Exactly. And that is big Phil's fault. He should carry all the burden. Hulk kept playing despite being awful. Oscar kept starting despite not even being in "ok" form all year. Shakhtar benchwarmer over willian(which I am reluctant to call out since Bernard looked the offensive guy trying out there) Big Phil messed it.
For a portion of the match Argentina went like 40 minutes between shots. All of this with fellaini pushing up like an idiot and leaving witsel exposed to messi and higuain. They showed up. There were three guys who didn't though. Origi Mirallas(who never disappeared although he was awful) And Hazard(anonymous and passive) Say what you want but they were the ones who let the side down.
He was decent at it today. Just missed a penalty, but that isnt the sum of him as a player any more than Oscar's missed free header against Mexico in the olympic final is his sum as a player.
I think fabregas coming to take on the creative load will do wonders for his game. Watching him today and it was still clear that he can't provide the creative spark that a traditional 10 will give. It simply isn't a part of his game.
He had to make Neymar the key playmaker though. That gives Brazil the best chance at winning because Neymar is literally a once in a generation type of talent. Who in that squad can break down an offense like Neymar? Maybe Hernanes when hes in form. Hulk once in a blue moon. Big Phil did what he had to International football usually comes down to that "one pass" or presence. Other than that goal in the panama game he was full of intensity in a game that was lacking it from the brazil side.
If Willian was far from impressive the recent game then Oscar was a trainwreck, and was even worse the friendly before that. If Willian hasnt taken his spot after the croatia match then it will only be because Oscar has drastically turned it around.
