Because whenever he was on the pitch he made things happen. If not by scoring himself or assisting, then by taking on 2 or 3 defenders and beating them or sending in perfect crosses or long passes. That number is extremely distorted since all of his appearances, as far as I remember, in the league were from the bench, often for mere 5 mins. He was by far Juve's best forward despite not getting chances by Conte.
I envy you, I wanted him to Celtic so I can still watch him play lol You obviously didn't see him ripping the Serie A last season whenever he was on the pitch. There is no such thing as too old for Del Piero, he is immortal!
You can't be serious. We're talking about the team that finished sixth in the PL last season + Hazard vs the undefeated champions of Italy who have also strengthened during the summer. I think we might have a slight advantage, especially that most Juve players don't have much CL experience. But to say we are in a different level is very deluded.
No disrespect to him, but he is the mistake that just won't go away! It wasn't fair to the club or him when we signed him and we are still, quite literally, paying the price.
I reaaally didn't want to get Juve. But I guess they'll have to settle for second place. It's a fair group after all, especially if you compare it to the likes of group D.
Just read that only we and Liverpool have ever won the European Super cup. Arsenal lost their only one while Manu lost both of their European Super cup finals.
I do? Well, then never mind Don't know why that has to be the rule? The perfect senario, in my head, would be him getting the odd bench place now, which he is bound to get as we are short on strikers. A couple of good sub performances can lead to a more regular bench place. Then, more consistent good performances from the bench can lead to him being given the odd start here and there in the league. The better he plays the more starts he gets until he becomes a starter. I know it's a bit optimistic, but there absolutely no reason why that can't happen during the next 3 seasons.
One word: media. The British media has been constantly saying how shit he is for the past 18 months now; it's bound to stick in people's minds, especially those who don't watch him regularly.
I agree about the first part but I have my reservations about loans. The thing with loans is they either make or break a player, and unfortunately it is the latter most of the times. I personally would love to see him play with the U21 for two season while being slowly integrated with the first team.
