  1. He didn't seem to mind scoring with either of them. Right one was on point in the first minute, and the left one finished the game off for us.
  2. He has instantly become my favourite player. Didn't take long. I love the fact he is no nonsense, and just goes out and gets it done, while being himself and not caring what others think on top of that. A lot are waiting on him to go crazy and snap or whatever, but I think he gets it enough to know how far he can and can't go. I think he knows EPL isn't La Liga, and certain things that fly over there won't go over here. Hoping he keeps this scoring up. Phenomenal player.
  3. Why are people on here so pedantic and picky over how we are to think of and treat Mata? He played 82 league games for us... 82. To put things into perspective, Torres has played 102 for us, and despite being absolute trash for the most part, there are more defining moments with him that stick out than Mata during his time here. Both good and bad I guess, but still. Maybe some of you should stop acting as if you are the end all and be all on the decision in how we should view Mata. I, personally, like some other Chelsea fans, don't really care for him. He played 82 games here, so he really isn't some bona fide Chelsea legend like some are harping on about on here. He played some great football here, and made some great moments, no one is denying it, but in general, he was someone who didn't want to fight for his spot, and in the end, didn't deserve it. Willian, Hazard and now Cesc are all better players than him anyway, so selling him was the right move. And now he is off at a rival club, and seemingly very happy with all his tweets and talk, and I'm supposed to be a fan? He's not Lampard, he's not Drogba, etc. He's the guy that played here 82 league games, less than his previous club, and I'm supposed to admire and respect him because he's a polite Spaniard who says the right things in front of the camera and played some football here? Yeah, nah. He's a good footballer, with a lot of weaknesses, who does a good job standing out on a team where he can be the creator. I respect the fact he got us 38 mil despite not being as good as any of our current front players who start. He came in handy and I thank him for that. Everyone is allowed to have their opinion, whether you think justified or unjustified. No one has to have some vested interest in a player because you do or because you dictate they should based on certain principles. Rant over...
  4. Another thing... It's great when the goals are going in, but Schurlle needs to learn to pass the ball. He is the only selfish player we have on the field, and really only looks out for himself at times, or at least it's what it looks like. I'm not sure if he doesn't have it in his game to throw some nifty passes around, but he needs to get better at it. It was extremely frustrating watching him at times.
  5. We were very average today, but we got the win. Perfect result given the performance. This is the one big teams win. Everyone outside of Ivanovic and Hazard were poor or barely average. Matic did well for the second half of the game, as did Oscar in a few stretches. Willian for me was the best player on the field as soon as he stepped on. Costa had a Torres like game today, but unlike Torres, he didn't forget how to shoot, and stood up when his name was called. Another thing, is it me, or is Ivanovic flat out the best player in terms of winning balls in the air? Absolute beast. Fantastic game from him today. My MOTM along with Willian.
  6. Enjoyed the game. Cesc was fantastic, as was Hazard for me. Two things I'd like to point out, one which has been mentioned is Oscar's role in the team. I like how he tracks back, works hard to win the ball back, and is generally never short on effort, but at the same time, he doesn't have the touch, intelligence and feel for the game like Cesc, Hazard, Costa and Willian do when going forward. At times he seems to hold up the ball for too long and that can cause us to miss a few of those slight chances to get moving forward. Second thing being, which I don't think has been mentioned is Diego Costa's fantastic ability to move the ball, find the man, and just generally being a fantastic link up player. I'll admit I knew little about him, and despite how horrible Torres is at finishing and being a striker in general, I've always found he was fantastic in build up play and helping our wings facilitate and get the ball to the right places. I thought this would be lost with Costa out there, but damn, he is brilliant at whipping the ball around and moving into the right spot. Some will say, wait and see how things go, it's just one game, etc... But at the same time, you can tell a great player is a great player with the way he carries himself on the field and just the general things out there. Very excited about our new players and the season ahead.
  7. Absolutely amazing to get a player of his quality for the price we did, when you consider we sold a player not even half as good in Mata for more. Great work by the club in getting a multi-faceted player that can do a bunch of things we need on the field.
  8. Given all the history, and the injury list Everton has right now, they probably will end up throwing the game to City. Hope I'm wrong though.
  9. Atletico most definitely will not. It is to their advantage to attack from the get go. They have a reasonable result of 0-0 at home, and now even with a goal from us, they only need one to qualify. A goal to them is more important and valuable than one to us. Plus they have not been that team this season as much as others will like you to believe. They often press quite high and a lot of their counters come from winning the ball in the midfield, having the defence scrambling backwards and catching a team out without numbers back.
  10. He did what every player should do in that situation...
  11. I know we're all getting lost in the Hazard wave, but how good was Matic? Seriously? This guy is a beast... He gets to everything, and if he doesn't he goes back, fights for the ball, and gives a second effort every damn time. Not to mention, he gives us so much more than someone like Mikel, since he can actually push past a defender, and make a pass going forward. He looks to be an absolutely phenomenal signing at this point. He was absolutely immense for the first 70 or so minutes of this game.
  12. I've said multiple times to friends that the form Hazard is in currently is something truly special, and right up there with the best of them. Hes one of the best players in the world at this point and on a truly special run of form. We're truly blessed as supporters to have him on our team and watch this quality of football. I'm quite young, but I've seen, read and heard about a lot of great players at our club, but this guy just might end up being the best of them all when we look back. He was a great footballer before, but now, along with under the guidance of Mou, hes become sensational. The style of play suits him perfectly, and hes an absolute menace on the wing and even in the middle.
