2 In his first seasons he scored a few long range goals, but I can't recall any in his last 2 seasons. Most of his shots tend to be a bit overpowered and high. Hopefully Frank will help him a bit with his accuracy. Great assist for the Oscar-goal, could have been his second with the nice cross for Hazard a bit earlier. Wasn't his best game though, he will only get better during the season.

This source should be reliable. Belgian journalist based in England to report on Belgian players in the EPL.

² Still fear that aswell. Had the same injury in the past as was able to walk on my own aswell.

You can't expect him to be the star for the rest of the season, that's true. That's something for players like Hazard and Mata with more experience at that level. That being said, De Bruyne will get his chance and after seeing him grow at Genk (seen every game) and his progression at Werder Bremen, I couldn't be more convinced that he will take it. He combines technical ability, vision, passing and shooting with lots of workrate, stamina and determination. You can see in the last few games that he's a bit of a natural leader on the pitch, because he is so determined to put pressure on the opposition, always asks for the ball, takes set-pieces,... He's also perfect for Mourinho's game with his direct style of passing. Give him the ball and he will always try to play the ball forward. Other players tend to hold up the ball, play it back to midfielders or defenders, but De Bruyne's got great tempo in his playing-style, which is a great advantage against organised "smaller" teams. These matches were indeed against "crappy" opposition, but he has proved that he can perform against top-players with the national team. Against Serbia he played against Ivanovic en Kolarov and outplayed them in both games.

He made his debut in a pre-season-friendly. "While the Belgian league isn't great it's still rare for a 16 year old to play for the top team" is a bit premature after one game in pre-season. Big talent though...
-
If anyone could create a video about his performance, that would be great!

It's his best friend. Wrote him a song when he left Belgium for Chelsea/Werder too : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm8jMTBVSIs

I've read the complete article in the paper. Some more things, all quotes from Piet De Visser : I understand KDB will stay at Chelsea for pre-season. Mourinho will decide what happens next. Loaning him to Dortmund or Leverkusen? So be it. But I don't think they will sell him. Will KDB play enough games at Chelsea next season? Chelsea plays 70 games in a season. It needs more then 11 good players. I think and hope that he will play 30 or 40 games at Chelsea. Who knows, maybe he can become the next Lampard, but he's a living legend at Chelsea, that's something KDB will have to earn. But KDB can also play in a more attacking role and compete with Oscar, Mata and Hazard. I must admit, I'm very proud of "discovering" KDB. Lots of clubs (Spanish, Englisch, German) ask me : Piet, bring us De Bruyne. That satisfies me. After all, I'm the one who brought him to Chelsea. Just like Hazard at the age of 15, I recommended him back then. The first time I saw him play with Genk, he gave such a wonderfull impression. I just smelled the potential he had. And he's just getting better. With Belgium's national team, he has been very important this campain, with his goals and good crossing, despite the gigantic competition for a starting place. He has played with more efficiancy then Eden Hazard, that's great. I expect him to bring the national team to the WC.

He also said : "In an average team, he always performed. Without him, they probably would have relegated. I want to compliment him with adapting so fast, the Bundesliga is a different level compared to the Belgian League. You won't see that often that a rented player has such an impact on a team. I'm not the only person at Chelsea with this opinion. This season KDB got nothing else than positive scouting reports." He also said that Mourinho evolved from a coach who thinks only about short-term-results, to a coach who also likes to work with young players. I did my best to translate.

Depends on the opposition. When playing away-games he usually plays as a winger to strengthen the central midfield with Fellaini. Our last home-game against Macedonia he played as a number 10 in a central position.
-
It was in Belgian press of 25th of April, based on stats from Bild : At that moment De Bruyne ran 356 kilometres this season, the most of all the players in Bundesliga. The second player was Gentner from Stuttgart with 355 kilometres. On the 8th of May there was another article about his game against Hoffenheim : he scored and ran the most of all the players in that game : 12,25 kilometres. It just shows how motivated he is to make it at the top-level. Whichever team gives a him a chance next year, I'm sure they won't regret it.
-
You are right about the first part. About his best position : In Genk he played mostly as a LW, but truly excelled in his last games as a CM. In Bremen he played mostly as a CM/AM together/next to Aaron Hunt in a center midfield of three players (one DM). The RW is the position he probably has played the least in the last few years. You can use him in LW/AM/RW/CM-positions. Which position will be his best position, will depend on the other players in next years team.
-
He has no problem in playing CM, as long as there is a DM next to him. The tackling-comment is based on one stat on one website, not based on actual reviews of his games. Last week another, more reliable, stat came up in German press : De Bruyne ran the most miles of all the players in the Bundesliga this season. That's pretty impressive for a player of his kind. So no, in my opinion, he won't have a problem in playing as a CM in the Premier League. In that position you could compare him to Modric at Tottenham, just give him a while to adapt to the PL, just like Modric needed some time to adapt. His speed is more than decent enough to play as a winger. He doesn't need to have the acceleration of players like Bale/Valencia, because he has so much variation in his playing style on the wing. He can cross with both feet, cut inside and shoot, skills to go past defenders,... Just watch some video's of him at Bremen, there are several video's of him launching or finishing a counter-attack in which he uses his speed to run from defenders.
-
Pretty normal I'd say. He's too good to be on the bench and he has to play to keep his place in the national team for the WC.
-
Thorgan played mostly as a left attacking midfielder this season. He reminds me of De Bruyne in that role. Haven't seen him playing as a real CM, sometimes as a number 10 replacing Franck Berrier.
-
After having sold Courtois and De Bruyne to Chelsea, you guys should return the favour and sell this guy to Genk.
-
He's grown a lot his season. At the moment he's at the heart of EVERY Bremen-attack. In a better team he would even b more decisive. He could be very valuable for Chelsea next season, if they give him a chance. He could play in Hazards, Oscars, Matas or even Lampards position. Such a a player can be so valuable during a season. With his direct style of play and very good switching from defense to attack he would be perfect for Mourinhos style of play. He's very technical, excellent shooting/crossing and decent speed. A type of striker like Falcao or Cavani would love his crossing. It's a shame I have the feeling that everything will be decided during his per-season, while he's a bit of a slow starter who needs a few games to get to his best level.

Rumours of a bid by Dortmund : 17 million euro for De Bruyne. http://www.rp-online.de/sport/fussball/bundesliga/dortmund-bietet-fuer-de-bruyne-mit-1.3330025

His jumping is pretty good for sure, especially for such a tall guy :
-
Knee against knee, painfull but nothing serious.
-
Courtois won't risk losing the challenge to Cech down to experience and losing his place in the national team for WC14.
-
He gets even more praise in Belgian press today : - Toby Alderweireld (rightback for Ajax) describes him as "abnormally good for his age". - Paul van Himst (one Belgian's finest football-players ever, aged 70) compares him to Lev Yashin, legendary goalkeeper, due to his charisma and stature in goal. Hopefully he keeps both feet on the ground.
-
What I really like about him is that he'll always try to play forward and his range of passing when doing so.
-
² All he meant to say was "I'm a professional football-player at Werder Bremen, so my weekends are pretty busy".
