This will be the real test. ManUre are in better form and are strong where we are weak. K2 will struggle big time with Antony, who likes to shoot from distance which is Kepa's kryptonite. Also I doubt they will let us have the middle like teams usually do. We need to use or chances this time. We know the ref is not gonna do us any favours, so we can not have wasting 10 chances like we usually do vs them. Also what is worrying is that we should have conceded 3-4 goals by xG in each of the last few games but thanks to Kepa have not. You can never be sure that this streak keeps on bc honestly, our defence has been quite shaky esp the left side with K2 and Cucurella/Chilly has been quite suspect. After this game we will know where we stand. Our recent results felt a bit flukey with how weak Milan was, the red and pen, the two Mings assists, Giroud, Toney and all Villa players missing guilt edged chances. ManUre on the other hand have won the last game without even needing their usual refereeing assistance and were defensively quite resilient. I hate to say it but for the first time in over half a decade I feel they are on our level again. Desperately have to beat them or at least not lose otherwise the conclusion would probably be that the team got a motivation boost due to new manager honeymoon phase and now has just returned to being toothless and frustrating like most of 2022.

We were terrible but we should have had at least one pen, Brentford were basically playing volley ball plus that last man foul on Broja we had enough chances to win this tho but wee wasteful and often afraid to make the direct vertical pass when winning possession up high it remains the case that without Reece (and chilly) we look as toothless as we did with that personell under TT

Kepa vs raya is such a weird duel of hipster goalkeepers Kepa has been great but he has this knack of making his saves look unbelievable when they are often just poorly placed shots ffs broja cross that and it’s a goal

He is what he is. Apart from his skill on the ball and his immense athletic capabilities he sadly has two massive weaknesses which prevent him from becoming top class. Namely, He is just slow at making decisions and adjusting to new situations on the field which impacts the overall tempo of his game plus he is an average passer. Both of which quite evident yesterday and massive flaws for a midfielder . Yet he is useful as a squad player which is totally fine as long as he stays healthy. For me he is a must start vs Brentford. As they are a combative team with lots of high balls into the area, RLC will be of massive help here. Last season one of his best games was vs at Brentford and I can see him behind decisive as part of a mid 4 again here.

Good point. Villa indeed won a ton of headers in the box, which was no wonder when we had Cucurella as CB. The question is whether it is worth denting Kepa's confidence now he is on that run. We might try to field an aerially strong team overall. K2 definitely needs to play, so does RLC, Kai, Chilly and maybe finally give Broja a start, let Auba rest for ManUre.

RJ was a huge part of us being able to move the ball more directly tho. Teams double up on him and give us more space in the middle. I still have not seen any attacking player improve under GP.Hence, I think we will need to switch formation in the absence of RJ to have more attacking interplay which in turn could leave Thiago less protected.

That’s the thing. The point was getting a manager who confirms with the owners idea of collaboration potter does not have a magic formula TT has not. As long as we play 3 atb and only 2 or 3 dedicated atttackers we will always rely on our wingbacks for playmaking duties . And only the best like RJ can provide this. I am fine with that. Most of our attackers are quite average anyway and no manager in the world will get them to score 20g a season each. The mistake was not getting a proper backup.

what a terrible decision by the ref. No way is that a pen cos it is clearly off the ball and violent conduct not a tactical foul but it definitely is a red card for Gabriel. But leeds would have missed that pen anyway cos they are useless and having gabriel on the pitch actually weakens arsenal so glad he is available.

no. i want teams like milwall, qpr, leeds and other historic rivals as many divisions below us as possible. They always up their game against us, play with unnecessary guile, cause us to get more injuries and cards which can hurt us over the course of the season.
