I actually think it was tactically spot on. Everyone expected us to come out all guns blazing and run out of steam early but we sat deep and waited for the counter attack opps. Individualy it was a very poor performance. the passing from all midfielders was terrible. werner would have needed just a coupleof great passes straight through the middle and he would have socred a hatful. we had brightons number just couldnt finish them off. RJ and Alonso made individual mistakes to allow brighton chances but they have never been very good defenders. AC and Zouma were very collected and solid tho, sussed out tons of dangerous attacks.

I guess lampard bought that myth about Werner being better in a front 2. Or maybe he just wanted to accomodate him a bit too ease his transition into english football. Anyway RLC badly failed to playing bodyguard for Werner, so Timo was basically on his own anyway and did just fine. I could see the 4-2-4 working with Giroud but I can easily see Werner leading the line on is own too. Not sure if Havertz can drop into the position RLC played today and not get crushed tho, so no idea if it is so smart to play him high up front in the middle. we will see

Maybe we can sign Martinez more easily from Villa next year or so. I guess what went against him is that Martinez has so few games at top level and only really impressed recently. Even though he looked tremendous it was just 10 games. He never did anything special in all his loan spells before.

Don't worry Timo is rarely injured for more than a few days. Has only missed 13 matches in his whole career. Most of them due to common cold. I have to say i have a bit of sympathy for RLC. he was basically used as a battering ram to create space for werners runs. He failed miserably but it is not really his game. anyway, given how poor a player he is he should try his best at anything that is asked of him and he did not really look bothered today. I like how we scored from a corner first time fo rages. AC-Zouma looked rock solid. only the dunk header was a chance they conceded. Reece and esp alonso were particlalry poor. It can not be that an average player like lamptey cuts through our left side such that we need to double up on him. Alonso is just so so terrible, we really should sign yet another LB and get rid of emerson AND Alonso

Pretty sure he was played on the right on purpose today to keep him a bit out of the meat-grinding middle. RLC was tasked with taking down the long balls. He did not do particularly well but Havertz would have been crushed by Dunk. Quiet debut. Give him time. The pressure clearly took to him but he will be fine once he settles.

The sort of game we have come to expect from him. No major cock ups but again useless once a shot is cleanly struck at goal. The shot was right in the corner but it was not very hard and from a narrow angle. A top goalie would push it away easily. He got his eye hand coordination wrong and the ball dipped under his arms even though his dive was sufficient. he just failed to direct his hands towards the ball. Like he needs glasses. At least he did not try his weird swinging technique

Isn’t Wonder Woman like strong or can fly lol? (Idk never seen or read that stuff) The injury took his pace, his touch and confidence. Now all he has left is his big strong body. maybe he can be molded into a defensive midfielder. But surely done on the top level

That is bc we are mostly playing the same team as last season while missing our best player. RLC as no 10 not being able to hold onto the ball or playing simple passes Fucked up all our attacks alonso and Kepa are just being Alonso and Kepa. Crap players with a normal performance for their standards. For any other player that were poor performances but for them it sexagtky what you expect

Game comfortably won in the end by luck and without breaking a sweat. Could have been a worse start

RLC was so bad, Barkley of all people instantly transforms the match goal was obviously 100% down to Kepa. A defense should always allow shots from there and expect the goalie to catch them

The weird pre season and stuff is taking its toll, all look rusty. Playing a bit 424 like really puts Havertz too wide and RLC is completely out of his depth down the middle. It sadly looks like he has been absolutely finished as a top player by that useless friendly in the states. And if Lamps really trusts that dud over an actual winger like CHO we need to sign another winger simple as

Still have to see RLC to be any useful from the start since his injury. Big ask of him today. Can’t see this game being easy. With Pulisic I am sure we would have had to ok much for them. Small teams can’t handle 4 danger players to deal with but Kai and Timo only might not be enough. tLc and Mount really have to put in a shift. But we should be able to control midfield with that plethora of mids. Expect Brighton to sit back and try to counter. No idea if they are any good at it
