Probably more likely he ends up at Liverpool as he's a guaranteed starter over there. Real Madrid will definitely make a push but with so many young class midfielders already, he may not get the game time he wants...
-
How does the Europa League game get called off but then the Brentford v Arsenal game is still on? Lack of consistency by the league and European competition.
-
I do hope we look at alternative options as Declan Rice will be at least 100+ million (based on West Ham's f*ck off price tag of 150 million) and he's definitely not worth that.

It's like any job out there, if you fight with your bosses, you're unlikely to be staying there for a long period of time. Tuchel is no different. He could have tried to work with the new ownership group but just like PSG, he fell out with the board and that was the end.
-
It's probably more down to the fact that the club & Tuchel wanted Raphinha badly for that right flank role and they didn't really go after any other attacking options till it was too late in the window. Arsenal also enquired about Raphinha and bid on him but they went for alternative options as soon as they were told that the player would wait for a Barcelona bid. They had a clear run at Jesus after he rejected Spurs.

If that's the case, just sounds like it's part of their plan. Sell him off for a huge fee, get him to do that interview, bring him back for a season for 1/10th of his transfer fee, send him back to Chelsea the following season, he starts throwing a tantrum acting all angry and upset and then Chelsea eventually agree to sell him back to Inter Milan for a low transfer fee to get rid of the problem.

As expected, the weekend's fixtures are called off. Might be a good thing for the players as they get a chance to actually train with Potter in charge.
-
I see them quite similar to Southampton, they had a solid run under Poch before he went to the dark side of London and they've been able to attract solid managers since then. They make smart transfer decisions and know when to sell their players for a nice profit. Brighton isn't that different and I'd be surprised if they can't attract a good young manager

Joe Hart was popular at City prior to Pep coming in....then he was asked to play out from the back, he refused and Pep went ahead and got the keeper that he wanted who was comfortable with the ball at his feet. I don't see Graham making any drastic GK decisions unless Mendy continues to be poor. You would think he'd eventually revert to his average performance which is good enough to help us get points.

The most successful clubs tend to play their way out of issues and it doesn't look this bad and disjointed game after game after game. I really did think that the writing was on the wall after that horrid performance vs Southampton (like it was the same team that huffed & puffed against United but they couldn't do anything and they literally walked through our defense like they were wearing an invisibility cloak!) Wonder if Tuchel's overall relationship with his 'attackers'....Pulisic, Ziyech, Werner all frustrated, Lukaku showing off his ego, Havertz being allergic to finishing...ended up costing him his job.
-
It's also to do with the dressing room, like if the majority of players are still listening and accepting the manager's message and applying the game plan he has trained them for during the week...then I guess Tuchel would still be the manager of the club. I don't think the Liverpool players gave up on Klopp even when VVD went down with that nasty injury as they have other players who would run through walls for Klopp (Henderson and a few others) and support his message. With Rudiger gone, who is left to back up Tuchel's message? It's basically Thiago Silva and no one else.....and then you have the whole attack complaining about a lack of freedom. Werner at times last season looked frustrated and upset when left out, Pulisic was in and out, same for Ziyech and let's not even start on the headache that was Lukaku.
-
That performance vs Arsenal in the pre-season might have been the start of all this and the end for Mr. Tuchel. The way they pulled us apart without really trying was borderline pathetic.
-
Not only that, there was a worrying article from Nizaar or one of the other Chelsea reporters where they basically said Tuchel would purposely not pick certain attackers if they weren't defensively sound. Like I get the theory behind playing team defense but not every attacker out there is going to be happy to do that, some players need that freedom in the final third to be able to make mistakes and express themselves.
-
Is this type of manager even available? Poch? Not really, he's got history with Spuds and the egos from the PSG Dressing room (Neymar, Mbappe and co kicked him out)....same will happen at Chelsea Zizou? Would love to see him in the PL but I don't see him taking this project. Potter? Would be the obvious choice but not sure if he leaves Brighton so soon into the season.

