  1. Some of you on here just blatantly hate. Are we going to pretend like Inter was in the same state? Come on, really.
  2. I've been impressed with Bertrand when he's played, so I think he could definitely step up. Lukaku is not quite ready yet IMO. Get him on loan and let the kid build his confidence and skills up. He's too big and too strong to simply be a counter attacking goal scorer which is what he is at the moment. He needs to learn to play with his back to goal.
  3. Yeah, sorry, that bit wasn't directed at you. Just seems like some people are certain Barca will score. I honestly don't think they will. And if they do, I think they'll overplay it and concede on the counter. Just my opinion.
  4. Now is not the time to experiment and play players like Luiz out of position.
  5. Completely agree. Obviously I didn't like the amount of possession we had and the way we played, but the result was great. Having said that, it's a thing of beauty to watch Ramires in full flight attacking the other teams defense. He's gotten quite crafty with the ball as well putting on some nice dukes to get around players in his way. Before he'd just charge. Seems like Danny has showed him a few moves in practice.
  6. I'm just not getting the "Oh, it's Camp Nou now, they're definitely scoring goals there" attitude. Says who? I'd like to see Sturridge play. Ramires was killing them just with his pace on those long balls. If we get Sturridge in there, who is probably our most technically proficient player in the squad with the ball at his feet, I think it will cause them even more problems. He just needs to understand to track back and get into those gaps, to make it easier to defend. I'm sure some have mentioned it, but prior to this game I was sure that we'd have to play Torres in this second one and live off the counter, but it's got to be Drogba. When we do get the ball, we need someone who can hold it. With Ramires and Sturridge on the wings, I think it would lead to great link up play, and Drogba is sublime at finding the gaps as he showed last night as well. I remember the ball he played to Kalou right at the end, and I was thinking to myself, if that had been Sturridge, he would have been quick enough to get there before the Barca player.
  7. Why fix something if it isn't broken is the expression I'll stick with here. Why change anything? The possession was 75-25 in favour of them. Not like it's going to be 95-5 at Camp Nou. We stopped them from scoring, we can do it again with the same team. Mata should indeed play. He's one of our better players at holding the ball up and maintaining possession. Another reason I was shocked to see Kalou on instead of Malouda or Sturridge. Sturridge is fantastic at creating and keeping the ball. He could be important in this next fixture as a substitute.
  8. Great result. Drogba, Ramires and Cahill were standouts. I don't know how many times Cahill managed to get his body in the way of a shot. Beauty!
  9. HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT... Holy shit... YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH BABY!
  10. No complaints about that team outside of Meireles. Though, we have to play slightly more defensive, and he's got a better shot outside the box on him than Kalou. Plus Meireles loves the physical game, so if that is our plan, then by all means it is a good choice.
  11. I shall be joining you in your crusade. I can't sleep, so Uni is taking second place at this point. Am staying up to watch our boys hammer these Spaniards 3-0.
  12. I'm really not worried about the result, although obviously I'd love to thrash them and win. For me, I see it as a win-win for us either way. If we end up going through, great. If we don't, and get thrashed by some chance, then it will be blatantly obvious that the team needs a complete overhaul if we want to compete at the best level again. We'll finally be having a serious look at all those players everyone is excited about adding to our team in the transfers. Either way, I think it will be great football, and it will lead to great things for us. I don't think anything bad can come from this bar injury to any of our players. I'm looking forward to great football, and whenever we face off, its usually been that way.
  13. Ramires was amazing today. 5-1... Haha. Scott Parker can suck a fat one as well.
  14. Fuck me... That was ridiculous. That made me happy... in the pants... it was that good... Hmmm.
  15. Valencia is not usually crap, or maybe he is if you think one of the best in the world is crap. I've never rated Nani highly, though apparently everyone in the football community does, so... Really? Evra is overrated when you have a guy like Clichy starting for City. I'd take Evra over him any day. Most importantly United have a young squad that is constantly improving.
  16. I think you're underrating the Man Utd squad a fair bit. I hate it when people make it seem as if they have nothing to play with. Valencia, Young, Evra, Vidic, Rooney, Nani, etc... would all be starters at Man City. I'd take Ferdinand over Lescott as well.
  17. What an utter scumbag and piece of trash he is. I've never liked him since I've seen him step into the EPL and finally got to see him play on a more regular basis. Everything that is wrong with football is represented in Mario Balotelli, and tonight he highlighted everything in the one game. Literally everything. He dives, tries to intimidate the officials, he is beyond doubt one of the most dirtiest players to step on the field, he complains and divides his team, not to mention he acts like he is bigger than the game itself. Most of you can look at all this as 'what a funny player and dividing character'... Not really. I can't see how anyone can like the guy. He doesn't have one good quality about him. Just an utter scumbag.
  18. Last time I checked Torres outplayed Danny by a country mile in our last two games, and based on the fact of form and play that would merit Torres playing over him.
  19. The difference between Kalou and Torres is that Torres can actually dribble the ball. I was getting a headache just watching Kalou get the ball against Stoke...
  20. Sturridge is too good not to play IMO. I'd put him the place of Lamps or Ramires.
  21. I don't know if it's just the natural transition of a new manager or what, but I've been very happy with the way we've been playing outside the Stoke game with RDM. Not sure if people will agree with this, but what I've noticed is we're getting better looks on goal, closer to goal, and more opportunities on goal with RDM running the team. I was utterly frustrated watching us with AVB in attack due to the lack of creativity. Though now we look great. Back to creating 5-10 decent opportunities a game. Though I will say, be wary of the manager with three initials. AVB... and now RDM. Is it a sign to get rid of him before we get in too deep? Just kidding. Lets hope he doesn't lose or draw a game all season.
  22. He cops way too much flak from the media, and the commentary box in games. Any little blunder is brought up and discussed for 15 minutes. I'm not exactly sure why, but, it is. I personally feel most comfortable with Luiz in defense and when he has the ball, in regard to any of the other defenders having the ball at their feet. I honestly believe he's the most sure of himself out of our back-line and he plays with a real vigor and aggression. Out of our current squad, I'd say he's one of the few world class players we have on the team, and is the only one that is constantly looking to get us forward and the offense moving.
  23. Yes, our goalkeeper shouldn't have to make so many saves, but he should be making the ones every good goalkeeper would. I'm getting sick of watching our games and seeing us in a good position and seeing him get beaten at his near post or with a shot on goal that simply would have been saved had his positioning been better. He's completely out of whack. If anything we should send Cech to Atletico so he can redevelop into what he was. He's the one that could use it at the moment, where as the youngster Courtois seems ready.
  24. The guy is an absolute stud. The ball is glued to his feet on a Messi like level IMO. Obviously he doesn't have the rest of the game like Messi, but he can develop into a really, really good player. Very creative, though sometimes doesn't make the right decision, but then again, it's Basel and he doesn't have the quality of a good team around him. He'll absolutely shine in the Bundesliga.
  25. With our success rate of buying proven players, it is probably better we've gone for something a bit unexplored and based on talent of what could be. In the EPL particularly, it's the smaller clubs that find most of the talents which are later scooped up by the bigger clubs. Might as well try and get a one up on the competition and get these young guys while they are still cheap. I'm not overly thrilled about the signing as I don't think he has the potential of other similarly priced talents, but then again I'm not watching the league he plays in every day like I am the EPL. He could do a lot of things that aren't shown in his highlights that help his team win. So as long as he can come here and do that, I'll be happy.
