  1. Drogba: "I could hear David Luiz telling Bastian Schweinsteiger: 'Just watch, we're going to score now.' "
  2. Just how I feel I can't help it. We look closer to 2015 and we have Kante.
  3. The same crap from last season.... Hmmm. Crap from last season - No preseason, Hazard, Costa, Jose's pressers, Thibault's injury, Matic's awful form. This season - Two a day workouts, Hazard looks the best player in the prem again, Costa is scoring goals again, Jose has taken his antagonizing pressers to Manchester, Thibault is healthy, Matic has Kante. Correct me if I'm wrong but we have just won 4 straight games right? You will come to see that a good screen(Kante) and a positive game plan, not one where we are camped out inside the 18 and defending deep with no passion to win the ball back, will go a long way to addressing the problems we had in defense. I see why you're scared, you don't trust the manager, the board, the players because last season was so bad but I would advise you to look at good and not so heavily on the bad. We're better than we showed last year and in my opinion we will only compliment the title season in 2015 with the players we got this year. I'm not shaking in my boots. We have our Chelsea back and we're better than the title team if you ask me.
  4. I only mentioned your handle because I find it to be so funny. "Ask Azpinator what he thinks of David Luiz!"
  5. Go back and read the comment. Has nothing to do with you.... The guy I quoted said he's tired of justifying moves by saying 'Conte wants him' These are the same people who slag off the board for signing players without any regard for what the manager wants.
  6. how else should it be justified? Better yet who else should have a say on this? Azpinator? Fernando?
  7. My one wish for this forum is that everyone displays their age.
  8. LOL... Conte wants him or he wouldn't be coming.
  9. I don't think there will be any defenders available that will make these two less threatening.
  10. Why stop there? Mata will need a home soon!
  11. I was blocked by that guy ages ago, probably because I called his bluff and he looked like a clown... What's he saying now?
  12. lol... Ya I realized I said that and changed its early over here. Still Milan nonetheless. There is no rule of thumb when it come to football and even less when you're talking about a squad that just finished 10th domestically. And while I get your sentiment about not wanting to pay 25m for a bench player of a midtable team, didn't Brozovic make 35 appearances for Inter last year as a 22yr old on a loan deal with the option to buy? Wasn't 85% of those appearances starts? I don't think the argument is that simple as I don't paint by numbers. There are hundreds of examples where a player doesn't work out for one team(and that's not what I'm saying in his case since from what I've read so far has more to do with contract stalls and FFP than it does his footballing suitability) and ends up being gold of another. And aren't you now exposing yourself a bit now? Medel? He's a defensive mid, Brozovic is more box to box
  13. My reason for defending him is I like squads. I'm not a fan of teams that hoard all the world talent to sell shirts. I like squads that work hard and understand their role in the team. To me, Brozovic suits the style we're trying to incorporate here. More than Cuadrado and possibly even Pedro. He's a wide midfielder who can be deployed in multiple roles on ride side of the pitch.
  14. Debate what though? You are calling him a useless footballer based on the fact that he can't play or better yet because Milan don't have a use for him... Lol. Remember the other Milan that had no use for Pirlo? And what sort of debate do you expect to have when your only contribution is, What sort of debate entry is that? You ever heard of the saying one mans junk is another mans treasure? Conte clearly knows the player and if we're in for him it has more to do with his input than anything else. And of course he has value! He was an integral player for a Croatian team that were playing some of the best football at the Euros. He was a mainstay in that side... As for Brozovic not being good enough for Milan, what makes you think its Milan that doesn't want him? It could very well be he is tired of playing for a squad that aren't progressing and aren't meeting his wage demands.
  15. Failing to get the players on time? Correct me if I'm wrong but the window is still open for a couple days, right? We have won 4 straight on the trot, right? Nothing to bicker and complain about until we see who comes in, for what price and what impact they have on the squad. You have no idea what is stopping impending deals from happening. The very notion that throwing money at it will solve all our problems in the transfer market is not a tunnel I want to go down anyways. It seems to me, if the bids we've heard are true, the Board threw PLENTY of money at players, clubs and agents and still couldn't reach a deal for Koulibaly or Nainggolan... Sometimes teams just don't want to sell and may have their own ambitions. Are you saying Conte doesn't have a hand in the players we are targeting? Really? I have no way of proving it but a good indication that he is submitting these targets is the league we've been mostly linked to. 80-90% of the players we've been linked to heavily are from Serie A where Conte has spent the better part of half a decade(more even) scouring for players, and developing scouting dossiers. And whether or not Brozovic is our primary target is not so important to me. We may not have had the ability to sign who we originally had on the wishlist, still, that doesn't mean our secondary targets are useless. Conte has clearly stated that he doesn't want just any player, he wants the right one for now and the future.
  16. Yes, we wanted Modric and failed to sign him, we knew he was fantastic.... I don't see the point in mentioning Modric's tenure at Madrid since we clearly wanted him desperately. And while you say we should've gone for Modric no matter what the price, what you fail to understand is WE DID. Modric even submitted a transfer request, you know why we didn't get him? Because Levy did not want to sell such an impactful player to a direct rival and who could blame him? You still are missing the point. Paying the damn money for a top CM doesn't guarantee anything. Paying the money for someone who fits into our idea of football is what we need to be doing and by all accounts that's what Conte is after. Let the manager work with who he wants to work with and stop crying for "world class" footballers. Many deemed world class have failed when they go into a team that plays a style that they can't adjust to. You don't need world class players to win, all you need are players willing to go to war and who are willing fighters for the badge!
  17. Still remember when everyone hated the Miereles signing after we were in for Modric and failed. Miereles became a lynchpin player for us and we won the champions league with his help... He's still beloved by fans even today.
  18. Its this logic that infuriates me, this idea that Chelsea should only sign world class players even if the role is for the bench... What the hell are you talking about? So because Milan, who play a completely different style to the one we employ here, doesn't have a need for Brozovic now all of a sudden that means we shouldn't have any use for him as a squad player? Lol. Conte is about building squads under a philosophy, not trying to assemble an allstar team full of prima donnas. You assemble a squad by getting players who you envision doing a job for you in certain conditions. I have no doubt Conte knows what Brozovic's strengths and weaknesses are and how he can help us this season. I think what's happened to most of you here is you've fallen in love with FM and FIFA and also the idea of buying every world star regardless of whether or not we have a need for them. Take a look back to just this past summer when Conte went against everyone's "better judgment" and took 31 yr old Giaccherini with him to the Euros and inserted him into the starting XI. The point I'm making is Conte has a better understanding of how he wants to play football than you do or anyone else. What I would advise you and the rest who seem so hell bent on criticizing his choices to do is wait till the process plays out first before you say something silly and end up with egg on your face. Conte knows football and has a philosophy that he is confident in employing here. Let the manager manage and save the ridicule till its been implemented and failed.
  19. Meaning the player's agent is working behind the scenes.
  20. "reliable" meaning he's a chelsea supporter but he's not really a known journalist with sources.
  21. Did you happen to watch him during the Euros? He was fantastic for Croatia, first time I ever took notice of him.
  22. A bit of a head scratcher of a statement here... [emoji848]
  23. he's also 27 and predominantly a left sided midfielder... And I don't really think he's better for our system but tell me what you think Silva would add that we don't already have?
