Belgium did not qualify to the euros...

You could always come to Finland. Here the government gives money to unemployed people and no one is homeless. I'm sure we would take you in if you just asked.

Barcelona's third kit if I'm not mistaken. I want to know what the fuck have they been thinking at Nike when designing Barcelona and Manchester United shirts this year? :lol2:

Di Matteo still the bookies' favorite but rumors about him being offered only a one year contract which he would most likely reject. Guardiola is taking a year off from football so he's not an option (at least not a realistic one) at the moment. If we can't reach an agreement with RDM then it's probably Capello for a short term deal and then next summer we would probably go for Guardiola, Klopp, Blanc or some other flavor of the month manager whose teams play sexy football. Personally I'm hoping for Di Matteo on a two year contract.

Being Champions of Europe is no longer enough, we want to be Champions of the World. The trophy looks nice too.

He looks pretty incredible to me in the picture Sh0n3x posted above.

Because we need to prepare ourselves to the fact Torres may fail badly again next season and we need a viable option if that were to be the case. Someone like Doumbia or Jovetic would be great. As for Demba Ba, he only scored one goal since the arrival of his fellow countryman Papiss Cisse in January so he clearly doesn't play well if he's not the main man. Of course Ba was forced to play at LW sometimes but that's not an excuse for playing very badly and he should have scored more. Also Ba's knees are a problem and he was lucky to go through last season without injuring himself. If we bought Ba and he turned out to be shit when forced to be Torres' backup or he got injured, what would we do then? For £7m I know there's not much risk but still... And who says he would only cost £7m?
-
I like him too but I have to admit I've only seen him play in the Champions League and that's not enough to say if he's good enough to be Drogba's replacement and if he's worth anywhere near that £24m mentioned. From what I've seen he looks to be a good finisher with explosive pace and likes to receive through balls from the midfielders. Kind of reminds me of Torres when he was at his best. I have to say it would be fitting if Drogba's own countryman came in and took his old #11 shirt.

Those were just examples of places where a player with a good reputation can get a shitload of money but MLS is good too. And you are correct by saying it's all speculation at this time but I saw some people saying he deserves a raise (not just on this forum) after leading us to the CL title and that's what I answered to.
-
To the people saying he deserves a pay raise even though his role will soon be smaller than before, I ask you why do other clubs' veteran players accept a pay cut when they grow older? Giggs, Scholes etc. have been great servants for Manchester United for an even longer period of time than Lampard has been for us but they've still accepted a smaller role with smaller wages. If we seriously want to move forward as a club we need to reconsider if we want to give Lampard a new contract with wages of something like 200k a week for God knows how many more years and in a year or two he will most certainly be too old to start the majority of games and then we have a player with MASSIVE wages sitting on the bench. Don't get me wrong, to me he's a Chelsea legend forever and I want him to get a contract extension so he can retire at the club when the time comes but Frank needs to meet the club halfway and not demand outrageous wages for a smaller role. If he can't accept that then maybe it will be better for both parties that he leaves next year and goes to China or Russia to get his final paycheck but I hope we can work things out with him and he stays for a couple of more years at least.

Wasn't me who first brought up the subject.

Nah, I would say playing DM requires more discipline than CB because a defensive midfielder is always needed to be in a good position to receive a pass in order for the team to keep possession of the ball and every time a centre back goes forward the DM has to stay back and cover for him. If for example Luiz was playing at the anchor role and he decides to go on one of his forward runs with one of the centre backs in the opposition half as well then who covers the huge gap in defense? We all know Luiz couldn't always resist the urge of going forward and countless of times in every match we would end up in a situation described above and every time it would present the opposition with a goal-scoring chance. And if Luiz wasn't allowed to go forward then what's the point of playing him at DM? At centre mid he would be allowed to occasionally leave his position without it costing goals almost every time but the difference between playing CB and CM is too much and there's no point making Luiz all confused by attempting to play him in a role he has never played before. And like I said, why should we even try to change Luiz's position when he is playing well enough at CB and we already have Mikel and Romeu for DM? Regarding the Champions League money, you are right by saying we received more money this year than last year but it's partly because the other English clubs dropped out early on and their share from the English sides' TV revenue is not as big as ours. A couple of more millions in prize money too compared to last year but it's not as big a difference as you might think.

