I agree with the notion. Just not with *only* doing that: buying and playing super young players waiting for them to reach a certain level. That does not work. It may work for smaller clubs, but not big clubs with certain obligations to compete (CL and sponsorships). Don't think Salah and KDB were the same case; Mourinho is notoriously for not giving minutes to young players. BTW, I'm the one who wrote a controversial take on Salah back in 2014 (saw some WC potential in him).

once again, to make it perfectly clear: Chelsea players should always be supported by the fans-I'm not disputing that. And if a player is not good enough *for whatever reason* whether they are supported by the fans or not won't make any difference. Regarding an overly young squad, a cheer from a fan won't help a younger player correct their positioning, or help them under pressure. An experienced player playing alongside these young players will help them tactically, mentally (projecting composure, leadership) in actual game situations.

yeah suppose we will have to agree to disagree on this one. For me it's that simple: if a player isn't ready he should not be starting for any top club. His age shouldn't matter.... you can have 1-2 players getting minutes to acquire that experience, but that should be a slow process, unless the player is truly ready. The real risk here, by utilizing too many young players at once, is to lose them; like negatively affect their progression because of the lack of support from more experience/composed players who would help them with game situations they've never faced before. Once again, I have never seen a super young team succeed at this level. I'm trying to go back and remember a single case of relative success, but I just can't.

Sure, but handling that pressure is one of the main, and obvious, challenges of playing for a big club. That's why it's so hard to get there and then deliver; why most big clubs have few super young players starting for them. The pressure is well-paid for in both transfer fee and wages. That's the way it is: big club equates big pressure.

His disaster debut may be be nerves and lack of composure as a super young player first time at an elite club. He looked way too relaxed, as in trying too hard to appear relaxed, which was exactly the opposite of what we needed today against WHU. We needed a Kante type fighting and winning the ball in all areas. He was actually much worse than Gallagher today, who wasn't that good either.

Are you serious?! Makes little to no difference what we write on this forum. If what we write here directly affects them, then we are truly fucked. 😕 What matters is how they react to game situations, which is typically where young players struggle for their lack of composure.

The issue isn't making a wild bet, which many clubs would be willing to do. The issue is making SEVERAL expensive wild bets on many young and unproven players at the same time, and then tossing them in your starting XI all at once. That has never worked.

😅 from sofascore yup that's one of the main dangers of buying super young players: the sample is too small -- often non-existant at the highest stage. It's hard to asses whether they have the right mentality. There is also a question about their physique. It's hard to even know whether they are injury-prone or not, because their career is just starting.

I think he's a good manager; certainly an improvement from Potter and Lamps, but just said that I did not think his reaction to their red card was a good one. The team played way too slow and relaxed for me. Dunno if that's lack of aggression, composure, so not everything is down to the manager. I did like Sterling today... I know folks like to criticize his performance, but I honestly don't see it. He's been a thread skipping past players and creating changes, not to mention the PK. Jackson was disappointing today. Needs to do better inside the box.

Better manager who kept playing with 3 at the back even after the opposition lost a man. Not only that but kept Disasi who was having a terrible game. Then at some point playing against 10-men we had 3 at the back, and 3 defense-minded mids. Not great by Poch today... no.

Agree that Gallagher is a decent player, but if a club like Chelsea is relying on him as a starter, then that sets a limit, and it's not a high one. I personally think our attack is shit. Like really really shit... not top10 material. I do think they can prove me wrong and be top6 material, but top4 is unattainable, again, IMO.

This is a common thing: Lukaku would be similar. Wages way above what anyone would want to pay him, so when someone takes over paying that there is no transfer fee (it's amortized in the over the top wages).

Newcastle have a top4 midfield, but they got nothing in attack. They will not compete for anything until they spend big in the final third.

Foden is amazing... what a player. The silver lining for Halland is that he's really not that skillful: pretty average on the ball. His off-the-ball movement, however, is the best I've seen... same for his finishing.

Same with Liverpool against us: manager ended united with the the subs. Yeah, maybe the starters were tired, same as pool, but boy, subs looked unplayable. Bissouma: good game... more power than skill. Need to see more.

Anthony is having prob the best game I've seen from him--bit unlucky to have hit the post in that curly looks like a penalty to me.

Garnacho was completely lost in the first game too... worst player on the pitch then.

United was dominating the game and missing sitter after sitter until Tottenham hit the post. Good game for neutrals... just need a goal. but Yeah Tottenham looks poor. Lots of runners, without any real quality on the ball. Maddison looks completely out of his depth.
