Falcao would normally be an absolute fantastic signing. But Chelsea needs to look at other options too: Jovetic, Cavani, maybe Benzema. But all of this, I assume, depends whether Torres stays of course. But that hasn't anything to do with Ba. He will stay another year for the depth of the squad and so Lukaku can stay on loan for another season. Maybe also loan KDB out to WBA in that regard.

Not sure if we will qualify though. We definitely should but already threw away points against Croatia. Tough opponent anyhow of course. All next games will be crucial and so will Wilmots his choices be. I would be prefer a more experienced coach at the helm. Not sure about Wilmots' tactical acumen. But do have to credit him for putting Witsel in a defensive position while his approach with players seems to be well received. On Lukaku and the national side: I would have liked to see him play together with Benteke during the last friendly. If only for 20 minutes. Both are doing great in the PL but are different type of players. So why not? It must be terrifying for a defense to come up against Lukaku, Benteke and also Hazard or Fellaini. I rather expect Belgium to be at full strength at the EC 2016. Qualification should be easy with the increased number of participants and players as Kompany, Vermaelen, Vertonghen, Fellaini and Dembele will be seasoned and experienced players whereas not only two years ago they were still young. Hopefully by then we have some new talent to integrate too, such as Denis Praet (Anderlecht), Zakaria Bakali, Perreira (ManU), Dickov Origi (Lille), Maxime Lestienne (Club Bruges), Mathias Bossaerts (Man City) and Charly Musonda hopefully of course. I may be forgetting some. Also hoping for the return to his previous level of Athony Vandenborre, as there is real lack of quality at the right back position. Sorry for the off topic! Good Romelu is getting a game to rest and fantastic he's the leading teenager goal scorer. He's improving which is the only thing we needed to see this season and as at Anderlecht he has exceeded expectations in a manner nobody expected.
-
Pity Real has to play again a Classico before the game against ManU. That can cost them. Wouldn't surprise me if Mourinho decides to rest some players or to instruct his players not to go too deep into their energy supplies.
-
Magic. Could watch him play for hours, even without scoring goals. His touch is class, his movement so intelligent and when he strides forward, you know something's coming up.
-
Thing is, I believe Lukaku will always be part of successful teams. So Chelsea better gives him a chance. There is just something about him, besides his agility, pace, strong finishing ... he exerts so much positivism and dynamism both off and on the pitch. Very important player to make important for the whole group. Top lad in that sense indeed.
-
It can't have been a mistake to send him on a loan. Maybe he could have made the same evolution while at Chelsea but it would just have been more difficult. He's proving now that he has probably got what it takes to play at Chelsea which is something long not everybody was sure about. Should he stay another year? Probably he should because how is performing now is simply amazing. Can only get better in a second year whereas next year at Chelsea he may again not be first choice.
-
Huh, better? Although from his early days at Genk I've also been thinking of Zidane when I saw De Bruyne play.

Great moment for Hazard. A defining moment almost and it has luckily not been the only one this season. I was a bit worried at the start of him not playing like he did at Lille. Obviously the PL is physically quite a bit tougher while his game is really built upon taking on players. But where initially he would rather turn and choose for the pass (and his passing has been good) he has improved with this goal, although against weaker opposition, a great example. He lives of these moments and they are what will make him more confident which is what he needs. I am curious to see how he will evolve in a central role. Somehow I believe he really wants that position, even though which his talents he really should be on the wing I believe, with the freedom to cut inside. Also, with Mata at Chelsea, he won't find it easy to get a central role. He also seems happy which is as important. Must have been something to come to the PL without speaking much English and in a dressing room that just won the CL. Then again, he is 22 and two times father. Mature guy for his age. Focused, driven and happy, what else can you wish for.

Zizou De Bruyne

I think Werder does lack a bit of quality to be higher in the ranking.
-
It will pass. Sorry if it was already discussed here but I read in a Belgian paper that the dressing room was very harsh for Hazard after the game. Anybody knows this to be true? I can imagine it to be possible in a scenario where other Chelsea were still believing Hazard really kicked the boy badly. The picture of Demba Ba checking on the boy also sends a message I do not like. Whatever happened right after the game, players like Terry and Lampard will be of utmost importance to help Hazard deal with it. I mean there's been some bad press with him in Belgium after the hilarious hamburger incident but that cannot be compared with the pile of shit that was thrown at him now. The club and players must really be there for him now.

