Ozil definitely has some stamina and fitness issues and it's definitely a reason why he has only a completed about a quarter of his games at Madrid under Mourinho.

Everton v Palace game is off as well. And not to mention, City having to cope with the mental pressure of playing catch up or staying at the top benefit us.

Anything to make sure we stay as comfortable as possible in the Top 4...

Like Choulo said above, Ivanovic charged towards Berahino and then just stopped to watch the latter put in a cross with all the time and space given. Already feeling like a broken record at this point but again, nobody ask Ivanovic to go commit and sell himself easily to be owned by Berahino but for goodness sake, having got there, he should be a tad closer, put more pressure on the ball and not let it come in so easily! Seriously if you're gonna come back with similar counter points, then best to just leave it here than going in circles.
-
No reason to panic yes but unfortunately, we are not that good in killing games/teams off early. Ivanovic always seem to do that and even Luiz too who has a tendency to do the same.
-
Just want to throw in this... Chelsea are now unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League matches - W8 D3; the longest unbeaten they have had in one season since 2007/08 where the Blues went unbeaten in 21 league games between December 2007 and May 2008 - W15 D6.

And Fulham and Crystal Palace and Newcastle!

Roy Hodgson to reveal his decision on whether to give Chelsea's John Terry a recall to the England squad

Ivanovic was running half the length of the field?! He was already in the penalty box, in a defensive position when West Brom had the ball and Berahino got it. Moreover, as soon as it was clear Berahino was going to receive the ball, Ivanovic did go out to face the threat but he didn't do it quick and aggressive enough. He allowed all the time and space to him! And this 2 v 1 situation you're talking about, it wouldn't even be possible with Ridgewell a few yards behind Berahino and in line with him when he had the ball. Of course, Berahino can get past Ivanovic but nobody is asking the latter to get dive into a challenge or get very tight for that happen but close and enough pressure to put Berahino off. There's Mikel and even Ramires and Cahill to cover Ivanovic and any danger behind him! That doesn't mean Ivanovic should be excused of his mistake.
-
Also, who on earth was he shouting 'f*ck off' to? Have seen some said it was Mourinho and others said it was towards another player.
-
Arsenal and Manchester City aside, Liverpool can close the gap on us to 4 points tonight if they beat Fulham and not to mention, the ones outside the Top 4 can also close the gap to 7 points if they win their games. Eeek!
-
Not that I necessarily disagree with the point (after all, we've been playing well and Mourinho probably wants to continue the consistency) but rather than Oscar, perhaps others like Hazard or Willian should have probably been rested. Oscar, after all, for instance didn't play in last Monday's game against City while the likes of Hazard, Willian etc did. There definitely seems to be a lack of trust on our squad players, if you like. They might not be great but good enough to do a job when required. Mourinho's reluctance to bring off Cahill, who was clearly injured, yesterday for Cole and shift Ivanovic back to CB and Azpi to RB probably illustrates this.
-
At the moment, Oscar is either very very good in matches or very very average in it. Definitely need to get more consistency into his game. Can't afford to drift in and out of games like yesterday for instance.
-
And yet the 5 yards could be less had Ivanovic got out quicker! I know you don't think Ivanovic is at fault here but first you said, Ivanovic couldn't close Berahino down because there was a gap between him and Cahill (Mikel and even Ramires can cover), then Ivanovic couldn't do that because it would become a 2 v 1 situation (no WBA player was near Berahino to do that) and now you're saying letting him get goal side or even cross to the near post is far worse when there is not one WBA player there and either Cahill or Mikel can clear it?! Nobody ask Ivanovic to just charge in on Berahino and win the ball back but he needed to get out quicker and be more aggressive in closing Berahino down. The cross may still come in but at least put pressure on the ball, on the crosser and make as difficult as possible for the opposition to put a ball in, which may result in them putting an inaccurate cross. If you are just gonna stand off the player and give him time and space to cross the ball, you are basically running the risk of that player putting in a good cross and one of their teammates score it especially if somebody else in that defence makes a mistake.
-
No. It was clear that as soon as Berahino got the ball, Ivanovic should be more aggressive and quicker in coming out to put pressure on the ball but he didn't. And what 2 v 1 situation are you talking about? Even if Berahino got past Ivanovic, there's Mikel and heck even Ramires to cover as he was standing so close to Ivanovic. Ridgewell was near the touchline and not even close to the penalty box.
-
I'm not sure if you're just taking the piss now or......
-
Nobody ask Ivanovic to get very tight or even dive into challenge on Berahino like TOPTB suggested above but for goodness sake, at least get a bit closer and put pressure on the ball. And even let's just say Ivanovic tries to put in a challenge and Berahino sped past him, there's Mikel (before Cahill) behind Ivanovic to provide cover. It's not the first time and won't be the last Ivanovic will commit such dreadful error.
