  1. I'd rather keep Gittens than Garnacho. Garnacho just sucks - and it also goes to show why G/A are meaningless without context too for wingers.
  2. It just seems like a typical signing people would lose their minds over in 2 years time when we've dropped 90 mil on him and then hes bang average. We've seen with Liverpool that you can't just spend $500 mil and be good or better.
  3. I think there is a player in Delap. Just needs some consistency of play and confidence. Your run in football often is about luck and timing as much as anything - eg Cole Palmer or Vitinha. Even last night against the Wolves - did some really great stuff but just didn't follow through with it due to confidence and game time. Turned his man several times, made a great run, and then just butchered the pass or overhit it. One being to Garnacho... who wouldn't have done anything and really is a lost cause.
  4. Delap played well when he was on... not sure why you threw his name into the mix. Also JP once again wreaking havoc with a superb performance.
  5. Julian Alvarez has 7 goals in 22 games in a weaker and more open La Liga, but he is the 9 we should be going after?
  6. He won us a the CWC. He scored in our most important match this season against Napoli and won us the game. Scores again in our last game which LR described as our most important game in the league - and that was true to maintain that top 5 position. The style of goals he has scored this season, his ability to shoot off both feet, hold the ball up, link up, work in the air. Not my fault you can't differentiate closest thing to a Didier we've had to "OMG hes better than Drogba bro!". Their games are similar, and they show up in big moments, and even when they don't score they are effective. We haven't had this style of striker since DD. Go play outside dude.
  7. lol you guys wait for one game where JP doesn't score and you slight him. He has literally scored in every big game this season for us bar today. Some of you really have rose tinted glasses for the past.
  8. The guy wasn't joining any team immediately. That probably played a part in it. You can't expect every transfer to go smoothly or work out. It isn't a common theme at all. We got JP ahead of Newcastle. We certainly paid more than 30/40 mil as well. We've spent on some players that haven't panned out as well. We were going to spend 60+ though we didn't win out. It happens. Sarr looks like a great prospect and current gem - we still come out good.
  9. There is articles from today saying we offered nearly double the amounts you just mentioned - and a player went with another choice. These owners spend tonnes in baseball, and have shown they will do the same here.
  10. It is a transfer discussion thread talking about how we are competitive in the market and we regularly beat out BIG teams to quality names. I don't have to be explicit to that point. There is a level of common sense I feel is applied.
  11. He was unantainable which is why I didn't bother bringing him up.
  12. It is their job to be active and looking in the market. They probably did like the look of him but not for the conditions outlined. Things change on a whim in the business development and contracts world. No one is leading anyone on with a song and dance.
  13. Its incredible how everyone says we were overpaying for him, who is he, doesn't look that good. Now Liverpool get him and we all act like we can't do business. You lot are mad. We got Estevao and Quenda who are the most talented players in the world at their age bracket. We got Caicedo the most coveted midfielder. Lavia who was wanted by major clubs. We literally beat out clubs that have massive names to do all this. You don't get every player - especially ones you think are overvalued which is potentially what happened here. It also seems like the coming over next season was a sticking point for both clubs so we may be looking at different options.
  14. I assume Sarr is coming here then.
  15. It is between him and Enzo for our player of the season. Goes to show the team were right about him. He is one of the best shot stoppers in the league - if not the best.
  16. Joao Pedro is the closest thing since Drogba we've had. The man does it all. I'll keep saying it. He always scores in big games too. 5th in the league for goals and assists, and most of any summer signing.
  17. The football definitely seems more pragmatic for now. I don't see us with a real identity in how we play, but less predictable which is nice. I'm seeing less of the side to side BS on the edge of the box that results in nothing when better opportunities down the middle are available.
  18. I'll say it again. JP is the closest thing to Drogba we've had. He can bully, he is good in the air, and he is great at getting the ball with his back to goal and blasting the ball towards goal. He is a fantastic player who helps the team function even when not scoring.
  19. I think he is a fairly average, decent bench option type. If someone wants to overpay for him I'd gladly let him go. He is a subpar athlete, and doesn't open the game up. He seems tactically switched on, but just isn't it. Essugo is the bigger talent and better player but unfortunately he is injured atm.
  20. Jeezus we are idiots at the best of times.
  21. Yep - I've watched a bit of Palace, and this is his worst game in a while. He is really, really good typically.
  22. But is it a handball if his arm is by his side? I think no.
  23. I still rate Wharton, but he has had a shocker against us.
  24. Well - what is the defender supposed to do there?
  25. I don't think its a pen. Where is his arm supposed to be?
