You answered your own question, Chalobah is at best a good HG squad option to have, nothing more. If Chalobah was starting quality, I doubt the club would have gone out and spent big money on the likes of Koulibaly, Badiashile, Fofana in recent windows. If you are an opposition striker and you see Chalobah as the starting CB in a back 4 system, you'd be licking your lips at the opportunity to score a few goals.

They wouldn't want to create a situation of keeping an unhappy player and going back on their word as that would hurt them in the future with other young players who see Brighton as a good stepping stone for their development. Brighton are just holding out because they just saw West Ham get around 100 million for Rice. We should do what United did and ask for a face to face meeting, put our final offer on the table and if they reject it, we gotta move on for alternatives.
-
Well you would think now is the time to sign players as we've gotten rid of most of the deadwood in the first team squad (other than Lukaku, Auba).
-
Probably because he played more of a right midfielder type of role for Santos....not sure if he's played that many games as a traditional striker, seems to be more of a winger with that dribbling ability on the flanks.
-
Sounds like another version of Pulisic....consistently picking up injuries for no reason.
-
I don't think Morata has ever been amazing, he generally gets to about 15 goals a season (league + european football). As for Vlahovic, feel like the step up to Juventus was too soon for him, same as Jovic struggling after going from Frankfurt to Real Madrid.
-
We tried to move for Ugarte but then PSG overpowered us for him and for whatever reason we still haven't put in a bid for Lavia (who will be a star for years to come in the PL) Now the rumors of Arsenal going back in for Caicedo (if they sell Partey to Saudi League)...once again, the club has shown zero planning when it comes to getting transfers done early! Arsenal wanted a midfielder, they got Rice, Newcastle got Tonali, United got Mount, Liverpool got MacAllister and likely to get Lavia/Thuram/someone else into their midfield Why is it only us struggling to sign any midfielders and giving them as much time as possible to settle into Poch's tactics?
-
Still can't believe we're dragging on the Caicedo negotiations. Surely we could have moved for an alternative midfielder by now.
-
Lukaku was the one who begged Inter Milan to save him from Chelsea...not sure why he needs to feel appreciated by them.
-
The only deadwood that will be hard to shift is Ziyech & Sarr. They have next to no value in the transfer market. CHO is still a HG winger so one of the PL clubs will take a chance on him, Ampadu will get a deal as he'd be useful squad player for a number of sides and Lukaku should be going back to Inter once they finalize the Onana deal. Are these really question marks? We're stuck with Cucurella for the foreseeable future (same issue that we had with Kepa and that horrible contract/transfer fee that was paid). You would think Chuks sticks around as we have no other options in midfield. Right now it's Enzo + Gallagher + *fingers crossed that no-one else decides to bid for Caicedo*
-
Except Felix would cost double the transfer fee and he's not worth 80 million.
-
I don't think the math works out. Atletico were originally looking for close to 80 million for a Felix deal....and no club out there is going to value Cucurella at more than 30-35 million. I'd be surprised if Felix isn't a Manchester United player (on loan) by deadline day. They've always held an interest and he'd be perfect depth for their attack alongside Rashford, Bruno and co.
-
As usual....the market has gone a bit quiet so the twitter journos need to get their clicks.
-
The only reason why I see Cherki doing well enough in the PL is because he's got dribbling ability and plenty of time to develop. Veiga would look bang average for most teams other than City/Liverpool (because they already have star players).
-
David is an interesting option but I don't think he's a huge upgrade on young Jackson who we've signed from La Liga. If we're looking for a short term option, I wouldn't mind getting Ben Yedder from Monaco, still a very good finisher in front of goal.
-
And to think every club just let City walk into the transfer market and pick up not one but two top class finishers on the cheap!
-
If the club is stupid enough to let Colwill go to Liverpool and give them a VVD replacement...there is nothing left to say. 🤬
-
The kid has a contract at Chelsea till 2025, let him show up for pre-season and talk to Poch before we start coming to conclusions about him being toxic.
-
Yea, I remember that. Mourinho coming out and basically saying that KdB didn't really adapt to his training methods and then proceeding to strongly back Oscar over him (because Oscar did the dirty work/tracked back). It really is a shame that we sold KdB for peanuts to the Bundesliga without even giving him a chance to play in his natural position!
-
You can take Collins off the list, just recently moved to Brentford for 23 million.
-
Aubameyang, Firmino, Sane have all had success in the Premier League The ones that tend to struggle are the attacking midfielders who don't really have a clear position in the premier league (e.g. Pulisic, Sancho, Havertz, Kagawa etc)
-
We're possibly talking about the best academy player we've had since Reece/Mason made the breakthrough to first team football If we can't give Colwill meaningful minutes this season then is there a point in having an academy?
-
I actually agree with this, he did play way too much but maybe thats because most of the team looked like they didn't care and at least with gallagher he ran around the pitch and tried to put the effort in. @OneMoSalah At no point did I compare the two players quality wise. Mount is a far better player and there is no doubt about that. I was simply saying that Mount ran off to United at the first opportunity he had. All this talk of pulled contract offers and things going on behind the scenes but at the end of the day, he was an academy player and he could have signed a 12 month deal with the club with a release clause in place. At least that way we could have planned for his departure rather than frantically trying to sign 2-3 midfielders. Compare that to Gallagher who kept on saying that he wanted a chance at Chelsea (whilst he was on loan at both West Brom & Crystal Palace). I get that his first season at Chelsea wasn't the best but what did people expect from him? Maybe with a coach that has done well with youngsters he'll be able to grow his game and be a possible goalscorer for us off the bench.
-
Cucurella hate is based on the transfer fee paid for an average player. If we had signed Cucurella for 25-30 million (like what City originally proposed), I wouldn't have cared that much. Not sure why Gallagher gets so much hate. He's literally what you want for a HG squad player who is actually keen on playing for the club. Unlike his buddy Mount who couldn't wait to join Manchester United for an extra 50k a week.
-
Isn't the Valencia keeper being linked to Bayern? We can't compete with them We'll probably end up with Raya on deadline day for 25 million or something along those lines
