They weren't clear cut in the sense that there were bodies in the way. But otherwise, agree with the sentiment and it's a reason why the goals scored tally isn't the same as the xG. Am sure you are aware that xG metric is basically a basic indicator of how well the team perform in attack. Yesterday's xG may not reflect what actually happened on the field but the xG in the games against Sevilla (0.4) and Man United (0.2) certainly did, given how awful we were going forward.
If including the penalties, then the xG is 2.8.
xG basically judges the quality of chances. The goal Pulisic scored and shots from Ziyech weren't exactly clear cut chances, TBF.
If I got the permutations right, 6 points from 6 against Rennes in the next 2 games will be enough to see us through to the UCL R16 (before we go to Sevilla on MD5), unless Sevilla lose both games against Krasnodar.
Looks likely given how the games have gone. Can only hope that we beat Rennes in the next two games because that will be enough to secure our progress to the R16 before we go to Sevilla.
In the other group game, Sevilla have just gone 1-0 up against Rennes and have absolutely been hammering them.
Sevilla with 15 shots, 8 shots on target and 69% possession. Rennes have just 1 shot, 1 shot on target and 31% possession.
You're missing the point. I get that players can miss a penalty here and there but the point is here the penalty taking style. Jorginho's hop-skip style is always gonna look foolish when it doesn't come off and he's suddenly missed 2 of his last 3.
I mentioned scoring penalties with power because that's what Lampard used to do. Am just trying to give a perspective that he might favor such style in the future instead of someone like Jorginho's after the recent misses.
