Matic because he is the best in the world in his position.

Think he's expensive now...

In what circumstances would you choose to miss a Chelsea game?
robsblubot replied to LAB's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Recently moved to the west coast and rarely watch live games due to the time diff. Sucks but I need to be awake at work. They replay the games on tv but by then I already know the score. Loved that about the east coast: waking up to great EPL matches -
Oh no!!! I'm not merely saying that Jose Mourinho knows best as they be obvious... What I am saying is that the club has a number of professionals who know better than any of us; not only because they they are paid professionals, but especially because they have access to information. Sorry aboy dp iPad...
-
Coutinho was not in the starting XI a month ago. He also started against us in the league and got subbed right away. So, don't say season, but recent games or perhaps 2015. One of the main complaints of people around here is that oscar is inconsistent, but coutinho is far more inconsistent and only recently was able to break into the starting XI of freaking Liverpool And still can't defend to save his life.
-
Plus remember it's a small squad
-
Hey if you want to see mikel pattern of development in Oscar I cannot stop you. Now if you are trying to convince me of it, then sorry, I say your evidence (that they are the same) is very very thin and you are missing tons of info only the coaches there have.
-
That's one of the problems right there: unless you are there in training what you see isn't really that much - but you already know that. Really good games and go missing - isn't that typical of youngsters?Have you perhaps considered that all that defensive work he is told to do by his manager may be preventing him from showing more in attack? Players have only so much energy. We don't really know what he is instructed to do, but my point (and others) is that he seems to be doing what he's been asked to do... Hence the starts and the new deal.
-
Wow reckon you could make a lot better use of those superpowers... So you claim to see something that all coaches at Chelsea cannot, including Jose? Call me skeptical, but if you really do, you ought to be working in the business instead of chatting on tc.
-
Fine I just don't know what it has to do with Oscar. Mikel gas not improved the way the club expected him to. That ship has sailed for mikel but it hasn't for Oscar. We are just going in circles.
-
First I am not the one who claim to know more than the professionals working at the club.Second, mikel does not start often, and reckon it's one of his low seasons in terms of minutes. Oscar does start a lot though. If mikel record of wins increases then I say keep him on the team - my opinion would have been wrong then. So all I have as evidence is fans opinions and personal preferences for players who play in different leagues or for guys like continuo who a month ago was a reserve.
-
Well that's one theory - that he's lucky to be here. Howerver the evidence - his many starting xi appearances as well the new deal - suggest otherwise. Is it not more logical to just assume there something Oscar does that pleases both the club and the manager? You all may disagree with Jose, but that's not going to change much. Concerning kdb, obviously he wasn't doing much in training. Remember some comments by Jose alluring to that.
-
Football is not played in vacuum. Oscar has been part of a winning side which makes him a winner too. A different type of player might have indeed provided more in some areas with detriment in others and judging this isn't as easy as it may sound. That's the difference between the professionals and fans like us.
-
You do realize what you wrote is just an opinion right? No matter how angry you may sound, chelsea and Jose don't really give a crap about your constant rants about Oscar.I dislike some players, like others, but at the end of the day it's about winning and whatever Jose has been doing seems to be working. No we are not challenging Europe and Oscar as of now is not good enough for that, but he may one day be. Others are not good enough for that either such your older beloved Cahill. Chelsea and Jose are obviously betting on that Oscar will improve like it or not.
-
Only he doesn't start does he? And we are top of the league too. Are you really a fan of the club or of your own agenda. You just strike me as an angry dude.
-
And yet he starts and starts and starts and starts and gets a new deal...It must be very painful for you.
-
Yes, the grass is always greener... If the coach had started this guy... Had we had this fellow... thats always true until they play and aren't that different from the ones they replace
-
Easily verifiable: if he keeps on starting games the manager is happy with what he's doing which is obviously what has been instructed. Same with the new deal - money is the clearest evidence we can use in football. Some ppl ignore it but I pay attention to it. Both pay and valuation. The fact he got a new deal recently means he's here for the long haul.

Lack of English players in the squad
robsblubot replied to bababoom's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Agree to disagree on mikel. For me there is nothing he does better than Barry and 100 others. Keyword here is 'better' because if the international inst significantly better than the local product then why is he there? Some of these youngsters will become good players perhaps great like sterling, but to have them you gotta buy them young. And we havent been doing that - doesn't seem important to the club. -
Couldn't disagree more. CUadrado did well indeed, but Colombia played shitty teams in the WC group stage and were knocked out by a mediocre Brazil - game was dominated by brazil unlike chiles. Andre shone in the freaking final with the assist. Diminishing that accomplishment makes no sense to me.

Lack of English players in the squad
robsblubot replied to bababoom's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Lots of young english talent out there, but inflated prices and the unknown makes then a difficult bet. Kane is looking like the real deal. Jones is young player; stone even younger. Only to name players who could contribute, because if we talk about squad then a number of English players could do better than what mikel does. Barry to name one. -
Fair enough, though you are missing the big team factor. Shakhtar is the big team over there so spaces are hard to come buy whereas fiorentina is hardly the top dog in Italy, so pacey player like cuadrado will do wonders in counters.. Just watch salah play a lot better for them. Good luck finding any space behind the cbs when playing stoke at the bridge.
-
So was Andre and so wasn't hazard... I'm seeing this deal as a pretty expensive bet. Unlike getting millions for the extremely limited Bertrand - good deal.
-
That was precisely my point - cuadrado was a pacey player in a slow league.
-
Cahill was only a starter last season and we did not do so good parking the bus in a number of games.Defense was weak and demanded a lot of protection to work - as soon as the team tired a bit we resumed conceding. Go back to the results once again and you will see it. Pathetic results even after luiz lost his starting position, then some solidity, and then conceding a lot at the end of the season costing us the title. The notion that cahill was always a sure starter and is going through a tough spell is delusional. Reckon you are really referring to Terry instead. But then again one must be delusional to think cahill is a great player or a sure starter. Same folks who think the kid who just got a new 5 year deal is getting the boot.
