I agree but Poch was an average appointment. The rules of continuity that applied to Arteta, Klopp etc don't apply to him. Happy to have made the switch and eager to see what this group of players (with few returning injured players) can do under a serious tactical coach.
We were also super competitive against the top quality teams last season. 3rd in the 'Big 6' table behind Arsenal and City.
It is the smaller teams where this squad needed to stay disciplined, be professional and put teams away - that's where we are struggling. And we will continue to struggle unless we make a few signings.
I am worried about roster formation and have been on here advocating for players in their prime.
But it is offset by having players like Reece back and the knowledge that most of the youngsters have got one season under their belt.
Been less than a week since the window opened. Last year, we went from considering Olise, Cherki and Kudus to signing Palmer. Still a long way to go.
Except for their GK decision, which I hope they revisit, I think its been a cautiously good start.
I think so because Villa were in need of sales for PSR reasons. Their swap deal for Douglas Luiz for Weston Mckienne + Illing-Junior has stalled. They haven't looked close to any other sale. Can't see how they'll spend on Maatsen without a sale.
Bertrand retires. One of the heroes from Munich
Only player still active from that game is David Luiz playing back in Brazil. Romeu was among the subs and he's at Barca now
Only natural to wait and see your options. There was a report that said CIty are happy to go into next season with the same squad if there are no outgoings. If that's true, we are in with a good chance.
It is not yet confirmed United under INEOS will offer sky high wages. On even wage offers, we are still in this deal. His brother plays for Chelsea too
I was thinking this too. Good time to play City first up. We have just Mudryk, Cucu, Caicedo, Enzo who are playing a serious part in continentals
+ its good that the next few fixtures after City are easier.
Fair. There have been top players who’ve been chucked straight in - Fabregas, Bellingham, Pedri etc but since both Estevao and Paez are coming over to Europe for the first time it’s only fair they’re integrated over a couple of years
Even Osimhen is in that situation. Valued too highly now after that new contract and release clause. Clubs have stopped spending like they were doing in 2022-23.
