  1. Spurs look like they're going through now anyway.
  2. Stupid Spurs game going into extra time means that Chelsea game is not on TV.
  3. I never said that Drake was great. Again, I said the exact opposite. I don't like his music at all. and I said so and if you had read what I wrote, you would have seen that. What I opposed and still oppose was the ridiculous notion that being fake is somehow the worst sin, that growing up as a middle class kid is worse than being a violent rapist. And no, what got Tupac killed was a feud with other violent gangsters not any political stand (and what stand would that be, that life for inner city blacks was tough? That the LAPD was racist? Well, this was very widely known for decades before Tupac was ever heard of). He led a life of extreme violence surrounded by guns and shootings and he died the way he lived.
  4. William Gallas is one of the worst defenders in the Premier League now. In their game against us, his incompetence helped us on three goals. He really has no business playing at this level. I'm hoping Spurs have to go 120 minutes to tire them out and then lose...If anything, this game might get Bale player of the year as it proves how valuable he is.
  5. I don't remember who won the Europa League beyond last year. In 10 years, the competition won't exist. Our not making the top-4 would have drastic and perhaps long-term consequences for Chelsea.
  6. I don't generally idolize people because people are flawed and not worth idolizing, but I idolize things they do. Some people do great things like the ones I mentioned or people that are less well known. I think Jonas Salk was fantastic (created polio vaccine and refused to patent it so that everyone could get access). I also really admire Hitchock because I love his movies but he was perv and I don't admire him as a person. Napoleon was a tyrant and a war criminal bought he also did a lot of good (like bringing in the Napoleonic code to Europe which was a massive step up from what was before). I don't care if someone loves Tupac's music more than anything else in the world. I think Polanski is a very interesting director and he was a rapist, you just need to separate the art (or deeds) from the person. Tupac made great music. Fine. Tupac was an influential musician, fine. Tupac was an inspiration to you musically? Fine. But Tupac as someone you look up to as human being? Sorry, I don't respect that in the least.
  7. The wrong lineup. Top-4 must be the priority and this is a normal starting XI which means that we're going to be playing a worse team against West Ham. Yes, we should be able to beat West Ham at home with a lesser side but we should also be able to do the same with Bucharest.
  8. I guess the top-4 finish is less important than the Europa League to Rafa. This is a regular starting XI 3 days before we face West Ham.
  9. Nonsense. He was a convicted rapist. Rape is one of the hardest crimes to prosecute. The arrest rate for rape is about 25%. The conviction rate is much lower. If it's just he said/she said, you will not get a conviction It's possible that there is some vast conspiracy. You're pretending like it's 50/50, maybe he raped her, maybe he didn't. It isn't. He was convicted in a court of law of rape and was never exonerated. Therefore, he is a rapist. People want to believe the best of people they like, but the evidence just isn't on his side. Even if he weren't a rapist (which he was), he was violent criminal. He shot people, he attacked people. He was arrested multiple times for real violence. The people I idolize are not musicians or celebs or actors. They are people who have effected change in the world and yes, they were all deeply flawed people, sometimes not even good people (but they were capable of doing something amazing and I respect that thing). Martin Luther King was a philanderer, Lincoln's views on race would be outrageous today, but I don't lie to myself about who these people actually were. I don't pretend that there is some conspiracy to misquote Lincoln.
  10. http://deadspin.com/watch-an-italian-tv-presenter-lose-his-mind-over-milan-453520575?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews Now this is someone going out of their mind when Milan misses a great chance and then Barca scores. Just incredible.
  11. I said the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you're saying I said. I wrote "You can like someones' music and still think they are a scumbag but most people can't make the distinction between the art and the man and you obviously can't. ". I don't care if someone likes his music or not or thinks he's a good musician, but to respect a person who was a scumbag is something else. The history of art if filled with racists and sexists and I can love their art and hate them. Terry has been a great footballer and his private life has no effect on that. However, had he been a convicted rapist, I don't think any of us would want him on the team no matter how good he was. Comparing cheating, something most people in their lives do at one point to rape and violent assault is absurd. Next time, read what I actually write. @Kojo, you are actually saying that Drake because he was not actually poor is worse than Tupac who was a criminal and a violent rapist. You are actually saying that being a phony is worse than rape. That is so insane it doesn't dignify a response.
  12. I understand exactly what you're saying, it's just bullshit. Tupac had a good head on his shoulders? Tupac is inspirational to you? Tupac speaks sense? He raped a woman. He shot two police officers. He was involved in multiple shootings. This is not someone who was screwed over by the system because he was caught with possession of drugs or some other minor crime that was turned into something major because he was black and poor. He lived a life of brutal violence. Forget about commercialization, this idolizing of the worst elements of society is worse. You can like someones' music and still think they are a scumbag but most people can't make the distinction between the art and the man and you obviously can't. Um...I'm from Toronto so I'm pretty sure I have a much better idea of the neighbourhoods Drake grew up in than you. He grew up first on Weston Road which is a shitty area. Then he and his single mother move to Forest Hill which has some massive houses but it also has some areas that are distinctly middle class.. I quote from an article about Drake "Our next stop is the house Drake grew up in, which turns out to be one floor of a modest duplex on a block of Forest Hills that feels suburban but hardly wealthy." (It's actually Forrest Hill, not Hills) Yeah, fuck him. He's middle class so he can't know music. Only people who grow up in dire poverty can make art. (For the record, I don't like Drake's music, I just can't stand this romance of poverty and violence bullshit.)
