The fact that teams like Roma, Panathinaikos, Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Atletico Madrid could be the sort of opposition we could face in the next round means that the competition is very open this year.

Drogba and Anelka really does appear to be similar to Hasselbaink and Gudjohnsen to me - they're the perfect formula, just waiting to be let off the leash together.
-
I'm pretty confident the home form will improve. Yes, we've dropped a lot of points, but draws at home to United and Spurs, and loses to Liverpool and Arsenal aren't totally horrifying results, they're all decent teams, and you couldn't begrudge West Ham and Newcastle a point after their spirited performances. My point is that we've faced the majority of the better sides as home so far this season, and our next three games at the Bridge are against West Brom, Stoke and Boro, which you would assume would lead to 9 more points - then our record at home would read 6 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses, which is looking a lot more positive.

If Scolari doesn't play them together, then he should leave. He's got two very clinical strikers in Drogba and Anelka and the pair of them would be fantastic together - he's a fool if he doesn't see it in training.

As above

After hearing Ferguson go on about the 'importance of finishing top' to rub it in our faces, to see them face Inter and Liverpool have Real is brilliant Juve are still a good side and shouldn't be underestimated, but they certainly aren't the team of 2006 when they had Buffon, Cannavaro and company

£10 million for Malouda!? I can't even flog for that much on Fifa!
-
I really don't like La Liga in honesty
-
Schweingsteiger, but he would come on a free in the summer. And Badboy, Aguero would cost over €100 million. Not really a good option.
-
True, but the one problem is that he is 30 already - we should go for someone younger, someone like Valbuena.
-
I don't care if he is West Ham's manager. You just have to bow to his genuine legendary attitude. True hero to any aspiring footballer or coach.
-
Yakubu, Saha and young James Vaughan are all out for definite - Anichebe is a doubt.
-
We are quite poor atm

Anyone would think we're 10 points adrift at the foot of the table

Scolari on his bike in January ?
BlueLion. replied to Fulham Broadway's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
He said he would like to return to Brazil, I don't recall him saying he wants to do so for definite, and right at this moment. Media sensationalism. Again. -
Essien is the key to everything in our squad. Going forward and defending, he's just got that extra power that means when we are lacking cover at the back, or we need more presence when going forward, he's there to provide it. Ricardo is brilliant at the back and his leadership and organisation is certainly missed. When they're back, we'll stop drawing matches and win them.

Don't blame Kenyon for the Robinho saga, the player even said 'Madrid would not sell me to Chelsea.'

For those who CBA clicking the link...

He was, and he would have won the game but for a very good save from Big Pete.

My team: GK- Cech - slightly biased, perhaps, but he was certainly the most consistent of the five last season. I was tempted to go with Casillas, but despite a good Euro championships, he certainly wasn't invincible in La Liga, conceding 32 goals in 36 games, in comparison to Cech who kept 15 clean sheets in 21 matches. RB - Sergio Ramos - perhaps the best defender in the world. Was brilliant throughout the season for Madrid and did no falter for Spain in the summer. Such a consistent season - and he's only 22. CB - Vidic - Rio Ferdinand gets all the acclaim at the heart of the United defence, but when Vidic doesn't play, they leak goals and lack leadership at the back. Certainly one of the best centre-backs of his generation CB - Carvalho - again, somewhat biased, but Riccy truly is the world's greatest centre-back. In recent seasons, he has made the invincible John Terry look poor in comparison, and his display against Valencia in the Champions League in October 2007 is perhaps the greatest performance by any Chelsea defender in seasons. LB - Lahm - in defence, Lahm is everywhere, covering the centre backs with his speed and tenacious tackling ability. Going forward, he's even more menacing, as the little German's shooting ability is well-documented, having netted three goals this term already. RM and LM - Ronaldo and Ribery - the two best wingers on the planet scored more than 65 goals between them last season. Need I say any more? CDM and CAM - Xavi and Lampard - Xavi, voted the best player in the UEFA Euro 2008 championships, is arguably the best centre midfielder in the world, capable of filling in in an attacking or defending position. At Barcelona, the team revolves around him, not Messi, much like Lampard at Chelsea, who scored 20 goals in 40 games in an injury-blighted season. CF and CF - Benzema and Torres - Nothing needs to be said of Benzema's talent nor Torres' ruthlessness in front of goals - 56 goals between them suggests they are two very in-form forwards. ] Manager - Advocaat - the UEFA Cup, the Supercup, the Russian Premiership and the Russian Cup in all one year? Well done to you, sir!

Fair point, but when you compare results last term with the ones in recent weeks... West Ham - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Newcastle - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Arsenal - 3 points in 07/08, 0 points in 08/09 Liverpool - 1 point in 07/08, 0 points in 08/09 Manchester United - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Spurs - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Villa - 1 point in 07/08, 3 points in 08/09 When you look at that, either teams are improving our we are faltering. 8 points less at home this season than in last year's corresponding games.

Our next home game is with West Brom. If we don't win that, heads will fly.
