Mata played much of last season on the right wing. He can play and be just as effective on the right wing in 4-2-3-1 even though he can't play on the wing in a 4-3-3. I don't think Rooney will be coming here to play as a striker. Had we signed him I am pretty sure he would have played in his best position, imo, which is just behind the striker. We wanted an attacking midfielder who can cover at ST and we already got one in Schurrle.
