Ballack has been an EXCELLENT signing. 22 goals in 114 appearances is an excellent ratio for any player, that's a goal every five games or so.

That's if he plays 99% of matches between now and then. I don't think he can possibly keep scoring 20 goals a season, though, there will come a time when the pace of the league is too great for him as he ages.

Someone that annoys me is Joe Cole, who can go from the sublime to the ridiculous in a matter of minutes

The goals we have conceded have been highly fortunate for the opposition... kind ricochets for Hull and Sunderland, a mistake by Cech and an offside Rooney goal against United. I'm happy with how sound the defence, looks in all honesty - the most important factor is that we are winning games, and have scored seven goals in just three games, which shows we are taking our chances. I really can't ask for anything more than that.

Agreed, under Mourinho in 2004/05, it was really only Cech, Ferreira, Terry and Lampard who were guaranteed starts, and that worked for us.

The thing with the rotation; I still think Ancelotti is trying to find his "perfect" midfield. Lampard is a guaranteed starter, for me its a case of who will start alongside him, and who will partner Didier up top that Carlo is trying to find out. On current evidence, it has to be Anelka as the second striker, with Ballack somewhere in the midfield as well.

Obviously he's an attacking midfielder, but he's being played as a holding player by Carlo and also by Guus last term, to reasonable success, may I add.

The day we will lose will be the day we are outplayed and outclassed by our opponents. This will happen sooner rather than later, and its our response to such set backs - like United losing at Burnley and Liverpool losing at Tottenham, before thrashing their opponents in their next match - that will define our season.
