  1. But it's never that straight forward, unfortunately. If someone insulted a member, we have to look at why did he do that? Who provoked him? The severity of the insult: did he call him an idiot or a son of a bitch? And we also have to look at who that member is and what his history is. If a member just joined and the first post he makes is insulting someone, then he will get warned, but if , let's say, Skipper for some reason loses his head and calls someone an idiot he won't get an official warning because we know that he's not an abusive member and that he must must have been provoked. This is another we face. Some members never aim huge insults at anyone that warrant an warning but they are behind a lot of the fights that go on because they provoke people into fights by laughing at them, using sarcasm to belittle their opinions and insulting what they think. I know that does not look like a huge deal, but when it happens over and over again people get frustrated and bite back. And unfortunately some members have become "masters of provocation", so should we warn punish the ones who use insults and let the provokers run free? Another issue is when it gets more serious and we want to ban someone, we have to look at what he brings to the forum. We have to do what's best for the site and as our selves: Would the forum be better or worse without him? I know that doesn't sound fair, but in reality warning and punishing people can never be objective but a lot of it is down to what the staff think. That's why we discuss every suspension or ban thoroughly before we execute them. And it can never be as strict as what you suggest because you want banter and lively discussions. Right now we have the three-strike warning system, and if we were to apply it literally, I'd reckon a quarter of our currently most active members would have been banned by now!
  2. Like who? Most of the warnings that happen around here you don't know half its story, so instead of jumping to conclusions about favoritism, why don't you ask us about our perspective?
  3. The problem with that is every time that a simple warning is handed out it causes a riot recently. Some people will use anything to attack the staff. They will try to use the warning to say that staff are biased for not warning someone else, or for warning the member, regardless of the circumstances. And the member himself will almost always attack the one who warned him via PM. If we do warn members then we're dictatorial and ban people for having an opinion and if we don't actually warn and stick to just telling members to stop then we're being biased and having favoritism. It's always a lose-lose situation for the staff. When people insist into getting into petty squabbles all over the forum, they tie our hands down and force us to get involved in the pettiness.
  4. Thank you for all you did for this forum, you were an excellent moderator
  5. Like I said, I'm fine with the hugs and even the squeezing as long as they're virtual and not real I'm an introvert, I need my social and emotional bubble: What exactly are "mature" members, then? Does that make the others immature?
  6. Gentlemen, allow me to settle this argument for you. Moderator appointments are the responsibility of the staff alone. You, as a member have absolutely no say in who becomes mod unless the staff put it out for a vote. We choose the moderators on a bunch of criteria like the duration he has been here, his warning record, what we think of him, his time zone..etc Spike has been lined up for this for a long time, probably before you even joined, and he completely deserves this from the perspective of the forum staff here. There you go, end of discussion. Now let's get back on topic, please.
  7. Well fish technically don't "drink", so.. Wow, thanks. I just literally blushed for real
  8. Well in countries like KSA you could go to jail or get caned (yes that is an actual legal punishment there!). Here it would something more interesting like having all the girl's male relatives come after you with guns and RPGs. Fun, right?
  9. Hello Ben and welcome. Hope you're enjoying TalkChelsea
  10. Damn, I though the game was tonight Basel were, imo, the best opponent we faced last season on the EL but we were lucky that we put in arguably our best performance in the competition against them. The 4-4-1-1 worked perfectly in that tie and IIRC, Moses in particular was outstanding. Crap. But I think it was going to be Lamps-MVK regardless. Can't we stick Josh or Chalobah on the bench if he's not fit at all?
  11. A little tip that can potentially save your life: Never make that joke to an Arab!
  12. Of course I am...that was kind of the whole joke..
  13. Well, we are still looking to sell Mata
  14. We have a very funny way of showing how we "hate" Liverpool. Between the 50m for Torres, Sturridge and now Moses, we've almost single handedly stopped them from being a bottom half team!
  15. They were photoshopped! No seriously, it looks worse from the side:
  16. Hello Donna, and welcome to TalkChelsea. Please feel free to contact me or any other moderator/admin if you need any help. Stick around Nour.
  17. I did watch the video. He just needlessly took a couple of steps forward and left JT and Iva out numbered. Granted that others made mistakes in the goal as well.
  18. As long as it's a virtual internet hug and not a physical hug!
  19. You still do self-introductions at university level? Most of the teachers here don't even do it in high school. It seems unnecessary in college as your class mates usually change from one class to the other. And besides, why would I want to get to know all thos people?!
  20. Weren't you in the Basel home game last season? I remember you saying that you saw that Luiz screamer live. It was goal of the season for me.
