Yes I see your point - though the Community Shield to me is a great curtain raiser to the season, and all the money goes to charity. The League Cup is so important to all 92 clubs, as Lampard said, and is a massive source of revenue to lower league clubs. Basically the current proposal is an unashamed power grab by those clubs with the most money, taking advantage of the Covid situation in that so many clubs are struggling, and laughs in the face of democracy. One solution I would advocate would be a 10% transfer tax, with money going to EFL clubs that need it the most.

Nine clubs given 'special voting rights' on certain issues, based on their extended runs in the Premier League.
