40 million, guys This sort of money could revive the economy of a small country ffs.

^ For a player who is credited for being a good goalscorer from midfield, he sure has few goals and assists. Or maybe I'm just spoilt having seen our greatest ever player, Lampard, smash such numbers per season.

Do you know what an out and out dive is? You go down without contact, the likes of Ronaldo and Neymar are masters at that. Bellerin didn't get the ball, his foot was high and he kicked Eden's shin(?). He added some theatrics to the fall, but that isn't a dive when in principal it is a foul. If he had somehow managed to keep his balance, you can bet the ref wouldn't have given anything, when in reality the pen should have been given in spite of him falling or staying up. That's why players sometimes overreact, Gary Neville explained it well. WAS a foul, NOT a dive... even experts in sky studios agreed with that including an ex-referee.

Isn't he a winger and Coutinho central? Not a like-for-like replacement.
-
Why would they even need him when they have Salah and Mane? He'd be on the bench. Given the chance think he'd prefer us, reunion with Kante and Drinksy and more game time. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Haz got the kick during the game? Might be the reason for being taken off then. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

It was said he's fully recovered afaik. Just needs to work on fitness now. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Even though some may not be in favour of this signing, we have to give credit to the club. Scouted and identified target for some years, and we went on and got our long-term target. In a wise way also, didn't sign a handicap for 30mill in the summer, instead waited and paid peanuts to beat the competition to it. Getting him on a free would have been harder imo, and he can help us in the remaining season too. It is a good start to the window from at least the club's point of view. Now we have time to move to others hopefully. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Savage! He said what most of us are thinking. Especially Mourinho at the end, he went away but continues to look and comment about us, he is the new voyeur. Wenger is just being Wenger, with selective memory and vision trying to influence referees, thinking he's the new Sir Alex of the EPL.
-
I would play Luiz purely because Bakayoko is a liability defensively, but I agree with the rest. Ideally of course neither of them would come close to our midfield. Would rather play Azpi in midfield, he is intelligent enough, has better vision and ball-playing skills than both, but he's far too important in our defence to move him away.
-
You sure about that?

If nobody suitable is available, then don't sign for the sake of signing. We'll be stuck with horseshit for years like this if we do. Just make due with Morata and Bats and the occasional false 9.
-
Now I'm worried, you are often correct with your assessments.
-
Wooden-legged hoof-ball typecast, can't play flowing technical football with (players like) him. Relegation/mid-table level signing would that be. Would prefer a backup striker in the mould of Jesus of City, Morata is good in the air as is. Only thing going for him is being English, if he was from a foreign no-name club you can bet we wouldn't even look at him. Would be a very underwhelming signing.
-
CM or AM, the only options really.
-
We will know depending on how much game time he will get.
-
Best case is him retiring here as a club legend.
-
Confirmed? Don't think he has yet. Caballero Christensen - Luiz - Rüdi Zap - Drinkwater - Fabregas - Kenedy Willian - Bats - Pedro

Ex-Blues manager takes another jibe at ‘clown’ Antonio Conte
manpe replied to James's topic in Chelsea Articles
Same here. Tarnishing his legacy. In a way that's good, we're finally rid of his "ghost", but it still saddens me that he's such an asshole... absolutely loved the guy as a kid during and after his 1st stint. -

The only clown I see is that washed up has-been, I think everyone will understand who I'm talking about without naming. -
Is in line with our policy of signing injured players. I would prefer to keep hold of this 15m and keep it in reserve when a chance to sign a true WC midfielder arises, then we wouldn't need to penny pinch that much. But having said that, I do see some upsides to this: Cheap HG option, relatively young, can potentially still sell him for a big profit in the future if it doesn't work out. Is not the worst HG/English player out there, could still be a useful player under proper guidance and with better teammates. Think he will play b2b CM or high AM depending on where he's needed, so that's nice. I do not kid myself, I am excited over any new signing, so I would be very much curious to see him in action. Always want to see new players play for us and see how it changes our game.

That graph must be outdated, Walker still has the spurs badge. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Tactically, I wasn't happy with his substitutions, they showed no ambition. Fabregas, playing well and the only one capable of linking up and feeding the front 2, taken off for a destroyer (Drinkwater) while the useless Bakayoko stayed on for the full match. Fabregas was even much better defensively than Baka (not hard to do). Subbing Drinks for Bakayoko would have made us more solid defensively and more potent offensively. Then the standard Willian for Hazard sub, taking off our only bright spark in attack, the one who won the equalizer by himself and who can pull off something brilliant any second. I don't like to see us so obviously playing for the draw when we had all the chances in the world to win it, reminds too much of Mourinho this. Would have probably won if Bakayoko had been subbed around half-time (or not started at all) and Fab stayed on. It is true he has a pretty bad squad in general, but sometimes his decisions are questionable.

What are you on about mate? Our transfer policy post-2010 has been nothing but looking to the future, we sign almost only young players with potentially bigger resale value. When was the last time we signed somebody 30+? We need steel and experience, Vidal would provide just that.
