Mikel and Matic as a duo have been awful but I would argue that sometimes you need that setup in order to gain control of the match from midfield. And given Fabregas' defensive deficiencies, I'm not sure him with Mikel or Matic would have fared any better in the pivot, especially given how intense Spurs press opposing teams.

To be honest, I'm not sure if he knows the meaning of link-up play. Very rarely you see him combine with others to create a chance and usually, he tries to dribble past 3-4 players and fails miserably at it. Thank god he didn't screw up that buildup to Hazard's goal!
