I expect you to say the same about Havertz too...
-
It's probably similar to Hiddink 1.0 but with Tuchel, I feel like there's a bit both. We get the new manager bounce and we also get a manager that now implements a proper system and more sustainable playing style. We still aren't perfect and we still have some flaws but Tuchel now at least gives us a chance to achieve something, rather than the freestyle, hit-and-hope football we saw under Lampard.

Of course we would want him to replicate those numbers but at the same time, people are just lazy if they judge someone on numbers. Drogba, for example, was never the most prolific of strikers and yet, we still totally cherished what he did for us via other means.

Tuchel said he hopes to have Silva back for the game against Southampton but warned that they need to be careful since it's a muscle injury.

We're probably experiencing the new manager bounce. Just you wait till things go wrong and people start complaining again! 🤣

This is something that James definitely needs to improve on. He needs to be more progressive, to vary his passes. It feels like he's become too much of a RB/RWB that's just good at crossing the ball. And ironically with this back 3, Lamptey would have been much more suitable in this system than James.

Am just saying he's more similar to Pedro than say a Giroud or Abraham, which is the feeling am getting from people. People seem to expect him to do things like those 2. And no, Werner played as a second striker/inside forward on left for Leipzig. He played alongside Yussuf Poulsen, who was/is like their target man.

Have seen that too and I don't think they are thinking straight TBH. They are so emotionally attached to Lampard that the club is Frank Lampard FC and not Chelsea FC. Unlike Benitez, Tuchel has no history of talking shit about us etc and he shouldn't be getting hate just because the club were the ones that decided to sack Lampard and sign Tuchel. Whether Tuchel will succeed long term remains to be seen but am at least feeling more positive about our chances to achieve something now than I did under Lampard.

Werner's more of an inside forward/wide forward/second striker, not a winger. He's now working the channels a lot more, than being expected to hug the touchline. People wanted Lampard to use Werner as a central striker. Maybe it can work against the right opponents but they're 2 different things.

A player doing well when played in his natural position?
-
Think people need to readjust their perception of Werner. He's more like a Pedro type player as opposed to an out-and-out #9. And please, don't go confuse that with me making excuses for his misses!

Very good interview from Werner. - Admitted he wants to score (duh!) but happy to help the team win via other means - Says he needs to keep going and the goals will come - Happy with Tuchel playing him as a left inside forward than as a winger. Plays more to his strengths - Implied that he's okay with not taking penalties. Admitted he needs to score a few from open play again before getting back on penalties - Also said he went off with a dead leg. Asked Tuchel to sub him so that the team have 11 players on the pitch and not 10

MOTM tonight. Also our top assister in the league this season (5). More assists than goals. 😅

Tuchel's son.
-
Too much suffering in that second half. Not the best performance but we take the 3 points and run, especially when Sheffield United managed to beat Man Utd at Old Trafford and ran Man City close at the Etihad recently.
-
Hope so. He needs it. We need it.
-
Giroud needs to be subbed off at HT. And I'll keep saying it, Werner has looked better once again. Looking much more confident playing in a more natural position, despite the goal drought.
-
Think the comparison is done because United were also the champions back then.

I don't get why we are wearing our away kit and not the home kit...

Misses aside, Werner was played as a winger under Lampard and not as the second striker, the role that propelled him to become one of the coveted players around last summer. He didn't become that by playing as a winger at Leipzig or even for Germany. Pulisic, Ziyech and Havertz have had their injury problems but even in the periods where they played while being injury free etc, there's not really 1 game or 1 performance that made you go WOW with them. Ziyech had maybe 1 or 2 but that's it. If you're gonna say Tuchel will get the best out of Pulisic, Ziyech etc, then the same should be applied for everyone.
-
If you're gonna say that, then the same should be applied to all the attackers, no? Because I remember what you said about Werner yesterday (or the day before) in his thread, before the old database was uploaded.
