Blimey, talk about overreaction. He's just dedicating the goal to Mata for goodness sake.

Nope but they are looking to challenge for the Top 4. Not saying our main aim is to challenge for the Top 4 and stay there but right now, don't think we can claim that we are title challengers just yet even if we are looking to do that. Too early to tell and we never know what might happened, just like in the past few seasons where we tailed off badly during winter and ended having to fight for Top 4. I know Mourinho is the manager now and all but don't think we should be taking risks loaning Moses to Liverpool. We also still need to make sure the competition for Top 4 is weak enough as possible so that it won't pose us any unexpected problems.

2-0, 0-0, 1-0, 1-0, 0-1. Another fun MOTD is on the cards...

Have merged the CL group stage draw thread with this one previously used to discuss the Super Cup game. So anything related to Chelsea in Europe, discuss it in here. It has already been changed. Originally to be played on Saturday, now move to Sunday as stated there.

Threatening you? What?! Apologies for misreading what you said but even when it was 11 vs 11, I still don't agree that we should be pressing them like what you're trying to say. Can understand when you said we shouldn't underestimate the attacking qualities we have but the thing is, people are looking too much into that resulting in overlooking the other areas where problems will appear if we try to attack Bayern last night. We may have the quality of attacking midfielders to attack teams and cause them problems but we don't have a really solid defence and pivot behind them to really be playing attacking game especially against the big sides. We saw how we tried to play an open attacking game last season and got totally exposed on so many occasions especially under RDM. As a team, we still don't have the balance and really the right players to be doing that. Hence for Mourinho in games like this, it's about finding the right approach, having the right balance in the team so that it gives us a chance to compete. And not to mention, just because we have attacking talents in our team, it doesn't mean we should just disregard the threat of our oppositions. Need to adapt to the circumstances at times.

Think it's fair to say that Mata won't be starting many big games under Jose especially when it's away from home. However, think we should wait till after the international break and then see how he's being utilized particularly with many games coming up before we completely just disregard him of not being a Mourinho player or that Mourinho doesn't like him. It's painful or don't feel nice to see him not playing but I supposed we have lots of options now where some players will play certain kind of games, while some won't. And don't forget that it was September last year that Mata really got going into the season.

It was just some sort of a tongue in cheek comment. Not saying he should have been sent off but with some of the rash looking challenges he made, it probably wouldn't be a surprise if the ref has sent it off. Me? Usually hypercritical on Luiz? Since when?!!
-
Oops. Not sure how I ended up typing "scoring more goals like he did earlier this season''. Meant to say in the game just now.
-
For starters, I want to see him try scoring more goals like he did in the game by making driving run from the outside and shoot when the opportunity is there. In fact, not saying Hazard's performance wasn't good tonight, but think he could also learn a thing or two from Ribery tonight in terms of attacking down the flanks.

Luiz just tweeted this..

Chelsea still looking to strengthen squad, says Ron Gourlay
Jase replied to xPetrCechx's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Contrary to what Gourlay has said, Mourinho said after the game just now that there won't be anymore new signings this summer. Take your pick.. -
Speaking of penalties and Cole, my word. Think it's fair to say we all nearly had a heart attack after he shot the penalty!
-
Gotta love that moment in extra time when he was provoking the crowd for reaction and to cheer on the lads. Legend!
-
Not exactly. If you look at since the UEFA Super Cup being changed to just one game, then yeah. But otherwise, we are not. Bayern lost the Super Cup twice in a row back in 1975 and 1976.
-
Not too sure about that. He was probably ordered to so to cover any gap or space that is vacated by Lampard and Ramires ahead of the back 4, but the amount of times he kept on stepping out from the back and making those rash looking challenges was really scaring me off. Probably even somewhat surprised he didn't get sent off!
-
Seriously? Mind posting your explanation on how we should be pressing Bayern with 10 men against 11. You make it sound so easy to do so.
-
Ramires's red card suspension will carry over to the Champions League. 1 match suspension. Will miss the opening game against Basel at the Bridge.
-
Gutted. Really gutted with the result. We defended brilliantly for long periods with 10 men, never looked out of place and pushed the European Champions all the way till the end. As Sheva said, it just felt so disgusting when the ball dropped for Martinez and he scored. Sickening! We had the better chances which we should have converted at least another but sadly didn't. Otherwise, proud of the players' performance. The effort, commitment, desire and determination were immense!

Oh gawd. Ramires and Lampard in pivot. :banghead: Torres starts. :banghead: No Mata. :banghead:
