Welback is 23 so he can and should improve. By how much? That's the waging part if that deal. Remy is or should be at his peak right now. Decent player but there is no fucking way in hell he is competition for costa.
-
Good game by mikel. Was sharp and specially played quick which was what the game demanded.
-
We've got ourselves a top striker... It's been a while.
-
Yeah saw your second reply but I'm on pad...Like others I am worried that both of our options are not remotely close to costa in terms of quality. One is powerful and still good in the air, and the other is pacy but lightweight. We will be very reliant on costa... Perhaps over-reliant
-
Quality post!So you think remy is better than giroud? Ok...
-
We obviously disagree on Remy and that's fine. I truly hope you are right on this one. All other top clubs have better sub for striker than we do. Daniel/Balotelli, giroud/Sanchez, dzeko/Aguero. Rvp/rooney. They are all better IMO. I don't think costa is injury prone btw but he can still pickup a long term injury and ruin our chances. Just can't imagine the likes of remy and old-drogba doing anything special in the cl semis for example. The other teams have better options in the position.
-
I'm missing something here... Are we cheap now?! Are we looking for bargains only? Fact is city has dzeko and Aguero regardless of their valuation. Or do u think they care how much they costed... Are you all so sure remy is an upgrade over Torres? Because I'm not. We got exactly what we paid for with Ba so why do people suddenly think the world missed on this 27-fantastic player? He's ok just ok.
-
Some call realism, but hey whatever works for you.
-
Nah for me if costa picks up a long term injury we are fucked. Dzeko is twice the player than both remy and 36-drogba.
-
Is there any difference between not having to pay $175 and getting $175? Just saying it's not that simple. Even FFP rules take wages into account not merely acquisitions and sales.
-
If Torres has indeed waved the payout, then he has to win a few points with Chelsea fans. Certainly a nice professional attitude if true. No practice! no gym until the medical!
-
You both can quote me on this too: he won't! That's exactly my point - he's too reliant on pace for a team that pressures like Chelsea. If that's the player we wanted, we should've kept Lukaku.
-
Not a fan of Remy. Just a cheaper Fernando Torres - just as inadequate.
-
right, but Conf Cup are friendlies. Honestlly we've overemphasized what Brazil did in that "competition." Against, as we know now, very poor opposition.Employing an immobile striker, such as Fred, also worked there. In a far more dynamic and demanding competition, WC, Fred vanished; taking the spot of a real player and making Brazil weaker as a result.

This! Jose is right and Scolari was wrong - about how to utilize Oscar as well as everything else
-
Thought the "getting on my tits" showed annoyance, or perhaps at least surprise, with the "from heaven to hell" stance shift you presented. Or should I read it differently?
-
Oh yeah... forgot we cannot talk about/criticise a player after a game around here. it was just a game... people are NOT making a big deal out of it, but he wasn't great and so we can't say he was. He was amazing in the first match and average in the second. What I expect from him: consistently something in between.
-
There is no nice in football! The best play and Courtois is the better goalkeeper. The fact Cech is still a top gk is really irrelevant - only one plays and Jose picked the right one to start. As we all like chech and are grateful to him, we wish him all the best here or elsewhere. Still I just can't see him to ever start ahead of Courtois.
-
Reckon not mutually exclusive.Wickham seems pretty skillful at times with good first touch and control spec chest - interesting player.
-
Torres out and Wickham in - problem solved
-
The grass is always greener... Hazard is younger and already the better player. People here do have to take age and development into account esp when talking about deals and transfer market. Di Maria can break a leg - in the artistic sense
-
Yeah disagree to disagree as I still think he was pedestrian. For me Oscar was better than him in every aspect, especially in the key moments in the second half which actually won us the match. And yet, the 22 Oscar is constantly criticized by not providing enough key passes, goals, and assists. Should I then be satisfied with sideway passes from our 27yo maestro? I will praise him when he truly has a great game like the last one. We did NOT play well today. A better team could've punished us for it (they were so poor though) and these type of performances is the reason we did not win the league last season. It's nice to praise the newly promoted outfit, but they look like going right back to where they came from - no quality in the final third whatsoever.
-
Good post. Though Willian should be playing at his best right now while oscar is a work in progress according to Jose himself. It's also down to what your definition of #10 is. Btw oscar wears #8 and fits his game just fine. My personal feeling is that oscar is, and will always be, twice the player. Seen too many Willians, the dribbling machines from Brazil, but it usually takes that tactical nous to get the great player, and I reckon that's what chelsea and Jose are trying with oscar. Don't get me wrong, William is a good player and should've come on for Andre who was our worst player IMO.
-
I'm not saying anything other than that i expect more from him. He had a poor game. Decent but poor by his standards. He doesn't have to win us every match that's why we have other stars, but I'm not going to praise him for this performance.
-
Exactly! and scoring that first was key! It opened the game up.
