Hope we don't fuck around with a ball playing keeper and just go get him after the Euros. He's just turned 29 but I think he can continue at the top level for a while and is ready to make the jump to a high level PL keeper.
I am just glad they touched the midfield since the rumours were mainly about a CB and ST. He could complement Enzo and Caicedo in the middle and is an upgrade on Connor. No complaints.
Not every signing needs to be based on potential. I think Clearlake have done well so far after a rocky start but there are some spots in the squad which could really use a senior player who can come in and play at a high level straight away. Calafiori at 42m is not an expensive deal either unlike Enzo and Caicedo.
I'm all for adding a few players in their prime to round out the squad we have. Can't afford another season where we stagnate, are inconsistent because we are playing young players all over the pitch.
Clearlake outmanoeuvred. Good move for Arsenal if they can close the deal. Upgraded Kiwior/Zinchenko at LB for a decent price.
Lack of transfer developments from us this week coinciding with Neil Bath/Fraser leaving, complete restructuring of the youth setup going on.
Not too worried we missed on Olise and Calafiori. They're not once-in-a-generation kind of players. Plenty of players we can still sign and complete the team.
The real story is why they walked.
Especially when we are on the verge of closing the deals for some of the top 50 teenagers on the planet - Paez, Estevao, Anselmino,
I agree. Hell of a risk letting Neil Bath/ Fraser walk. We will lose a lot of the knowledge of the young players coming through around London.
I'm reading Joe Shields and Sam Jewell are taking their roles. The new U21 coach is from Portugal, brought in to play possession tactics.
Fabrizio is saying only two clubs in talks for Calafiori - Arsenal and Chelsea in that order as of now. Long-term proposal made by Arsenal. Chelsea are still there.
Have to add - Di Marzio has been wrong recently. He said talks are progressing well over Carney loan to AC Milan with an option to buy. This story was then shot down.
