Mudryk is bizarre — need to improve attacking options for this or the next manager. Simply not good enough.
-
We simply don’t know if it’s the lack of instructions or players not following them. Personally, I suspect the latter given the age and inexperience of certain players like madueke—there is zero excuse to not follow a runner next to you. jackson is playing well.
-
For their goal Madueke switches off and does not follow the overlap. Then puts his hand on waist once he sees the goal conceded. amateur level defending tbh.

It's not "his" police is it? I mean he can certainly apply pressure, which I presume is what you want him to do, or perhaps show some support, but ultimately it's city's and state's call. Was reading about their (protestor's) demands today: good luck with that. Like it or not, the reality here is that any, and I mean any, elected president would support Israel the same way Biden is doing (perhaps even more unapologetically so). The argument, which I happen to not find crazy, is that if you don't want to US to support Israel it would cease to exist. So, these universities are in a bind: they can either take a stance against Israel and appear (which is enough) antisemite, or stand against the protestors, which seems unpopular esp in the liberal media. My money is on that nothing will happen. Kinda "occupy wall street redux." Regarding Trump vs Biden, I think it goes way deeper than politics or whether you agree with specific policies or not. The whole pardoning for favors alone is already a huge red flag to me. How that shit isn't illegal is beyond me. Then again he asked for votes to be "found" in a recorded phone call, so. 🤷♂️

Would also be very nice if we had ANY attacking player capable of heading the football in the roster right now. 😅
-
Yeah agreed, not right now. Another season like this one though and his agent will get real busy.
-
Yup and I reckon the missing variable in their equation is "time." What do we do while these players develop? Watch grass grow? 😃 Players blossom at different times in their careers -- there is no guarantee these youngster will get anywhere near their peaks in 2-3 years from now. Take Solanke as an example. He's playing well now at 26!

There is no AI "thing." Ai may bring paradigm changes to a number of different areas. My skepticism is regarding the self-awareness bit, which I think is just a "fun" clickbait doomsday scenario based more on sci-fi ideas than science. There is no evidence whatsoever that self-awareness may be just around the corner; I've been hearing that that's the case for decades. It is very likely the probabilistic ML engines in use today will indeed disrupt a lot of industries, services, life in general. It's also likely that they are completely incapable of achieving self-awareness and we are still a breakthrough away from seeing that. We don't even grok what it would take to get self-awareness in artificial systems. Of course it can, and perhaps should be discussed, but my take remains that this specific issue is a potential concern, not an urgent concern like other aspects around AI and automation. There are good points made in the video linked above, and a lot of speculation too.

It's actually good news except the Copa America bit. Useless competition. BTW, Ugo looks like a shocking signing so far.

And I thought the whole point was to win silverware... silly me. Suppose Chelsea FC is now an expensive "Football Manager in Real Life" experiment. It's going to look really stupid when the successful experiments (actual WC players) demand to leave at some point--which is what players always do. Real Madrid will thank us for all our efforts and gladly take these players off our hands.
-
Chelsea is a big club by any measure you use, esp valuation. Big clubs don't develop a lot of players in the senior squad; they buy them and win silverware. Even today our spending is at the top amongst all clubs, so I have a hard time with the argument of developing a full squad of expensive nobodies for 2-3 years is the way to go. We are the only big club doing this, which is really odd to say the least. Quoting @lucio "every donkey was young once." so we don't really know which of these players will become good, great, passable, or really not good enough and we will only find out in time. I totally get placing a few bets, esp in attack/striker where acquiring established talent is so hard, but doing so for the entire team at a club like Chelsea is really unheard of. I'm going to emphasize that I don't even think Jackson is the problem, but the lack of options around him, and for him. Had Kai stayed for example, we'd have Jackson and him to rotate, or play alongside depending on what you'd need for specific situations. Poor planning left us with only jackson, which considering the amount of money spent is pretty bizarre. I will also emphasize that the point here *is* to win silverware and not develop players that will become great and move to real madrid in 3 years time.

Watched parts of the game and the Everton team was all fired up. They played supper aggressive and physical while Liverpool did not match that. Of course they got Calvert back, who can be a handful in the air; they were also missing old man Coleman, which means they started the game with 11 players this time. Klopp gets away with a lot tbh. I can totally see why Brazil dropped Alisson and handed the #1 to Ederson.
-
Striker's goal for Everton. Still pretty much gifted no-one jumped and Alisson was ball-watching.
-
Yes, and it applies to a number of our players atm. Just say he's a winger and show the videos of his good runs. Works every time. 😅 That's probably how we ended up with him and Mudryk.
-
Don't think Mudryk's inability to play football has much to do with Poch. Palmer seems unaffected by Poch's poor game management, for ex. Mudryk is one of the worst players I've seen playing for Chelsea FC. I like hyperboles to make a point, but this isn't one. Tabloids reporting another yes-man from Brighton... make it stop please.
-
Can we just skip it? "not going to show up for this one, next!" Actually, we could just inform the FA we are satisfied with the number of games played already and are done for the season.
-
yeah good point. Unless we are able to move some players, which will be hard. The ones with market value are also the ones we'd want to keep. I still don't think this squad is coachable as in it can't possible compete in the PL. Even if the perma-injured players come back and stay healthy, we'd still be a few signings short from being able to compete esp in attack--Martinelli and Jesus were sitting on the bench yesterday.
-
pretty good summary. It's really difficult to establish causality in football, because of the number of variables involved and the fact that everything is changing all the time (form, mood, confidence, the players, the opposition and their strategies). Agreed, some of these players who left played extremely well under Tuchel, but the last memory is the one that sticks. Heh, I did not think Kai was particularly impressive (aside from his aerial game) today until our players gave up at which point it was just too easy for him and others. I do think Poch is a bit too much of a yes-man and likely not going to be strong enough to demand the changes the squad needs for next season, so yeah he probably needs to go unless it is to bring a third yes-man in, which wouldn't surprise me one bit. Maybe next season Lavia, Carney, and Nkunku remain healthy and fit for the entire season, which will help the next manager (and make him look like a genius), or maybe they won't. Or, maybe they are also not all that great -- after all we hardly saw them on the pitch this season.
-
Had a clear cut chance from inside the box and, as usual, sent it wide. Fuck Poch! 🙂
-
Yes, I know your opinion is factual and mine is just an opinion. 🙄
-
There is no chance of that happening because the club already noticed that some of these players are WAY below the quality required at this level. It's not going to be the same squad. Wanna bet? I don't give a shit about Poch. Don't think he's a great manager either, but it's naive to think it's all down to him. I can't think of any more clear cut chances than the ones Jackson has been missing, for example. 🤷♂️
-
easy now... 😅
-
Nonsense. There is no excuse for these players to play like shit... none. Replace the manager and all is solved. Wish football was that easy. We should prob start recruiting in the lower leagues and spend more on the manager given that that's all that matters.
-
We should have kept him considering we ended up with no-one as a backup. But now that we have a transfer window, nope I think we can do a lot better. We need to sort the manager situ first tho, who's idea is to be implemented for ex.

Arteta did not improve Arsenal team. That team that he got back then was uncoachable just like ours IMO. What he did was slowly let go of the players which did not fit his style and got new ones who did. He even tried to get rid of Partey this season, but Partey did not want to go apparently. All their slow mids, pedestrians on the ball, were replaced by mobile and far more skillful mids including Rice, who has really blossomed into an allrounder. I really don't see any other route for us. We need someone with a good idea and able to execute it.
