Michael Ballack has told how he feared his career was over as a result of his recent injury nightmare. The German international picked up an ankle injury in a Premier League game against Newcastle in April and has not played since. He was subsequently left out of Chelsea's initial UEFA Champions League squad, after undergoing two operations to try and cure the problem and he has now revealed how he feared that he may never play again. Complicated "I had thousands of questions, but I was never given any answers," the midfielder told Die Zeit. "I'm sure I got on everyone's nerves, but my injury was in my thoughts 24 hours a day. "Sometimes I thought: You are 31 and have had 14 good years as a professional, maybe it's time to call it a day. "I thought at first that it was a question of three or four weeks, but then everything started to get complicated. "First one operation, then another and none of the doctors wanted to tell me when I would be able to play again." Motivated Finally back to full fitness, Ballack is in the Chelsea squad for Wednesday's Carling Cup quarter-final against Liverpool and is looking forward to re-establishing himself both domestically and at international level. "I have enough time to be in top form for June (for Euro 2008)," he told Sport Bild. "After this injury problem, I'm particularly motivated for the 2010 World Cup finals. After that I will wait and see if I can play a year or two more." Source: Sky Sports

Good player.. well built for his position.. so that'd make him hard to deal with for defenders.. but we need someone.. world class and maybe outside of the premiership

With that record, as an 18 year old... can only be promising news... great record.. lets hope he can do the biz for the chels

Chelsea's hopes of landing midfielder Giovani Dos Santos have been hit by the news Barcelona have opened contract talks with him.Blues boss Avram Grant is keen on making a move for the Mexican international when the transfer window opens next month, but Barca want Dos Santos, who can also operate in attack, to stay at the Nou Camp. The 18-year-old's contract is due to run out at the end of the season and Barcelona do not want a repeat of the situation that saw Cesc Fabregas leave for Arsenal on the cheap. However, Grant is determined to land the 18-year-old, who has stepped up from Barcelona's B team this season, and he is hoping that the Spanish club will be ready to do a deal if Dos Santos rejects a new deal to stay. Ashley Cole insists the Arsenal boo-boys won't faze him on Sunday. The Chelsea ace is ready to play his first game at the Emirates after his controversial move across London last year. England left-back Cole can expect plenty of stick from Gunners fans, who are still angry that he demanded a transfer because he considered a new £55,000-a-week contract offer too small. "What do people think I'm scared of? Fans booing me? "I had it all last season and nearly all my life. It's stupid but I can't stop what people think. "I will go there and prove that I'm not scared. "I was gutted when I couldn't play at Arsenal last season but there was nothing I could do. "I'd had a bad ankle all season and the manager felt it was the right time to get it fixed so I could be fit for the FA Cup Final. "There were a lot of people saying I was scared and too afraid to play but that was and never will be the case." The Sun
