You're making a lot of assumptions here. Conte isn't the only one responsible for making acquisitions, his title is 1st team coach not manager. While I do think his input is taken into account, the club take decisions together. He may look at it the same way you do, "hell it ain't my money, I can use him in the same capacity as Oscar..." I think we need to set our sights higher, James is available but for me he's only a decent purchase if we're not getting mugged off.

He's not the kind of player you break the bank to get. You pay 70m for a player in form who you envision taking this team to the next level... James is a luxury buy not a essential buy.

You can't look at it as Oscar + 12M though because anyone you talk to will tell you Oscar's transfer kitty is a windfall of epic proportions. To waste that money and then some on Rodriguez turns that windfall into a wash... Is James tactically diverse enough to play in a number of different roles or is he just gonna replace Pedro or Willian as our ride sided player? I want someone who will add to what is already being built, not another Cuadrado.

Must sign. He doesn't add goals but he will help us take control of the midfield battle, he is an exquisite passer of the ball and tenacious enough to win the ball back. I refuse to believe we're actually in for him because its too perfect. We need elite level passers to break down packed defenses, Verratti and Fab would provide us with skeleton keys to unlock any defense. Flipping Oscar into Verratti is something I'd never in my wildest imagination every thought was possible... Is it????

That result would have hurt Pulis deeply, its the kind of result that could lead to a series of bad performances. They worked so hard and were undone in one instance where they normally deal with it. The reason I feel this will hurt is because they executed a game plan they worked on and drove home all week, then they show up and its undone. It was a lot of work drilling a team for nothing in the end. Such an ugly display of football, hard to watch, next to nothing going forward... set up to just frustrate the hell out of us and in the end they get mugged off by COSTA. When you play a back 6 you have to expect a point, they didn't and it will hurt.