To be honest, the start of last season, things were going relatively well, then we sort of struggled, then we had issues at the back end of last season with Lukaku wanting out. The start of this season is just replicating what happened at the end of last season. There are CLEARLY two players who don't want to be here (Pulisic and Ziyech) and not only did we keep them, we're actually playing them. I would be shocked if Fulham don't win the match on the weekend, Mitrovic will have a field day against our CB's. This has shades of that infamous Mourinho season where we were 15th or 16th before Uncle Guus came in to paper over the cracks.
-
Well of course the comments haven't gone down well...it's almost the same set of players he had last season (with the exception of Werner, Lukaku leaving and the two CB's departing on free transfers). Feels like Tuchel is trying to be Mourinho when facing the media but he doesn't have the ability to drop players like Mourinho did in the past. The real problem is, if you're playing like shit and you get to start every week, how does that make every other player feel in the team? It's not like we have a Hazard or Lampard to save the day with a goal or assist.
-
The only competition where it would 'affect' City is Champions League knockout stages. City could play in 2nd gear for the rest of the PL and they'd still finish top 2 without breaking a sweat. I don't see them struggling against too many sides other than Spurs & Liverpool and I guess United as Rashford doesn't mind a goal against City. I was sort of hoping Bernardo would be sold just to see how Pep re-adjusted his team and tactics without his skill-set but it looks like they didn't really lose anyone as G. Jesus and Sterling's attacking outputs will be covered by Haaland and young Alvarez.
-
Will be interesting to see if we overpay Mendy with the new contract. It's quite obvious that his biggest weaknesses are: - Rushing out of goal - Poor with the ball at his feet (can't deal with any sort of pressure) - His general command of the defense in set piece situations
-
"We at least try to play football" We basically got taken apart by both Leicester & West Ham at home and couldn't deal with Leeds pressing us. VAR saved us from another 2 dropped points against West Ham. As for your comment about counter attacking football being boring, have you watched peak Mourinho & Conte teams in action? It was some very good football and it always lead to chaos and goals. Much rather that than watching people pass the ball sideways and backwards for no reason other than to 'retain possession'. Possession stats mean nothing at the end of the day as no-one wants to be remembered as the team that tried to play football and had 60% average possession in each game but they finished 6th because their attack had the finishing ability of a Championship side. United seem to have found the way to get results and as many people mentioned last season, the key to their offense is a motivated Rashford. When Rashford is on and he is scoring goals, they don't need to get out of 2nd gear as long as the midfielders are good enough to play those through balls or over the top passes on the counter.

He'll probably walk back into Serie A in the summer.
-
Would be part of the rebuilding process, the club keeping options open on midfielders with both Kante & Jorginho out of contract Maybe we can throw Ziyech into the deal and get rid of another player that wants to leave.
-
Kepa was decent enough when called upon last season. Wonder if Mendy does get dropped if he lets in another howler like he did against Leeds.
-
Imagine that, Kovacic going under the knife, Kante & Jorginho's contract set to expire in June 2023... big decisions to be made in the summer! Onto the game, hope we get a good home win to get back on track before a tough game against in-form Mitrovic and Fulham.
-
We had no choice but to sign 2 CB's due to the fact that the previous management allowed two quality defenders to stay at the club without signing some sort of extension on their contract (especially in Christensen's case where a 5 year and 4 year contract was tabled by the club and he outright refused to sign). As for the Lukaku deal, it's a bit of a head scratcher as to why that deal went ahead if the player was not Tuchel's top pick. Surely the club wouldn't just go out and spend 97 million on an attacker without the manager's seal of approval. I hope for Tuchel's case that he starts delivering results sooner or later because with the amount of money spent in this window, the media will slaughter him if we're not capable of retaining our top 4 spot in the league. Looks like it's going to be a proper fight with all of the traditional top 6 in the mix...

I think both Pulisic and CHO should have been allowed to leave the club. Better than watching Pulisic play as a wingback for no reason. Either play him up top behind the striker or don't play him at all. Does Tuchel not have a Plan B for when our wingbacks are unavailable? Surely if he's adamant on playing the 1 system, we should have signed a decent backup RWB for Reece rather than relying on the veteran body of Azpi (who has lost a step in pace) to keep up with the opposition's left flank players. Same thing can be said about Gallagher, like what a waste of his offensive talents by making him play in a pivot...a position that he hasn't played much in his career to date (think West Brom tried him there a few times but they realized he offered so much more further up the pitch).
