  2. Chelsea's director of communications, Simon Greenberg, has resigned just two weeks after chief executive Peter Kenyon announced he was leaving the club. Greenberg has been at Stamford Bridge since 2004 and has worked alongside Kenyon to help promote the club's image worldwide. Itis understood Chelsea wanted the 40-year-old to stay but Greenbergconfirmed the decision to Kenyon's replacement, Ron Gourlay, andchairman Bruce Buck during talks this week. Hewill remain in his post until the new year and the club will begin thesearch for a successor, although they may promote from within as headof media Steve Atkins has impressed since he arrived 15 months ago. It is believed Greenberg, who used to be the sports editor of the Evening Standard, is now looking at becoming involved in London'srunning of the 2012 Olympics in some way. He is already the chairman ofLondon United, which is part of England's bid for the 2018 World Cup. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23752070-peter-kenyon-ally-simon-greenberg-quits-Chelsea.do

  6. Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has thanked fans for the way they've welcomed him back this week. He told TalkSport: “The reception I got was fantastic. I know Chelseafans always do well when players come back from injuries and givingreceptions but I wasn’t expecting that and what they’ve done for me,all the letters I’ve received, I can’t thank them enough. It reallydoes help you when you are injured and you’re out you know that there’speople there waiting for you to come back and wanting to watch you playfootball. “You look at that everyone’s played well. I don’t think there’sbeen anyone who’s come into the side and not done their job so I justwant to keep that going. I know I bring something slightly different toanyone else in the squad. The first thing for me is getting back to mylevel of play and that just comes from hard work. I’ll be silly to sitback and think ‘I’ve played one game now and now I’m back’. "Today I’m having a bit of a rest and then tomorrow trainingand just trying to get the best out of training because I need to getback to the best I can as quickly as I can.” tribalfootball.com

  8. Chelsea's fitness concerns surrounding Didier Drogba have subsided with the news that the striker only suffered cramp during Sunday's game against Tottenham Hotspur. GettyImages Didier Drogba lies in pain after sustaining an injury against Spurs. Drogbawas forced off in the second half at Stamford Bridge when he pulled upfollowing a shot and was stretchered off in evident pain. With atally of five goals in six Premier League games so far this season, thesight of Drogba being substituted was a worrying one for Chelsea fansdespite the 3-0 win extending their 100% record to six games. But examinations of Drogba's problematic calf have calmed fears regarding a nasty injury for the Ivory Coast international. "He had the most horrendous bout of cramp," assistant manager Ray Wilkins told the club's official website. Meanwhile, Chelsea have also confirmed that Joe Cole and Yuri Zhirkov will both be handed their first starts of the season in Wednesday night's Carling Cup tie against QPR. Colehas not played since suffering knee ligament damage in January whilesummer signing Zhirkov has so far been denied a debut due to a kneecomplaint. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=678571&cc=5739
