  1. If he's going there, you can bet that Pulisic will play at some capacity, fitness permitting. Otherwise, it's silly to just train and not play when only through playing that the team can improve and work on things.
  2. If he's not going to play for his NT side, why even bother going? Better off just staying back at Cobham and not risk contracting COVID-19 from all the silly travelling.
  3. Werner is very optimistic about our CL chances...
  4. Who do you want me to jinx then?
  5. Pulisic called up for the USMNT, who will be playing TWO matches next week...
  6. It looks that way because Kante is the seek-and-destroy type of defensive midfielder. He goes around and stop attacks from building up. It's not his natural game to just sit in and mop every thing up. Sarri tried to make Kante more of an attacking midfielder and the results have been mixed at best.
  7. So? Has the current Pogba won a Premier League? But doesn't play like one. There really is no point in having quality X, Y, Z if the player doesn't have the mentality to succeed and perform consistently week in week out. Having quality is one thing but having the right mentality is what separates the best from the average ones. That's a bit of a cheap cop-out. If the player is performing to his absolute best but the team around him is failing, then sure but that's not the case with Pogba, is it? He has been at Man United for 4 years, played under 3 different managers but has not been consistent at all for someone of his status. And it's not like he has been played out of position - like on the flanks for example - either.
  8. Having European football doesn't seem to be hindering Leicester in the league...
  9. Our xG against Burnley was 1.2 (higher than against Krasnodar, if you exclude the penalties, and definitely higher than against Sevilla and Man United) and while that may seem low, you would expect Zouma to put away that free header (Burnley somehow decided to not mark him) and Werner to put away that chance laid on a plate for him.
  10. The younger Fabregas would like to have a word with you... Think you're underestimating Fabregas' qualities, especially over the course of his career. When he was younger, he certainly was someone who could bomb forward, dribble past players, score goals, be decisive etc on top of his excellent passing range. And the thing or problem with Pogba is we can talk about him having quality X, Y, Z but what he doesn't have is the winning mentality, the determination and consistency to succeed and win (Fabregas certainly has that mindset). He's 27 years old now, should be in his peak or entering his best years but what has he done for United? Practically nothing for someone that is being lauded as (supposedly) one of the best midfielders around. When people talk that about Pogba these days, I feel like they are talking about the Pogba at Juventus as opposed to the one at Man United and he left Juventus 4 years ago.
  11. Didn't realize Mendy is the one picking the players, setting up the team...
  12. The club will try to go for Rice again in January, according to The Athletic... https://theathletic.com/2173219/?source=twitteruk Chelsea are hoping Declan Rice will ignore any efforts by West Ham to convince him to sign a new contract because they are planning to make another attempt to sign him in January, writes Simon Johnson. Rice was wanted by Chelsea in the last transfer window, but the west London club never made an official bid because they were unable to sell the players required to raise the extra funds. Chelsea spent in excess of £200 million on Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy, while Thiago Silva joined as a free agent. Due to the size of that outlay, Chelsea didn’t have the cash to buy Rice as well, especially as West Ham manager David Moyes warned it would take “Bank of England” money for any deal to happen. The Athletic understands that two permanent transfers of first-team squad players had been put in place which would have brought in enough capital to allow Chelsea to make an offer for Rice. But both fell through days before the October 5 deadline so things were put on hold. Rice has been in fine form this season and West Ham are concerned Chelsea’s interest has not gone away. The 21-year-old, who has already made 106 Premier League appearances, has a contract at the London Stadium until 2024, but West Ham want to discuss fresh terms and offer a significant pay rise to ensure he stays. It will still be difficult for Chelsea to sign Rice in the new year, especially as West Ham have made a promising start to the campaign. But they believe the England international, who would be eligible to play for them in the Champions League, should they reach the knockout phase, can be convinced to make the switch should a fee be agreed. Outgoings could once again be an important factor. As The Athletic revealed in September, coach Frank Lampard wants Rice to be the first-choice holding midfielder as well as a possible option at centre-back. N’Golo Kante started in the holding role in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Burnley but is not seen as a long-term option in that position. Lampard sees the former Leicester man as either the more adventurous central midfielder in a two or on the right of a three.
  13. Yes, we should have gotten the penalty but at the same time, if we had shown a bit more intent, we might have won it without relying on a penalty to win.
  14. Look at the average position of us and Arsenal. Arsenal tried to attack more than we did and still looked comfortable defensively. No one is saying we should have gone gung-ho against United but we should have been a bit less cautious than we did.
  15. That's not really news, is it? IIRC, pretty sure Hazard has admitted that himself somewhere.
  16. United are in 15th after 6 games and they go to Everton next weekend...
  17. It feels like a decent point but it also feels like a bad point. This United side are terrible but as you said, we gave them far too much respect. It's a missed opportunity.
  18. We have only 1 league defeat this season. Arsenal have 3. But we both have the same number of points. This season is just stupid.
  19. Compare and contrast the average positions of us and Arsenal at Old Trafford... vs
