one of the best things to happen to Chelsea? They were hardly the best National team ever. He would still be in the teens for appearances if not for Chelsea. He has, in no way, proven himself with them. He gets the caps because of what this club represents.

He got to captain Spain at the olympics, and more appearances because of Chelsea. His displays on the pitch with us, a big club, is why he has seen the pitch with Spain. Same with Torres getting minutes with Spain when he was playing awful with us.
