  1. Rudiger was carried by Fazio & Manolas last season no different from how Terry, Luiz & Azpi have done their best in carrying Cahill. In order, Roma's 'best' defenders were: Fazio Emerson Florenzi Manolas Rudiger/Juan Jesus To consider players great, just because they played their part, is lunacy. By that logic, Kalou was elite, since he played in the Champions League Final & contributed in games beforehand.
  2. @Rekin - 'They had the second best defense in Serie A last season. Unless you are saying that Serie A's offensive players are garbage?' We've had 'the best defence in the league' a few times these past few years, and it included Gary Cahill each time.
  3. They don't exactly have the highest standards.
  4. I'm sure he really did support Chelsea growing up, in the same way I supported the LA Lakers between ages 10 & 12, because everyone around me had a basketball team, and the Lakers were only 1 of maybe 4 team names I could remember. Plus they won lots, so, lots of highs. This isn't a guy who grew up aged 4 in a Chelsea top his dad gave him, got a tattoo of our lion on his calf aged 14 after a drunken bender, with Drogba posters on his wall every year since. That's the image that was curated though
  5. And with that interview, just like that, ESPN eclipse Sky Sports, finally. Both are utterly unreliable, but to see what was reliable (Sky) turn into a house of lies, this feels like karma creeping up.
  6. Well, we dodged 1 bullet, only Neo would dodge 2.
  7. Play Moses as our striker all season and he'll get 20ish goals. Play Morata as our striker all season and he'll get 20ish goals. Why pay 70m+ for the latter? Does he have that much to his game other than goals?
  8. Dingus, do you have any opinions of your own, or are you just a 'Conte knows best' guy? If so, don't put down others opinions.
  9. Christensen's had more great games vs. Bayern Munich / Dortmund than Rudiger's had vs. any teams on earth.
  10. Removing Sandro from that list makes it utterly depressing. None of these players have ever been established starters for proven elite clubs, and it's not like Morata/Rudiger/Danilo are young rising talent.
  11. Moronic post. (Have you not seen Darren Bent & Benteke?) Anyone of sharp mind will be amused by this measure of success. Goals = good, no lol. It's like saying 'tomatoes make a good pasta sauce'. No, that's simplistic; not if herbs & seasoning are totally lacking. A striker playing for any top team should be scoring 25 goals every season as a minimum, and if that's all he can do, with no other good traits, your taste is terrible.
  12. Yours are so much more insightful.
  13. Adding that now we sidestep the spiel about Chelsea being Lukaku's 'home' & him being the 'next Drogba' (seeing this would've made me...do things, crazy things.)* A win. A big win. There'll still be doubters when he scores a few goals against top teams, who'll completely ignore the previous 70 minutes of poor play (like we've been putting up with re: Costa) - but it's dying. Rapidly. This facade. Truth has won, and only the idiot manager has gone for him. *How dare Stamford Bridge be 'home' to a player who's never done anything for the club, when others have had massive parts in giving us our very best days since Roman came, & are barely even remembered.
  14. Genuinely delighted. Call it 'arrogance', but when a player is clearly so damn below-par, and when so many 'new' football supporters don't understand how the game's been changed by marketing, it's the biggest relief to not see your club fall for the new-age (yet). It's been like having my ears and eyes punched by Mike Tyson daily whenever reading or hearing radical pro-Lukaku (&Morata, gotta be honest) statements; all the intense energy...for this guy. It feels like a win for traditionalists.
  15. The good old days. I can't wait to see the likes of Inter vs Man United again, AC Milan vs. Arsenal, Liverpool vs. Zulte Waregem
  16. Us to miss out on Bakayoko, because Arsenal seem to want Lemar for a higher price (& Baka was more 'important' to Monaco last season, apparently..), for us to then swoop in on Fabinho finally. It would be perfect. Fabinho, Belotti & Alex Sandro (or not) - those are elite signings for years to come. That's how it's done.
  17. The idea that Conte's 'mad' and 'fuming' over not getting Lukaku is surely, surely, surely a lie. First, he isn't so arrogant to have the approach of 'the board must secure all my potential targets without fail - that is what they are for - they will succeed every time.' Second, you don't carry a bit of 'rage' from your football job around you in 'real' life - so where was this rage displayed for people to pick up on it? Is he slamming doors around the stadium & his car? Is he calling people names and refusing the cake they try to share? Did he send his nephew a shit in a box for his birthday? I doubt it. The only place any lack of satisfaction would be displayed, would be in the boardroom, where nobody would let it 'leak' that Conte's 'furious.' I'm 99% sure this is another very easy to make, very hard to prove wrong story. Every season there's complete fallacies spun by the media just to make our fanbase uncomfortable.
  18. It's not their fault if you can't appreciate Caballero.
  19. I had a dream a few hours ago that he was the new kid in school. And he heard from someone i'd been hating on his 'signing', so as i peacefully explained it was due to Christensen, he started crying due to guilt. I explained it's Chelsea's fault, not his, & that i take back the heat i was putting on him (because his eyes were so sad :(), which was only put on him in the first place because i'm an Ultra apparently. We went to dinner that night and he told me his favourite colour. It's blue.
  20. It's a very well coordinated Twitter stunt. Most of the tweets pumping up the topic are new ones with barely any followers etc. I had chills for a moment.
  21. Agreed. I envy the clubs who have young elite talent like Musonda, Abraham, Boga, when we're stuck with the likes of RLC.
  22. Hopefully he was just going to lunch
  23. Have you ever had 3 different pestos in your cupboard, all from expensive companies, all with loads of 5 star reviews online... only to try them each, day after another, to discover that one of them...is absolutely bonkers - in a bad way? Where is the nuance? Why are your reviews so good? Is it because you appeal to a different (larger) demographic, where the others are made with the purest, traditional recipes, for purists? Lukaku is the lacking pesto. A lot of people think he tastes good, but, those people haven't tasted the superior ones often enough yet. Once they do, they'll only order well-bodied pesto, not the most popular one in Tesco. Another good comparison would be popular, effective, every day use olive oil from Tesco, what's wrong with it? Nothing to the majority of people.... but go to a real olive oil country, and show them this... and they'll be baffled. Where is the nuance and depth to the flavour? Why is it priced so high when it's just a blend of sub-par olives? Lukaku is a lacking Italian meal. Belotti at least has some chilli.
  24. Just seen that since moving to the Premier League, he's actually scored more consistently than ever in his career. Heh.
