  1. Are we stuck with 3 at the back forever? I understand why we'd play Adreas, Thiago, and Rudiger once, but why would it be the best formation today? Esp with Gusto who seems more of a RB than WRB.
  2. Luton is the worst team I've seen in a while. I'm talking different leagues and weaker leagues at that. Pretty incredible they are playing the PL tbh. Can't imagine what the teams who are firing in all cylinders will do to them.
  3. I disagree. He does this nice turns and runs, but at a big club he needs to do better in tight spaces. Other players should do these instead of him. Don't like what I see from him today so far. We are playing a shitty team at home. He needs to show composure near the opposition box. He's dropping back way too much as well.
  4. Jackson is having a pretty poor game so far: miscontrolled the ball twice already. Need better from him. Luton are terrible tho. πŸ˜… Need to score a few goals today.
  5. aside from a small number of ppl who don't like him, not sticking by Sterling would make no sense this season; he's the best attacking player we've got--def best winger. We depend on him to do well this season.
  6. sweetly struck, but disappointing finish by Sterling.
  7. on bbc comment section, "Will: I don't understand how Todd Boehly can spend the money he has and Chelsea still have such an uninspiring line up. Pochettino is a magician but I think Luton will be the ones surprising us tonight."
  8. oh wow Mudryk can't get a start against Luton Town @ the bridge.... Wait is he injured? not listed as sub Yes, he's listed as injured.
  9. Good for him. Wonder if he can be recalled?
  10. Lukaku's the kinda guy who makes root for Inflation and the Saudis.
  11. nah the team is weaker in every area. I personally think the defense is absolutely shit... The burly one looks slow and pedestrian on the ball; the other is a very old player who's main virtue of playing from the back is long gone; the 3rd is a kid who might shine and shit his pants perhaps in the same match. Strength in depth is really nonexistent. LW Nkunku picks up an injury--not the first time for him--we end up with a 19yo who manages to twist his knee all by himself (likely just lacking physique). Now we end up with Mudryk and hoping he becomes at least "employable" for a few games. The goalie is a completely unknown.... not because we are mean to him, but he simply has not really played enough matches at this level. Sorry, but that's just not a good squad for this season and for any top club. Yeah maybe in a season or two, with a tweak here and there, we may become competitive again, but this ain't it. Now imagine if Sterling and/or Jackson are out? Yes, I'm sure we've got an 18yo ready to twist his knee face the physicality of the PL. Madueke can't even protect the football well enough much less string two passes together. Yeah we are going to win a few matches, esp against the nonexistent, but we will be found time and time again, and that's going to be our season.
  12. hehe yup, don't think any football club in the world has been anywhere near his (childhood or not) dreams. πŸ’°πŸ˜†
  13. The combination of a roster filled with (very) young players and a "role model" like Lukaku would be a scary thing indeed. πŸ˜“
  14. Plane did not look like it's been shot down at all, nope... πŸ˜…
  15. That's essentially all strikers on earth bar one. Honestly too soon. Striker is one of the most dependent positions in a team, and he will def have to adapt to the PL, the club, and esp his teammates.
  16. Fair enough. I think I should have used "try to" which is different from actually accomplishing it. Totally understand how that can be a challenge for a team which has played in a different ways for years. Either way I don't even like to use him as an example of a "type" which I implied with the Mbappe quip.
  17. I disagree with that. I think City very much plays to Haaland strengths always sending the ball into space for his timely runs; he's not that great at link up play. He's just better making those runs and hoping someone finds him via throughball--they eventually do because of the abundant quality in the squad... haaland is extremely pacey for his build too, which makes him an easy target for his teammates. I call dedicated striker a player who participates little in the build up of attack; a classic Giroud type, which is more or less what haaland is (just much higher quality obviously). Jesus is the typical false 9. The whole point I made is that Jackson looks more like Jesus than Giroud. He's going to drop back and make runs which will help the team, and the attack. If Nkunku (can also play false 9) were healthy, perhaps they cold even switch roles during matches to confuse the opposition, but suppose that's out for a while.
  18. Not sure we are disagreeing that much tho. For me the difference between a dedicated striker which demands that the team play to his strengths, play a certain way; then you have the Jesus type, or Jackson type, which contribute to the overall play; they can contribute even when not scoring goals. Jesus for ex, played as many times in the wing as in the striker position. Getting Halland is like Getting Mbappe and saying we've signed a winger. πŸ˜‰
  19. At least Kudus is 23 and not 19! Aiming low these days. πŸ˜†
  20. Of course not, when a CB can make forward runs, push his team forward, and start attacks like Rudiger did over and over again in that CL run, that would never help the attack. πŸ™„ When David Luiz used to hit a long ball assisting our attackers, nope he's a defender only! πŸ™„ When Timo Werner "ran like a dog" closing down runners that did not help our defense one bit because he's an "attacker." πŸ™„ City must be a mystery to folks here: who's in attack? why is Stones moving up, or why is Ake behind Grelish now? πŸ˜• And I thought "total football" was an old and known thing. My bad.
  21. You must be confusing the footballs. 🀣 There is one where the defense and the offense are different teams.
  22. Yeah nothing like Luiz who was super skillful esp for a CB. I think Cuccu more like Azpi when employed in CB (3cb). He did well in some matches playing like that last season. Look I'm trying here... πŸ˜‰ he's been pretty poor so far.
  23. The "they" there is so very selective tho. πŸ˜†
  24. Once again, I'm not interested in going back to the discussion about the players who have left -- I disagree 100% with every simple thing you wrote above, as I've disagreed before. Nothing will change here. My issue was with calling actual winners -- of an amazing Champions League run beating the best teams at that -- "the biggest bunch of losers in Chelsea history."
  25. Yeah nitpick last season, which is, by your own words a transition season w/ ownership change. Mudryk and Madueke played last season too, but I don't hear you talking about them. Reece James, Chilwell, played a bunch of games too. So did Thiago Silva, so they are all losers by your batshit crazy definition, of course. πŸ™‚ Enzo played every game once we signed him and the record wasn't great was it? Was it his fault then? One poor season does not erase a good season, much less a prior win. Winning takes a team. Some players do mundane tasks in a team and contribute for a win. Only one team wins each competition. It's freaking hard to win. How is rewriting history different from lying?
