I don't agree with all the anti-Benitez rhetoric and I've said that pretty much since day one, but you're clearly a troll on the wind up. It's not even subtle anymore and your comments aren't an intelligent, honest defence of Rafa but rancid bait to goad and mock people. The fact that you've continued for so long is pitiful.
-
He's good enough right now. You don't score 13 league goals in your first season of regular play without being ready.
-
Mourinho has been playing 4231 in Madrid hasn't he? And what midfield best suits Mata? He's been our best player this season, but you'd happily see us revert to 433 to better suit a 35 year old and the only Brazilian in the world who can't pass a ball over 10 yards??? I don't hear anyone saying the system doesn't suit Lamps when he's scoring two goals against Everton or knocking it around against Stoke but those have been the exception this season.
-
QPR? Southampton? Steaua? Reading? Newcastle? Let me ask you a simple question - we have to win every league game this season. Do you start him in any of them ahead of Mikel and Ramires?
-
This RAWK troll has some stamina I'll give him that.
-
I disagree with those people, and I don't think you're accurate in you view. What position does he play in the team? Double pivot? He simply isn't good enough in that position and we're likely to buy a new player for that position in the summer anyway. How many games in the last two months has he actually looked like Frank Lampard? One? Two maybe? I love the guy but his contribution this season hasn't been good enough and he'd be the first to admit that.

Torres isn't back, but he was MOTM today. He changed the game with a bit of direct running and he worked his bollocks off which got the crowd into it too. Luiz and Ivanovic were solid but Sunderland were completely toothless going forward. They still created some opportunities but they never looked like scoring after the opening excitement. Mikel looked great going forward, Toure-esque at points and maybe we need to look to let him go forward more rather than staying back and shielding the defence. But a good day, except for the Quins result.

People just can't be bothered to be so angry at someone for so long I don't think, especially when the sun's shining. I want him gone as soon as the season ends but I think he deserves a bit of credit for the way he's handled the last week. Four games in such a short period of time is tough for any team, but with our small squad it was always going to be a struggle. Three wins out of four and another trip to Wembley ain't too bad.

Do you honestly think his performances have been deserving of a new contract?
-
No, it is. There's been no patience in the team despite their best moments coming from slow, controlled build-up play. Cardiff came with a game plan to disrupt the midfield and Mackay won the battle of the managers. Taking off Battocchio was a step in the right direction because he was the worst culprit but it's just been a frustrating watch.
-
Franco has seriously fucked this game up. They've had most success knocking the ball around and building play up slowly yet they persist with humping balls forward, skipping their midfield an abdicating possession. It's the classic problem with loaning players to lower-league clubs. You surround them with players who simply aren't as good and sometimes they can elevate the performances of players around them, and sometimes they get dragged down with them.

So frustrating watching his teammates pump aimless balls forward rather than try and build from the back.

Is Chalobah ready for the first-team?
The only place to be replied to The only place to be's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
No, I just don't rate him on one game and I don't go over the top criticising him when he has a tough half. Also Battocchio could do with taking some time rather than looking to get the ball forward whether it's the best choice or not. And with that, he's off. -
They're struggling to create space which is clumping everyone together, and then creating lots of space further up the pitch. They need to stick to what they've been doing all season and have a bit more patience. Beautiful nuts on Bellamy, although a heavy touch afterwards.

Hardly. When Watford have been at their best, everything's been going through him. It isn't his best performance but when he's on the ball he's looking to make things happen, but Cardiff are working their bollocks off. -

So is Roy Hodgson....Can't think who else he'd be there to watch to be honest. -
Can't believe Clarkey didn't start with Lukaku. He's the perfect striker to play against Arsenal and if he isn't in the right frame of mind to play, why stick him on the bench?

This campaign is genuinely brilliant. It might be a little silly at first glance but it's got fans everywhere talking about it so fair play to Adidas and The Corner. 99% of campaigns are going to be players standing in the kits looking moody so why not have a bit of fun with it? I imagine it'll prove to be very meme-worthy as well. They've also tapped into a vein of honesty - I'm going to buy the kit no matter what. I've still got the graphite and tangerine number (which still fits, thangyouverymuch) so design really doesn't matter much and ultimately the best kits are the ones with the best memories associated with them. -
I'm going to submit my FUT team on Monday - they'll be well impressed. I think Schurrle is a useful player, but clearly someone at the club has seen something in him and based on what they've done over the last 12 months I'm going to trust them. But believe me, when the rumours first started coming out and they said we were actually selling him I was gutted. But 12 months out on loan at a Champions League club and we get someone who fills our immediate needs better actually makes a lot of sense.
-
He is a young talent....but he's also a German international with 22 caps and Champions League experience. If the club is doing what I'm thinking (getting a guy who is a winger but also covers the number 9 spot) then it's pretty good squad building. I also think this is pretty good use of De Bruyne to reduce the price of Schurrle. Next year we'll have plenty of options (especially if Piazon comes back as well) with Mata and Oscar through the centre and Moses, Hazard and Schurrle on the wings (plus Oscar and maybe Piazon, or even Marin) and then Lukaku, Ba and Schurrle up top (assuming Torres leaves). That creates plenty of interesting combinations to deal with different circumstances. And then you have to think in 2014/2015 we have De Bruyne coming back, maybe to play alongside these guys or possibly replace one of them.
-
You wouldn't incude a player whose contract situation is up in the air. It's as simple as that. I still think Mourinho's appointment could change things but in terms of Frank Lampard the player and not Frank Lampard the Chelsea icon, I don't know if he's doing enough on the pitch to earn a new contract.
-
Ignoring the fact that I'm sure the board can chase more than one target at once (as well as a manager if you believe the reports), Schurrle just seems to fit the needs of the squad better. De Bruyne can play wide but clearly someone in our scouting department has seen something special in this guy. I'm inclined to trust them. He can also play as a striker which gives us three options with him, Lukaku and Ba up front assuming we ship off Torres. You've also got to wonder what the plans are for Piazon next year, and to a lesser extent Kakuta.

Ah shit.....great song though. Been my ringtone on many a phone and instantly transports me to the Bridge whenever I hear it. -
Saw him make his debut in a pre-season friendly at Gillingham of all places. One of the most elegant footballers we've ever had and he could do it all. One of the turning points in the mid-90s but I doubt he would've come had it not been for Hoddle. And now we've got his son (Ake) coming up through the ranks too.

That's actually an imaginative ad campaign. Granted they all look like Smurfs, but it'll get some attention and the 'action' shots actually look cool. I imagine if Spurs did something similar it would look like a Bukkake video.