Or some really good dope.

Not confirmed yet but looking likely. Will be a sad day when King Salomon leaves.

http://www.thesun.co...elsea-deal.html I know it's the Sun but this is exactly what I said a couple of pages back. From the club's perspective a one year deal would be perfect but like I said Di Matteo won't be short of options this summer and he's certainly not desperate enough to agree to such deal. Offering him a one year contract is like saying "fuck you, we don't trust you enough to commit to you for more than one year and then we can get Guardiola if things go south" to the manager who has just won us the Champions League so he would be absolutely right to reject the offer. If he accepted a one year deal and failed, the club could just move on next summer but for him it would be much harder to land a good job after that than it is now as a Champion of Europe. Let's just hope he doesn't go to Liverpool.
-
And your point is? Even the home kit there is a fake so why would the other two be real?
-
These are just wrong. David Luiz is nowhere near disciplined enough to play DM and imo he's a great CB so why try fixing something that ain't broken? At right-back why get some second rate footballer like Danny Simpson to be first choice when we already have Ivanovic to play there and he's one of the best right-backs in the league? Of course we need a backup for him but would be very stupid to get two new right-backs as you suggested with Simpson / Azpilicueta. What do you mean we didn't have CL money last year? We got almost as much as this year even though we were knocked out in the QFs. To get all of those players you mentioned it would cost a hell of a lot more than that 100 mil and there's absolutely no way we can sign all of Hazard, Hulk and Modric in just one transfer window. Maybe one of those if we are lucky and then some cheaper alternatives for the others.
-
Malouda was not mentioned above because his contract is not expiring this summer. Chances are we will still try to get rid of him but we can't just go and announce that a player who still has one year in his contract is leaving, unless a transfer has already been agreed with another club.
-
Sacking AVB won us the Champions League. Maybe he would have been a success in the coming seasons but in hindsight sacking him was definitely the right move because we would never have won the UCL had we sticked with André.
-
Rooney for them is like Terry, Lampard and Drogba for us, as in paid more than other players in the team because of their importance on and off the pitch. If United (same goes for us btw.) paid Hazard 200k a week then most of their key players would be at Fergie's door demanding to get the same amount as the newcomer. City don't have this problem when most of their buys in the last couple of years have been handed out ridiculous contracts and even players who don't play week in week out get paid around that 200k.

If Chelsea were a movie, who would be the actors?
Jype replied to manpe's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Drogba when asked who would play him in a movie: "I don't know, because Jupp Heynckes said I am a good actor, so maybe me!" -
This. If he in fact does sign for us then many on this forum will have made fools out of themselves. Still plenty of time to call him a cunt if he rejects us.
-
Why? Do you honestly believe someone like that diving cunt Ashley Young will keep him out of United's starting lineup? I would think Hazard as a definite starter on the left with Nani and Valencia fighting it out for the starting spot on the right. Valencia is so one footed it's ridiculous so he wouldn't threaten Hazard's place on the left and I'm having a hard time imagining Nani either because most of his best games have come on the right wing. And at City who do they even have on the wings? Nasri hasn't exactly lived up to expectations and Silva plays mainly behind the striker where Mata has played for us. They have had to use their strikers Balotelli, Aguero and Tevez on the wings because they don't have any good wingers, just like it is with Chelsea. Of course they do have Milner and Johnson, but who are we kidding if we say they are the reasons why Hazard shouldn't go to City? Milner isn't anywhere near as good as Eden and Johnson is most likely leaving this summer.
-
Let's not use the "players go to City only for the money" card here and be realistic. There are plenty of reasons for him to go to Man City even in addition to the money. He would be a definite starter in all three teams and has a good chance of winning trophies whichever team he decides to go to. As far as the wages go I think he would get pretty much the same amount from us and Man City with United slightly behind. If money is important to him then it's up to us and City but I believe United's offer will still be good enough and he will make his choice from the three teams.