  13. I've never even attempted to be rude on here, but do you even know what you're talking about? One of Hazard's greatest attributes is his ability to hold the ball. His other being exactly what you're trying to claim as a weakness; ability to hold the ball under a tackle, or physical pressure. Hazard is one of the rare categories of footballers along with the Messi's, Maradona's, Rooney's, etc, in which it is damn near impossible to get the ball off him when he is dribbling in field/sideways. Simply due to his short and bulldog like nature on the field. He gets his feet set hard in the ground, and gives him tremendous ability to either push off or protect the ball brilliantly with his low center of gravity. Hazard is extremely strong on the ball, simply due to his build, and because he knows how to use it, much like Messi. Impossible to get the ball off of at times.
  14. You can find my posts on Mata in here throughout mid season, and even just as recently as this season. I've always maintained what I said above. He simply isn't as good as Hazard. I even prefer Willian and Oscar over Mata, although, if anyone were to go, I would have kept Mata and got rid of Schurlle.
  15. Hazard is a better player. I think you just need to accept that. Mata is a great player, but with glaring holes in his game, unlike Hazard. Hes pushed off the ball easily, unlike Hazard. Hes slow for a player his size, unlike Hazard. Has an average first touch, unlike Hazard. Not to mention Hazard draws more attention and breaks defenses down far better than Mata ever has, even in his first season. The only trait Mata has over Hazard is his passing ability. What Hazard has done this season is better than anything Mata has done for us.
  16. This is pretty much how I feel. We were nothing special with him as the main man, and now we are finding some semblance of dominant play, particularly in the midfield, and its with Hazard essentially being the main man, with Oscar being the guy hustling all over the field. Willian has, to me at least, already proven to be the guy that should be starting. He does all of what Mata does, but hes got a better first touch, and pace to go along with it. I wouldn't be devastated in selling Mata as I would for example KDB. I think he got overrated here very quickly, and while I was a huge fan, I was also very realistic of his talent, unlike some people here.
  17. What game were you freaking watching? Him, Willian and Ramires were the only bright spots on the field.
  18. Cole was terrible... Ba was good at everything apart from finishing. What happened to the guy that played at Newcastle. He was a monster in front of goal... Deadly. Now... not so much.
  19. Schrulle is a great player to have against the lesser teams. His direct play and constant attack of the defense really sets them back and causes them to panic. I still wouldn't play him in the bigger games, but hes a great against teams we should win against. I mean that in the best way possible, since no result is guaranteed, but players like this add to the chances of getting the result you should against lesser teams.
  20. Sturridge is a far better footballer than Moses. Moses really isn't cut out to be a Chelsea player. Hes a nice, speedy wing that will occasionally do something nice, but he can't take control of a game. I personally am not fussed over this like I was about Sturridge. I was absolutely livid we sold him for such a low price to a direct competitor, and then went off and bought a downgraded version of him in Schurrle for 10 million pound more essentially. Absolutely horrid piece of business, where as this makes sense, since we replaced him with a far better player in Willian.
  21. So glad we have this guy on our team. His touch and dribbling ability is insane. He sets up so much for us with the way he draws defenders in. Its amazing that people have been complaining about his start to the season, when I think hes been fantastic. Some on here need to pipe down and realize he does a lot more than the stuff that shows up on the score sheets. He would probably have the most "hockey assists" in the league last season (aka the pass before the assist) due to the way he draws in the defenders, and he'll probably lead that again comfortably as well as being among the actual assist leaders. Our best player, and was great watching him play against Bayern. You can tell hes really been working on tracking back and helping on defense. Hes only going to separate himself more from the rest of the talent with Mou here, and he'll become the best player in England shortly.
  22. That's not a philosophy Jose has. Its what happens when you have 10 men against the best team in football on the planet, arguably. We played absolutely brilliant. Obviously upset slightly due to losing, but this trophy really doesn't mean much, and it seems like we're putting it together. At stages in the match, we looked like Real Madrid going forward on the counter. Very nice football to watch, and I thought we were clearly the more dangerous team when it was 11v11. We created so many chances, but just need to fix up on our finishing. I'm sure Eto'o and more time for Lukaku will fix that. Speaking of Lukaku. Keep your head up kid. No one is upset at you. At least not the fans that matter. You'll get the next one.
  23. I'll just say that our 3 players behind the striker are very overrated in terms of how they play. You can loathe the talent all you want, and its true, it is stacked with it, but there is nothing pleasing about the way we've developed over the last season and a bit. The 3 (whoever it may be who is playing on the day) are very guilty of simply holding and over dribbling the ball. That was the biggest thing I got out of today's game. Anyone else notice how quickly the ball is moving from one person to the other on United's team, especially up the front? They aren't nearly half as talented, and they do it far better than we do. It's also a massive reason as to why nearly every striker that's played here for us recently has struggled. I can tell Mou is trying to get rid of the habits too, since the defenders and midfielders have caught on, but you still get Oscar, Hazard and particularly Mata being guilty of it. I think its one of the main reasons Mata was sitting today. Hazard and Oscar are far more likely to push the ball, and Hazard actually does a great job of drawing defenders and creating. As for the result, good. Just not happy with the front 3 or 4.
  24. Wait... we're getting Eto'o for 2 million? Why are people against this exactly?
  25. Hazard is our best player, not Mata. And Mata isn't in RVP's class.