Belgium's goalkeeper coach (also the goalkeeper coach of FC Bruges) was 'fired' or replaced last week. Because of disagreement with first team coach Wilmots apparently. One of things that transpired was that he wanted to keep Mignolet as first keeper, "technically better" in his judgment, whereas Wilmots chose to opt for Courtois (who did extremely well by the way). I think Courtois strongest points are his reflexes and concentration. He's probably good at long balls too mostly because of his length. One thing I was not impressed with were his game relances (kicking out fast or throwing). Another that was said before is that he's a bit slow to get to the floor but I am not sure if that's still valid. Any opinion on this from people who've watched him enought at Atletico? When I look at Courtois, I really see a copy of Van der Sar. And that's a good thing. Also, for that very reason, strange that Ferguson did not notice him and paid such a crazy sum for De Gea. Very curious to see how his career will evolve further!
-
My goodness this is hilarious. Especially the images of the boy claiming to be injured on the pitch. I put it almost on the same level as Zidane headbutting Materazzi. Great stuff as well, except that it was really the stuff of legend, it being the very last act of his whole footballing career. Great players have to do crazy stuff from time to time, it's like that. Still, I really believe that this was unintentional. Nothing more frustrating and irritating than somebody keeping the ball from you and time waisting while you want to keep on playing. He just wanted to kick it from under his body, that's all there is to it.
-
Only a friendly, but still: great goal and assist in his typical style. Hope he continues to evolve the way he is doing. I also believe that at least he would start regularly when at Chelsea next season. But he even could surprise us more.
-
The guy shows he can focus. He shouldn't be thinking of Chelsea or care about their results, just about himself getting good games and goals and West Brom good results. He's focused, extremely mature for his age, always appreciated by his teammates and in the end also a very modest guy.
-
Yep, at the age of 19 he is already very very difficult to defend against.
-
There was really nobody who would have predicted Drogba to become the player he became when he was 19.

I won't argue with the fact that Benitez is a better manager than Di Matteo. Although I kind of want to believe that RDM had the necessary skills to be at Chelsea for many years to come. I also want to believe that is something you want to see as a fan: a coach that is supported by the board. Will that ever by the case at Chelsea? This dismissal is so arbitrary, driving home the message in a very painful way that the decisions at Chelsea are being taken by one person in an irrational manner, without much long term thinking or respect for fans. If Abramovich did not really want to give DM the job, why not already give it to Benitez in the summer. I mean, there seems to be a degree of irrationality within his already irrational decision making. Maybe that makes him insane? After the next game these things may be forgotten of course. The focus will be on the positive things that Benitez will bring to the job ... but then again, he signed a contract until the end of year, after which there will be another round of trying to bring Guardiola to the club. If those rumours are true, I find it a rather pathetic situation for one person to put himself and his club in.

Ehm, how else would you describe this dismissal then? 6 months after lifting the CL and FA trophies. While still having the players behind him and doing well in managing the squad. It is not only disgusting, but just very confusing and alienating to see such a thing happen. Especially because RDM was coach, former player, and you could just feel he understood the DNA of the club.

I think Benitez is a very good coach. But must repeat once more, just for the sake of it, that Di Matteo's dismissal was utterly unfair.

Somebody just gotta stand up against a crazy man like Abramovich. Sacking your manager just before another important game, while there are no signs of any problems in the squad, etc, it defies all logic. As a CEO or no matter what position in the club you hold, one can only protest against such a ludicrous decision.
-
Don't think he's the man for this role. Think Chelsea was a bit too stretched and when not having a lot of ball possession, there's no point in playing without a striker. Yesterday I believe Torres was actually necessary, however bad his form may be.
-
Did any of the players have a problem with RDM? Maybe players should go on strike for once, as a protest against the management. Never seen that before, but why not.
-
Maybe yesterday he could have made other choices, but then again, Chelsea had enough chances to take the lead in the game. You just have to take those chances and here I guess it was the inexperience of Oscar and Hazard that is partly responsible. Thought Di Matteo was excellent in resting players when needed, having the team behind him, communicating well. What a stupid decision to make your manager go. I mean, who would even want to consider taking on this job.
-
Poor against Wigan? Thought he was very good actually. He has a great presence up front, link up play was good (which is sometimes his weak point) and was involved in the two goals.