  13. Drake was not rich growing up and even if he were, who cares? Is it better to idolize Tupac who was a convicted rapist than someone who is not really poor? Being middle class is a worse sin than rape or murder? Do you have to come from Compton to be legit? Are only poor people allowed to express themselves? If so, once someone has one successful album, they're rich and their lives are easy if they want them to be and everything they sing about is bullshit. The idea of "the gangster" has always been nonsense, an image sold to white suburban teenagers to give them a thrill. @Manpe-IMO the commercialization of music really took off in the 80's with the music video. Image was always important to musicians, but people like Madonna made image more important than the music.
  14. It's made up and it makes no sense. Just paying the teams would cost 4.2B pounds never mind actually putting the tournament on... What's the point for Qatar? And for teams? Top players are already playing 50-60 games a year. There's no room for more playing time. A 24-team league means 46 games for every team which is an entire new season. Where is the time for that even? I don't know how anyone ever took this nonsense seriously.
  15. Ivanovic was the best crossing RB in the Premier league last season with a 30% success rate. (Zabaleta was 13%) No fullbacks hit crosses with regularity that forwards can get as their crosses are from further away and usually at difficult angles. .
  16. And here it is... http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/footballrebels/2013/03/201336105035488821.html?utm_content=automate&utm_campaign=Trial6&utm_source=NewSocialFlow&utm_term=plustweets&utm_medium=MasterAccount
  17. Too many awards, they're like boxing belts. Not sure who will win but all three players of the year will probably be between Bale, RVP, and Suarez. Young player of the year's results are different from the actual rules. They almost always vote in someone English even if they are inferior so it's hard to guess.
  18. Webb didn't punish Hazard and Webb didn't see the Ferdinand shove (it was away from the play). Nothing to do with him.
  19. Well, there are a few big problems and one of them is legal. You don't give your permission for your image to be used. Much of the time, this is fine, but there are plenty of times when you don't want people photographing/filming you surreptitiously and consent is really only implied in public places so you'd have to take off your glasses in private places. I guarantee that these glasses will be banned in most private spaces. My bigger problem is this: What the fuck is the point? Have you ever been walking along the street and seen something and thought "hey, I wonder what that is and I don't have 7 seconds to check it up on my phone"? Have you ever thought "I'd like to take a picture of that but can't afford to wait the 3 seconds to take my phone out and snap a photo?" If it comes out, people will buy it because people want whatever is new and hip, but it's completely unnecessary. We have so many real issues in the world that technology could really help-we can't get food to people who need it, we need to get more fresh water to more people, etc...but the people who need these things don't have money and the people who would spend $1,000 on a gadget do.
  20. Seriously. If you had to miss a season, this is the best one to miss in a long while.
  21. Nor should we have the burden of proof. If I say that the world is filled with invisible dragons, is it up to you to disprove that or to me to prove it? If I think that goblins and trolls and witches are real, is it up to you to disprove it or me to prove it? It's not a dispute. The god of the gaps (the idea that god exists because we can't explain this or that) is disappearing. Thousands of years ago when we couldn't understand lightning or the stars or people, believing in a deity or 1,000 made sense. Now, when you realise how insignificant people actually are in the scheme of our own world never mind the universe, when science can explain or will be able to explain everything, I just don't understand belief. I honestly don't care what people believe, just don't try to pretend they are two sides of the same coin. Science is rigorous and fact based. Religion is faith (which is believing without evidence which is the opposite of science).
  22. That's part of the beauty of these books. Because the language is florid and ancient, they can be construed any way someone wants. (Word X really means Y). Even when the language is obvious, it gets twisted and turned. I saw this program where feminists were challenging a priest, a rabbi, and an imam about passages in the texts. The passages were all blatantly sexist-things like "women should be owned by men" and "men are better than women" but all the holy men were saying "oh no, you don't understand, to own something is a burden so it's really great for women!!"
  23. Damn...I went and got a bunch quotes but then my page refreshed and they disappeared. Anyway, there are a few quotes in the Quran that show at least, questionable grasp on astronomy. Anyway, my point is simply that science in holy books in general is awful which it is. If these books were indeed written by some omniscient being, there would not only be no scientific errors, these books would be filled with scientific advances. Instead, the science in these texts is never better than the science at the time of their writing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_foreknowledge_in_sacred_texts#
