  1. There are a few different numbers of Mata's number of assist this season that have appeared. The one I have have in my record is he has 28 assists in all competitions this season and here's the breakdown of those assists categorized by open play and set pieces (since you fellas are so desperate for it! ): Note: The list of assists will begin with matches from the Premier League, then League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League and lastly Europa League. Open Play (18); He assisted: Terry vs Fulham(A) = WON 3-0 Hazard vs West Ham(H) = WON 2-0 Hazard vs Stoke(A) = WON 4-0 Lampard vs Villa(H) = WON 8-0 Sturridge vs Spurs(A) = WON 4-2 Hazard vs Norwich(H) = WON 4-1 Ivanovic vs Norwich(H) = WON 4-1 Cole vs Stoke(H) = WON 1-0 Moses vs Leeds(A) = WON 5-1 Hazard vs Man United(A) = DREW 2-2 Ba vs Man United(H) = WON 1-0 Lampard vs Brentford(H) = WON 4-0 Ba vs Southampton(A) = WON 5-1 Ivanovic vs Southampton(A) = WON 5-1 Oscar vs Nordsjaelland(H) = WON 6-1 Moses vs Rubin Kazan(H) = WON 3-1 Torres vs Rubin Kazan(H) = WON 3-1 Torres vs Steaua Bucharest(H) = WON 3-1 (Some might have given this assist to Hazard instead for his backheel dummy but I don't think he touched the ball. Hence, Mata gets the assist for me) Set Plays(10); He assisted: Oscar vs Liverpool(A) = DREW 2-2 Lampard vs Reading(A) = DREW 2-2 Terry vs Liverpool(H) = DREW 1-1 Torres vs Arsenal(A) = WON 2-1 Cahill vs Man United(H) = WON 5-4 Cahill vs Wolves(H) = WON 6-0 Torres vs Wolves(H) = WON 6-0 Moses vs Shakhtar(H) = WON 3-2 Cahill vs Nordsjaelland(H) = WON 6-1 Terry vs Steaua Bucharest(H) = WON 3-1 *No assists from Mata in set plays in FA Cup*
  2. http://www.thefa.com/News/governance/2013/apr/luis-suarez-suspension-to-begin-260413.aspx Suarez has decided not to appeal the ban. So, 10-game it is then.
  3. Merged that thread with this since we'll be talking about the final here anyway should we get there.
  4. Playing Luiz at CB would be better actually. Gives us another option where we have a ball playing CB who can pick out incisive passes from the back, where he's harder to stop as opposed to Luiz doing that in midfield.
  5. Arsene Wenger afraid of what Chelsea can do in the summer
  6. Incidentally, Leverkusen will face Bremen in the league this Saturday. So, we get to see Schurrle against De Bruyne.
  7. Well, assuming if we get a competent manager like Mourinho then, Torres would probably be rotting on the bench for the whole season.
  8. Wonder if they will come here and park the bus again... Swansea have been on a free fall a bit ever since they won the League Cup. They've won just 1 of their six league matches since then - W1 D2 L3 - and won none of the last 5. However on the other hand, our record have not been great against them since they got promoted last season. We have won just 1 of 5 matches played in all competitions - W1 D3 L1.
  9. Once again, he goes AWOL when come up against half decent opposition. It's showing more and more that his recent improvements owe more to the fact that we were playing below average opponents than anything else.
  10. Yes but it's just rather pathetic for this to be tainted like that. If those were clear cut penalties, then fine but 2 of them are not even penalties! And besides, how many apart from us fans would actually even listen to the actual facts? Many would likely just jump to conclusion and say he's a rubbish defender when they see the record especially if this situation keeps on going.
  11. Just some (usual) stats to throw in... 1. Prior to Fulham last week, Chelsea won only 2 of last 11 away matches in all competitions - W2 D4 L5. Last 3 away games? W2 D1. 2. Chelsea have now W2 L1 against Swiss oppositions (St. Gallen & Basel) in European competitions.

  14. While Bayern are doing greatly right now, people have to remember that it is Heynckes that has built this machine of a team with his own ideas, style of play etc. When Guardiola comes in, he will implement his own ideas, style of play and all that and you can't predict how would it impact Bayern then yet even though they have great players there. It could be for the better or who knows, for the worse if the players find it hard to adapt to Guardiola's style.
  15. Thanks to some appalling refereeing decisions, the record books will be stating Azpilicueta has given away 3 penalties at Chelsea when 2 of them are not even penalties!
  16. That would have been a freaking terrible injustice had Luiz not scored the late goal. It's the 3rd Europa League game in a row where a soft penalty has been given against us and this is just getting ridiculous really. I mean how many more times are referees are gonna screw us with their appalling decisions, domestically and in Europe?! Anyway, a win is the very least we deserved and once again, we created tons of chances and great ones too but only converted one of them. We're so lacking that ruthlessness in front of goal this season and that is just frustrating. It's one of the problems why we have not won as many games this season as we should! Other than that, thought everyone did well and certainly executed the game plan to near perfection in nullifying their main threats and ensure they create as little as possible. Did expect better from Basel it has to be said but who cares. We should finish the tie off next week with this lead but now, we must beat Swansea on Sunday!
  17. Looks like the winner of the PFA awards will be announced this Sunday. The event would be taking place after all the PL games on Sunday.
  18. Erm, that indykaila is in no way a reliable source at all. Just some random BS ITK. On the subject of Benitez, seen 1 Stoke fan saying he's an achievable target and one that can replace Tony Pulis at the club.
  19. Federer spotted at St Jakob Park! He is a Basel supporter.

  21. Players who are 1 YC away from serving a suspension in EL: Basel: Aleksandar Dragovic Serey Die Fabian Frei Marco Streller All of them starting for Basel. Chelsea: Cole Ramires Bertrand Mikel Cole and Ramires starting for us while Bertrand and Mikel are on the bench.
  22. I know the players Martinez has at Wigan isn't exactly great but isn't it somewhat of a concern that Wigan are always in the relegation fight every season? There just doesn't seem to be any progression whatsoever from him in taking Wigan bit by bit to the next level. Also for all the good passing football Wigan plays, Martinez seems pretty stubborn in not changing/alter the style a bit when the going gets tough. And he always go into every game trying to implement his own style of play regardless of the opposition as well as without any regards to actually stop Wigan's opponent from playing. You might get away with that managing a top team but considering Martinez is managing Wigan, he doesn't seem adaptable enough to change things around when it's not working. And his constant positivity and optimism after every match even when Wigan have lost is rather annoying.
