How is it not unfair? Everyone just jumped on him after one game. It was a game where Tuchel only had 1 training session with the team before it and he even explained his choices fairly for that game in that he went with experience because of the drama caused by Lampard's sacking and a number of the young players were affected by that. Once he had a bit more time after that to evaluate and for the players to calm down, he started playing Mount, James etc against in the following game. The English media were in way over their heads with Lampard and once the results started to flow in, they suddenly realized Tuchel is a good coach and better than Lampard (not that they have dared to say anything about that).

One would hope not but you say that when we still have the likes of Jorginho, Rudiger, Alonso etc after all these years despite their flaws, the criticism among other things.

Don't get me wrong. I totally agree with you about Hazard there. In the 7 years he was at the club, he had only like 2 good performances in the Champions League - Maribor and Atletico. That was it. I was just making the point about us being better playing as a team rather than relying on 1-2 individuals. That can make us easily shut down. Plus, for all the faults and frustrations with our players, I like that they seem to genuinely have a strong bond with one another and there's no real big ego among them. You can see it in their social media posts, interviews and even Tuchel talks about it a lot. That can be a strong foundation as we look to win more things in the future.

I was half joking with that quote but just like Di Matteo, think Tuchel is already viewed differently - e.g. on a higher pedestal than most - having achieved something so many other managers never did. Winning the Premier League and Champions League are pretty big in itself and if Tuchel can win the former plus the two domestic cups as a side on top of the Champions League, it would put him alongside Mourinho at least I think.

I don't see how we would get Sancho without CHO and/or Ziyech leaving. Going into the season with just Havertz and Werner as the striker options is asking a lot - one would suspect Tuchel would also use them a lot together - and none of the other attackers are capable of playing as a False 9. Think we'll get a new striker, just don't think it'll be a big name one but a striker nonetheless to fit into Tuchel's system.

As that old man once said: "When they have somebody who wins four Premier Leagues for them, I'll be No 2. For this moment, 'Judas' is No 1" 🤪

Having read this and your other post in the Tuchel thread, I'd say there's a lot of assumption going on.

Have we even been linked with Aouar? Also can't see Tuchel getting rid of Jorginho when he wanted him at PSG and seems to rate him a lot.

Ironic to hear Wenger talk about tactics when he was often found wanting tactically in the big games. -
True but still. PSG had their moments against Bayern in the final but didn't take them.

He has played only 34 minutes in the CL finals. 😅 -

That really should be the worst case scenario because Pulisic doesn't have a presence about him to be playing the False 9.

Atletico Madrid? Are you talking about 2014? We didn't even have Morata and Fabregas back then yet. Or if you're talking about 2016, that was only in the group stage. A long way from the final.

On one hand, am inclined to agree but on the other hand, if/when we let both Giroud AND Abraham go, we'll be left with only Havertz and Werner as the striker options. We obviously hope they and the others improve when it comes to converting chances next season but it's also risky given that struggle this season and with just 2 players for that position. Form, injury, suspension, rotation will play a part and both of them will likely play a lot together as well next season. I don't know about buying a big striker but we likely need at least 1 as an option, a rotation/backup.

I know but our approach also made a difference. Under Mourinho, Conte and Sarri, it was basically about relying on one player in Hazard. Not the case with this team we have now and it's for the better.

Either way, they are both similar while Werner offers something completely different to them. It's nice to have options. And if we're going for a striker, then I can't see us getting Sancho. It's one or the other, IMO.
