouda has had a stunning season but the man is not lightening fast, neither is Joe Cole and our 3 man central midfield has all the speed the rock metamorphic cycle. Spurs attacks yesterday were quick and precise, in comparison ours were slow and laboured. Central midfield is an area that needs a serious look at in the Summer as well as a new winger. Shit result, still a point ahead and surely it should be a kick up the backside to the lads that they cant get complacent, that they cant afford to drop anymore points. Personally Im looking forward to the Summer, next season if we lose as many games as we have this season we will be lucky to get third, let alone first, the deadweight must go(starting with Paulo Ferriera) The positives: Petr Cech who was bloody magnificent in goal. The negatives: Everything else.

I see Kalou play and I wonder if vision is really neccesary to play at the highest level because the amount of dead ends that man runs down is truly remarkable.
